Came here for their happy hour to grab a drink with friends. Drinks are good, but what I found most enjoyable was the atmosphere. We sat on their outdoor patio - the weather was nice, the drinks were tasty, and the company was great. Just a relaxing, pleasant time. Haven't tried their food but have heard good things about it. Ive been in Hospitality on and off and this past weekend I went with my parents here for the famous Dings Chicken Sando. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather and the great food. After we finished eating there was an incident with a motorcycle and a range rover and the manager came by to apologize. What in the world, why are you apologizing, it wasn't your fault, it was on the street but the fact that she came to check on us for a disturbance across the street spoke volumes on her character and the standards that hillstone sets with their staff. 10 out of 10. First time in. Classy bar with two and four seater booths around the outside. Not a big place but they do have additional seating outside. We had the smoked salmon appetizer which was very good and not over sized. Tony wife had the Kale salad with Rotisserie Chicken which was fantastic. (See pic) I had the Filet with Fries, cooked Med-Rate and paired it with a glass of the Challenge Pinto Noir. It was cooked perfectly and was a reasonable portion. Been to a few restaurants in Montecito and Honor Bar will always have a special place in my heart. Food is always 100% delicious and freshly made. I may be overreacting but the spaghetti and chicken meatballs is the best pasta I've ever had. Their crispy chicken sandwich is amazing as well. The waitress and hostess had amazing customer service. If you like Hillstone Restaurant Group, you will like Honor Bar. Like all Hillstone Properties they have a familiar menu that they do very well. I'm a big fan of their "Dip Duo" which is jalapeño queso & guacamole with chips, as a starter. ($15) My favorite item on their menu is the "Emerald Kale salad with Rotisserie chicken." It comes with a delicious peanut vinaigrette that I never get tired of. ($24) My favorite sandwich is the "Ding's Crispy Chicken Sandwich". It has buttermilk fried chicken, baby Swiss cheese , and coleslaw. ($23) The atmosphere is pretty and upscale and business casual is suggested. Popped into town on a Monday during lunch time and The Honor Bar was the first recommendation from our Lyft driver. There was already a line forming so we added our name to the list and went for a little stroll down the street. We received a text fairly quickly indicating that our table was ready. It was quite chilly outside even with the sun out so I was grateful to be seating indoors, even if it was bar seating. The space is small but cozy. Seating completely around the bar with a clear view into the kitchen. Intimate table seating also lined the windows. Several tables outside as well that would have been perfectly on a warmer day. We were greeted and check on several times by the hosts, bartenders, servers, and even some of the kitchen staff. A plus on service. Love Honor Bar. The food is delicious and consistent. Service is attentive and welcoming. Came here two nights in a row while in Montecito back in November. Favorites are the DIP DUO, smoked trout dip, cedar plank roasted salmon, and southern style Brussels sprouts. The French fries are good, too. From what I'm told, just about everything here is tasty which I can believe. The vibe is a very relaxed but sophisticated setting. The patty crumbled and created a melody with the slaw and soft sesame bun. Absolutely divine. The pine salad is good too but I'm not going to tell you to order a salad before the burger. We came here for a family meal and unfortunately had a very uncomfortable experience. When we first walked in, I was carrying my young daughter, and we were offered a table inside the bar area -- not outside where families usually sit. Later, when another guest complained that our kids were "too loud," a staff member came over and asked us to "keep it quiet." It felt like being scolded in front of the entire section, which was both embarrassing and unnecessary. Meanwhile, the complaining guest looked extremely satisfied watching us get corrected, which only made the situation worse. I asked the manager, Andrew, why we were seated inside the bar if families with children are going to be treated as disruptive. He couldn't give me an answer. To his credit, he acknowledged that the situation could have been handled differently and was kind in our heart-to-heart conversation. He even offered me a chocolate chip cookie as a gesture. But what stood out most was when he quickly ran over mid-meal to offer my daughter a cookie the one and only time her voice was loud -- which felt more like a distraction tactic than support, and honestly made things more weird and awkward. Does he offer a cookie to diffuse every situation? Because there was a barking dog a few booths down and I didn't see him offering biscuits or cookies to manage the noise. We were just walking in the area and decided to just pop and have a bite here. The staff was so nice and our server, Sophia (if i remember correctly) was so sweet. If the menu has a french dip sandwich, i'm getting it. The meat was delicious, with the dip it melts in your mouth! Their salmon was cooked beautifully as well. The best French dip sandwich I've had in years! The meat was sliced paper thin, and bread was a perfect texture to still hold the sandwich together while dripping in the comforting au jus. I would probably add some cheese to it next time I order, and I easily went through the creamy horseradish sauce before getting to the end of the sandwich (I asked for extra but don't think I got it?). We ate at the bar top, which was fun to watch the hustle and bustle, but it was the start of Mother's Day weekend, so it was a bit busier than expected. The bar chairs aren't my favorite. I witnessed something today that restored my faith in humanity. My husband and I were seated in the outdoor seating area so I witnessed the way the hostess (cece or cici) treated another guest. An older lady walked in and needed help with her phone to give her older husband directions to the restaurant. She helped her with the phone, offered to call the husband and help. Then the older lady was worried about her phone battery dying. She went out and brought her a charger. She didn't need to do any of this as most of the young hostesses don't do anything close to this. I was so happy to see a human help another just because of simply being nice. It made my heart happy. One of the best tuna sandwiches I have ever had in my life if not the best ! Trout dip was delicious, kale panzenella I was not expecting to be warm but was so good could have had 2 . Fries just ok ! I thought the kale salad would be a surefire winner given the quality elsewhere, but unfortunately this version was subpar, lacking the spice and peanutty goodness that usually define it. Also, unlike other Honor Bars, they didn't give a discount for removing the chicken. I don't assume this discount will always be given, but needless to say this was another unhappy divergence. My partner got the same salad with chicken and both dishes read "Kale Salad with Chicken" on the bill, so I was dismayed that they didn't offer the same fair price as other locations. My favorite item here is the Prime Rib Dip. It is by far the best sandwich I've ever had. The bread is perfect and the meat is so incredibly tender and tasty. Last time we came, the sandwich was $24.00 and came with fries. This time, it was $27.00 and fries were extra. Too pricey but the sandwich is so good and the service was great also.
