Takes me back a few decades to when I was a kid and grandad would take us. Tastes the same; great! Good quality food and friendly staff. Got the fish, Mac n cheese and green beans. Southern home cooking. It was $15 for the meal, roll, ice tea and tip. Not too bad. Down here for a while. We will be back.

This maccarroni occupied the whole plate before it was shoved by a smaller plate.

Luby's is a great restaurant to eat at, normally. However, this experience was tainted because of a lack of attention to simple detail and logic on a server's part. I enjoyed that since we weren't going to eat a salad, we were allowed to skip ahead in the line. I ordered my usual, which is a chicken fried chicken, mash potatoes, and maccarroni. The chicken fried chicken takes up a large portion of the main course plate. On previous occasions, they serve me the chicken fried chicken and the maccarroni on one single plate and the mash potatoes on a separate plate and hand me both separately. This time, the final server (she looked young and inexperienced) served the mash potatoes on a separate smaller plate (as expected), looked at the main course plate with no more room, paused for a moment, and instead of handing me both plates separately, she proceeded to shove the mashed potatoes plate against the maccarroni, moving it around and making a big mess. Then she gave me the plate. I told her, "I really wish you hadn't done that." She dismissed my comment and attended the next person. I spoke with a manager and told him upfront that I wasn't looking for a discount nor a free meal. I wanted to inform him, though, of the improper way of handling the situation. He chose to defend the girl by ensuring me that all their plates are highly sanitized, if that was the concern for me. I said, that's not the issue. Every time I touch the plate, my hands get dirty because there's maccarroni all under it. The table gets dirty, the napkins everything. He said he'd look into it. After our conversation, he never returned to our table to check how we were doing.

Good chicken at lubbys. Date with mommy. Love it!

Food is like cartoon looking and portions are huge. Mmmmmmm. Looking forward to eating this massive plate.

Delicious white fish and spinach soufflé. Highly recommend!

Lubys is great when you have kids as they eat free Mon- Wed and they don't have funky rules like max 2 kids. It's just one free meal per paying adult plate. I live their baked fish and their spinach soufflé was excellent. I couldn't believe I hadn't wrote a review yet as I have eaten here several times. I recommend baked fish or baked chicken. If you like fried foods get the chicken fried chicken. My kids love the tenders, fried fish and Mac n cheese. I just wish they'd was their dishes better.

Had to try their chicken tenders

This is how every Lubys should be. The location on Jackson and 83 is well lit, plentiful seating, and most importantly TVs tuned to important events. That's just the start. You walk in and your olfactory nerve is firing. So many fresh choices it's hard to choose. However with this many options everyone's palate can be satisfied. I opted for the chicken tenders. The breading crust was very hard. Don't recommend it.

Good family / meeting place. Always clean & plenty of room.

I tried the cod, the chopped steak And charro beans. The cod was cold, the steak was luke warm And beans had a salty weird after taste. New hot pan of cheese enchiladas were brought out, I got 3 and could only eat 2 1/4. Too much veleta like cheese. 2nd piece of cod just as cold. Pineapple chunks and Watermelon little colder than Luke warm. The entire time there were flys landing on the buffet. (Cold and hot). There were NOT a lot of flys but enough to make it noticeable. After more people came in (closer to noon) the fly swatter was put away. Upon entering, it was noticed that Christian music was being played through the sound system. One employee stood out who's back of shirt read "Made in Hell". Really? Why allow him to walk around swatting flys in a restaurant playing music that honors Jesus wearing that shirt?? Even though my stomach got full, I probably won't be back. Had to ask for my drink that I paid for even after having water brought to my table. When the Waitress refilled my drink the 2nd time it was Not what I was drinking. Not sure warmers and coolers are working or if they are even warmers or coolers.

Edith's Mexican Buffet is located on N. Cage Blvd. in Pharr, Texas, along the I-69C access road…read more You'll find it on the west side just south of Nolana, between the Red Roof Inn and Volvo Trucks. Open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Edith's offers a reasonably priced, home-style Mexican breakfast and lunch buffet. The restaurant also has locations in downtown Edinburg and in Mission, which reflects strong support and confidence from local customers. This was my first visit to Edith's. The exterior of the building appears recently updated, though parking can be limited during peak hours. Be aware that parking on the hotel side of the divider will result in towing. While signs are posted on the restaurant door, an additional sign on the divider itself would be helpful. Street parking is not available. I remember when this space housed a pancake-house-style diner, and much of the same furniture is still in use. Some booth upholstery shows wear and a few small tears, though the seating remains comfortable. The breakfast buffet features a wide variety of traditional Mexican favorites: several styles of scrambled eggs, beans with or without chorizo, fried potatoes prepared plain, with chorizo, or a la mexicana, chilaquiles, hash browns, huevos rancheros, cheese in salsa, menudo, oatmeal, fresh fruit, and more. Our server, Soraya, was especially friendly and took our drink order as well as requests for eggs cooked to order. Pancakes and waffles are also available upon request. My eggs arrived promptly and were cooked perfectly over medium. The iced tea is offered sweetened or unsweetened. Although I was told the sweet tea was freshly brewed, it did not taste fresh to me and had a hint of lime. Soraya kindly replaced it with unsweetened tea at no extra charge, which was clearly fresh brewed and excellent. Corn tortillas are warmed, while the flour tortillas are freshly made--definitely the better choice in my opinion. Overall, the food was very good. The guisos, potatoes, bacon, beans, and chilaquiles all had solid flavor without being greasy. The chilaquiles were slightly dry on their own, but adding queso in salsa verde made them just right. Some bacon pieces were less crispy than I prefer, though it was easy to select the more well-done pieces. I enjoyed my breakfast and would gladly return. I noticed that some reviewers complained about Christian music playing in the background, but during my visit the music remained subtle and did not interfere with conversation. Personally, I enjoyed it. I look forward to returning to try the lunch buffet, especially the chile rellenos--one of my favorites--along with the many other guisos they offer.

When you step out of your vehicle, in the parking lot, you're hit with a tidal wave of the smell of fresh corn tortillas! I knew I came to the right place. The inside has your typical South-of-the-Border flair; Saltillo tile, ceramic wall hangings, bright, colorful, and clean. The service is super friendly. I was seated right away and brought my iced tea quickly. I helped myself to the buffet. Some good choices; fideo con pollo, costillas de res, carné guisada, rice, beans and a few other things I didn't recognize (one was a spectacularly spicy meat and gravy dish I quite liked). They also had charro beans, caldos, an assortment of salsas. I was hoping for some kind of a "taco bar," because I was craving tacos. .... should've just ordered from their extensive menu. Overall, the food was good - nothing spectacular, but it was all well seasoned and hot. I was brought some fresh, house-made corn and flour tortillas so I was able to get my taco fix taken care of. All-in-all, not a bad lunch. I was back on the road in no time. I'd like to come back sometime and order off that menu.
