This used to be the best place around for Chinese food and after a couple of disappointing meals a few years ago we tried a new place that isn't as convenient. Well today I decided to give them a try again and while it wasn't bad is definitely wasn't great. My general tso chicken was reasonably tasty but the chicken was so tough and stringy I will be flossing chicken from between my teeth for hours. Not sure if was just way over cooked, freezer burned or both but either way it was not good. Definitely a take out place thought they do have a few tables in there. It's so good. I lived next to it for 16 years and ate there the entire time. My favorite is the beef lo mein and the egg rolls. Also the sesame chicken and the kung pao chicken is so good. This is a new place that I tried. Overall, service was fast and food was good. We got the general Tao's and sesame chicken. Both came out pretty fast. Although, we did do to go. I picked up dinner to go for my husband and I and we went pretty basic: chicken & broccoli for him and beef & snow peas for me. I tasted both and they were delicious! I was most impressed with the quality of the beef they used - not chewy at all. Tender and delicious. The vegetables in both dishes were extremely fresh, crisp, and perfectly cooked. Please don't change it or I will be very sad but will make the trek to Cordova for your tasty snacks. I don't normally like dumplings (my husband does), but China Spring dumplings are the best I've ever had. Nice little Chinese takeout place right next to Kroger. Love that you can place your order online before picking it up. They have their front door set up to minimize contact, which I really appreciate. The lunch specials are a pretty good value; for less than 7 dollars you get a meat entree, fried rice, plus a choice of soup, egg roll or drink. Our order consisted of the cashew chicken and mongolian beef lunch specials, plus the fried dumplings. We would have liked a little more vibrancy and seasoning in the meat, but the dumplings were really great with a lovely, gingery flavor. We stopped here because Mary's German restaurant ran out of food. Set up as carryout but with a few tables and booths the meals were of very good quantity and taste. Although I've never been to a Chinese restaurant with take out containers for bowls and plates the service was excellent especially from the 11 year old cashier. I got the moo shu pork with square wonton skin wrappers instead of the normal round crepes. I can't complain about something I normally toss anyway to save a few carbs. read more

First, I would like to commend this restaurant on their efforts to keep us protected from the Covid-19, by having in place cautionary methods to ensure safety. Next, I want the reader to understand that I normally, absolutely love to dine-in and takeout Chinese food. This experience was just not what I was expecting. We ordered $41+ of food for our family. The food was old and cold. The meats in every dish were dried and hard with exception of the Teriyaki chicken and vegetable egg rolls. The vegetables in our vegetable egg rolls was very old and smelled like old cabbage. We also ordered the sesame chicken. It was like eating cardboard covered hard fried chicken that was left out all day. It looked amazing, but when we tasted it it was very old and cold. I can not say anything about the flavor, as my teeth were instantly gorged with this "chicken". No steam came from our box's of chicken fried rice. The very thing I was expecting was not present. The vegetables came from a can. There was nothing fresh in it-no eggs no sprouts. The fried rice was bland and tasteless. If you want a flavored rice Formosa House on Quince and Kirby Parkway was the best and Benihana off Poplar-the freshest takeout. I have more places to experience and I hope they measure up. I will not be wasting any more money on this place. Reheated-absolutely the worst. We chose this restaurant based on Customer Reviews. The people were too nice. This is in fact generally modified Chinese food. Do not expect and real or near real authentic flavor for the dishes I have listed. Other than this the food had not been drained of oil. The general tso's chicken was not crispy at all and the meat's texture was fibrous and woody (?).
