    Bacon wrapped fish!!

This place is definately alot better than I expected. I went in expecting that it would be just another chinese buffet. With that being said, this place definately exceeded expectations. The interior is very modern and has great ambience. I went with a large group and the staff was extremely nice and accommodating. The food was hit or miss, but when it hit it hit the spot. THey had a few dishes that were quite unique. they had cheesy broccoli and fried seafood. The broccoli was meh, but I really loved the fried seafood. The sushi was good. not the best I've ever had, but the best I've ever had in a buffet. The mongolian BBQ was good and bad. The first time i went, i totally loved it and then I went back, and he screwed up the order badly. not exactly sure how he pulled off that jekyll/ Hyde trick, but whatever. I had a good time and enjoyed the food, so 4 stars!!!!

    Yummy

It gets pretty packed and I hate it I was putting food on my plate with the rings and the minute I grab the tong and put one slice of orange on my plate I already had a stupid lady with a full plate of food and two kids just standing behind me staring with and ugly desperate face for me to move and leave like if she was starving and that was the only thing to eat in the whole buffet like omg just wait your turn people get really ugly and greedy with the food. They walk around the buffet like pacman eating everything lol

    Techno-ish interior

This place has obviously just opened, maybe not to long ago, its not even on Yelp yet and even hard to find on the internet. This is a Chinese buffet with Mongolian grill. This place is one of the fancier buffets I have been to, very Techno-ish colors and neon colors, very high tech modern look tables and chairs. Ok the food, it's really difficult for me to tell the difference from one buffet to another, however this place has tons of extra foods available and stuff that I never seen! Food is above average though, tastes fresh specially the shrimp and seafood is really good, normally I don't say that about a Chinese buffet, but this one makes it real tasty. Loads of deserts too, I had some fried plantains and they were to die for, very good! my son had some blue bell ice cream that you get to scoop yourself. All and all very above the average food, price was more than I like to pay for a buffet but not bad for what you get. I do recommend it and will go back when I am visiting Mission/McAllen, Tx.

    Dude, seriously?

Normally my family and I come to this buffet and enjoy it, but to increase the price on a holiday specifically is tacky and disrespectful to its customers. Usually the place is packed with people because we all enjoy the food, but f*** this place for doing something so tasteless. Instead of giving discounts to its customers or leaving the price as it was (~$10 per adult) which would have produced more revenue in the long run, they upped it to almost $15 per adult. That's expensive for a buffet. Food is alright, but not worth $15.

Some of my food was cold. There were not enough dishes with vegetables and most of the meat was deep fried.

Be Careful when paying with card. They charge tip on their own. We left cash tip and they still charged tip on card on their own.

I tried the cod, the chopped steak And charro beans. The cod was cold, the steak was luke warm And beans had a salty weird after taste. New hot pan of cheese enchiladas were brought out, I got 3 and could only eat 2 1/4. Too much veleta like cheese. 2nd piece of cod just as cold. Pineapple chunks and Watermelon little colder than Luke warm. The entire time there were flys landing on the buffet. (Cold and hot). There were NOT a lot of flys but enough to make it noticeable. After more people came in (closer to noon) the fly swatter was put away. Upon entering, it was noticed that Christian music was being played through the sound system. One employee stood out who's back of shirt read "Made in Hell". Really? Why allow him to walk around swatting flys in a restaurant playing music that honors Jesus wearing that shirt?? Even though my stomach got full, I probably won't be back. Had to ask for my drink that I paid for even after having water brought to my table. When the Waitress refilled my drink the 2nd time it was Not what I was drinking. Not sure warmers and coolers are working or if they are even warmers or coolers.

The Shrimp Boil, fried oysters, and Oysters Rockefeller were good but could use a bit more attention to seasoning. The oysters Rockefeller did try to get a smoke flavor but fell short on the size of the oysters. Fried shrimp and chicken were on the dry side. I also tried the ribeye. The ribeye 1/2" cut (?) was a bit on the chewy side and a little dry. Seafood gumbo did not impress me much. Visually, I could see it needed spices. I added some of the seafood boil sauce and it tasted better Corn on the Cobb was GREAT, so was the boiled crab legs were also GREAT! Lots of patrons on Sunday. There are large screen TVs on 2 of the walls and you can actually hear the program that is airing. I liked that the audio was not muted and that the program was kind of interesting (no Fox News!) I didn't spend much time looking at the menu so I cannot comment on prices. I did see that the selection included the usual dishes. I had the buffet instead. The buffet had an interesting mix of Mexican and American dishes: chalupas (meatless), 2 kinds of fajitas, sliced smoked sausage with sauteed onions and peppers, meatloaf, picadillo con papas, instant mashed potatoes, peas & carrots, onion rings (similar to those that come in a red & yellow bag from the freezer case), quesadillas, chiles relleños (filled with picadillo con papas), cheese enchiladas, Mexican rice, 2 types of pinto beans (a la charra and refritos), 2 types of caldo (chicken and beef), liver & onions and a cold area with fresh fruit and basic salad ingredients. The waiter will also bring you hot tortillas if you like, offering your choice of flour, corn or a mix. I tried a variety of dishes and was surprised that almost all lacked salt and seasoning. The food looked fresh but...had so little flavor. I'm not usually one to salt my food at the table, either at home or at a restaurant. But I had to salt my food here (except for the meatloaf) because it otherwise was bland. Also, I could not spot any ketchup. Some people like it with their onion rings and meatloaf, perhaps other food too. The caldo was oily and without flavor. If you want fresh lime wedges (which really are standard at most local Tex-Mex restaurants) you must ask for them, they are not available even with the fruit at the salad bar. The service was good. The tableware given by the waiter consisted of a single fork rolled inside a paper napkin, no knife or spoon. If you need them, you get your own from the holder near the buffet. The dishes are the same boring tan-colored melamine that so many places use. Payment is at the end of your meal, at a station near the door. One lunch buffet and one drink, plus tax cost almost $10.00. So will I go back? Nope, not when Taco Fiesta is just across the street. If you wonder how business compares between the two neighboring restaurants, consider this: Taco Fiesta is so busy at lunchtime that they have a man driving a golf cart to ferry customers to and from their cars in the church parking lot nearby. Next time I'm in the neighborhood, I won't hesitate to dine at Taco Fiesta.
