For starters, Dim Sum King excelled in all the categories of variety, quality, and freshness. Dim Sum King's dim sum is ordered from the menu - you mark the number of the respective dim sum plate that you wish to order on a dry-erase menu placard and receive the food as they are made. While different than the push-cart ordering which gives you more of an eyes-on confirmation of the actual dishes and a nostalgic-traditional dim-sum brunch vibe, the menu ordering offers a different approach. Ordering from the menu potentially means that each plate is cooked right and not sitting in the steaming cart which may result in overcooked food or sogginess. So the food does come out fresh here! When it comes to variety, Dim Sum King has most of the usual suspects - har gow, shui mai, chicken feet, short ribs, tripe, lo bak go (turnip cake), shrimp/beef/veggie cheung fun (rice noodle rolls), and sticky rice. The chicken mei fun was absolutely hands down the best we've ever had. It tasted like a thin version of linguine with clam sauce and our 2 year old was obsessed! The egg drop and wonton soup was also some of the best we've had. We ordered a large and it came with no fewer than 6 wontons! My 4 year old ate it for 3 meals. The egg rolls were also very tasty and easily some of the best I've had too. The ambiance is exactly what you'd expect, very little searing, no one else in the restaurant, and specifically set up for takeout. The lady answering the phones and fulfilling orders was helpful and the food was ready in the 15-20 minutes promised.
