What really set this experience apart was the service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and helpful! To top it all off, they treated us to a free taste of their fried donuts, which were absolutely amazing! Warm, fluffy, and perfectly sweet, they were the perfect ending to an already wonderful meal. Called 20 minutes before closing, the owner was so nice about it all and was just as cheery as as he probably was at noon :) I arrived right at closing and walked in where right away the owner verified who I was and made sure I had napkins and plastic ware and then wished us a goodnight by name and if that's not great customer service then I don't know what is. There was an interesting show on the Food Network or the Travel Channel where Anthony Bourdain and an Asian chef went to New York City's Chinatown and had the food that they each grew up believing was Chinese and it was interesting seeing how very different Anthony Bourdain's perspective of what Chinese food was compared to what the Asian chef's memories of true Chinese dishes were. Anyway, Wok Inn offers great Chinese food which is also the very Americanized version of Chinese food. The people are friendly and I had my food in a relatively short amount of time. Fresh and delicious. Moo shoo pork was full of meat and veggies. Pancakes were very thin and easy to separate. Duck sauce was perfect. And we were very happy to learn that our favorite Chinese restaurant in Sarasota would be open on December 24th and 25th! We're fairly new to the area so this was a pleasant surprise. We bought a bunch of different dishes to share with our family, and as always everything was delicious. My husband is a vegetarian and they have lots of veggie options for him, and every single container is clearly marked so he doesn't have to check every box to see what he can eat. They always throw in some free goodies like Chinese donuts and cookies. And we even got a Chinese horoscope and calendar for 2023, the year of the Rabbit. A good reasonably priced lunch For lunch today I tried their Lemon Chicken. Some assembly required, it came with a container of sauce, nuggets of chicken, and rice on a separate plate. While plating was not high marks, having control over how much sauce to use, etc., was a good way to do it. The chicken pieces were good and I particularly liked the fried rice. The sauce was ok. I went all out and also got a Wonton Soup and an Egg Roll, and both seemed about average. Our server was great, she brought noodles with both duck sauce and mustard, and our food followed shortly thereafter. She checked back, always happy, to be sure we were doing ok.
