I stopped in here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The place was moderately busy but has a decent amount of parking. I was show to a table and the server was friendly and asked if I had questions about the menu. She explained how the broths for the soups are made as well as the different styles of noodles that they have. I went for the spicy beef noddle soup and I was not disappointed. It wasn't too spicy. But had a nice kick to it. Portion sizes are generally big (it was enough to fill me up) and everything tasted fresh. The restaurant has a low key mom-and-pop style vibe. They easily beat the competition when it comes to both quality and portion size. I actually found this place during Covid, and they've been a go-to ever since. We got a lot of dishes. We order the chicken skewers for the kid. As an adult, we like this dish due to their marinated sauce. We also got the fried calamari. That dish is just ok. Our dish is the spicy Hue Tiew. It is rice pasta soup noodles with beef slices. The soup base is not overpowering. Just good for my taste. Overall serving is good and so do the food serve speed. I ordered the egg roll appetizer, nothing special and quite a small serving with a sweet sauce, lettuce accompanied the dish was not fresh. Pho 101 is roughly 45 miles North of Port Charlotte and it rings the bells of Food, Service and Ambiance loudly. While local Pho restaurants tend to overcharge (opinion) by $3-$4 per Bowl, it becomes worthwhile to "make the drive" to a perfect Pho restaurant. We will still visit locals on occasion, but Pho 101 has figured out perfect balance. They also make us feel welcome, which was never a particular concern, but it sets them apart from the competition. Their Boba Tea is like I've grown accustomed to on the U.S. West Coast. I don't understand why some Pho restaurants bring you actual cold Tea, but THESE are indistinguishable from fruit flavored Milkshakes...although they, at $5.95 each, are overpriced by $2. They are incredibly good. Mango, Blackberry, etc. Anyway, the Pho Nam (with Brisket) is incredibly good and with the load of fresh shoots and Thai Basil leaves provided. I-75N to Clark Rd. Good service and delicious food overall. The drink left me wondering what type of coffee the restaurant uses -- it had a ton of condensed milk, yet still tasted quite bitter. Excellent Pho We stopped in last night for dinner. My bowl of choice was the one with rare meat, #27 on the menu. Now that I think I'm pretty good at eating Pho, I was anxious to put my relatively new skills to use again. I still managed to splatter broth on my shirt, but just a little. My bowl was excellent, the broth exceptional. I dove in, not literally, and consumed everything my chopsticks and that oddly shaped spoon would reach. We were new to Florida and not sure where to go for some good Pho. Thank you to Yelp We found this Gem. They have so many dishes to choose and I chose Bun Bo hue. It is my all time favorite noodles. When it came it's a very big bowl and have so many meat in it. It is definitely worth it but hard for me to finish it. They added perfect amount of spice and the broth tasted fresh and flavorful. The spring rolls are hot, so be careful when you take your first bite. It's very crunchy and tasty, it pairs perfectly with the dipping sauce. The service was great, our server was super nice and sweet and he made sure all our request were fulfilled. And there weren't many people there during that time, so we got a spot really quickly. Today I had the blackened ahi tuna salad. It's huge! You can tell from the picture that they are extremely generous with the tuna. Under the tuna is ginger, mint leaves, mixed spring salad, cucumber, onion, tomato, bean sprouts and peanuts. Haven't been here in years. Wanted the Pho soup. I ordered the Shrimp option. There were plenty of shrimp, but hardly any vegetables. When I asked - because the last time I was here it was loaded with bok choy and other veggies - she said no there were only snow peas in there. Yes - there were a total of 3 snow peas. This is a nice hidden gem in Sarasota! We've been here for years and just noticed it this year. The menu is quite expansive, and includes only Vietnamese food but also Japanese and Thai options. We of course, went for the pho. The pho topping options are relatively limited compared with other pho restaurants, but we went for the sliced beef and brisket. The sliced beef was served semi-raw (the way we like it for pho!), and I didn't have that many brisket pieces in mine. The pho broth was delicious! You always want to judge pho based on the broth and it was delicious. Clean, flavorful, savory, warming, yum! We also got the bubble tea - I chose mango, and it came as a slushy type bubble tea that I surprisingly loved! My only complaint: the man who sat us seemed really annoyed with us when we wanted to sit in a slightly less crowded area to do our best with COVID distancing. He still honored our request ultimately, so it wasn't that much of an issue. Perhaps it's just Florida - most people seem to have forgotten about any masking or distancing, so they may not be used to these requests.
