    Under cooked egg roll.
    Domaine D.

First time, Last Time Ordered: Crispy beef with Chinese vegetables, beef chow mein, and one egg roll The beef with Chinese vegetables was not crispy, Chinese vegetables consisted of celery, onion, carrot, and a few snow peas. Where is the bok choy, Long strand Chinese green beans, and bamboo shoots? The dish had a heavy amount of thick sauce made from oyster sauce. How is the beef to remain crispy if it is soaked in liquids? The dish I requested should not even have a sauce and should be topped with cilantro or scallions. Lastly, I requested the dish to be medium spiced, it was bland. The beef chow mein was extremely watery and only consisted of celery and a small amount of jullianed carrots for vegetables. The chow mein noodles were stale. The egg roll, as seen below in the picture, had more wrapping than filling. Even if they add added more shredded cabbage to this eggroll it would've sufficed and satisfied as a decent egg roll. Also would saved on the amount of meat filling used. Cabbage is a very cheap vegetable and one that can stay fresh for a longer period of time. Because the wrapper made up the majority of the role, it did not cook inside the outer most part of the wrapper. This made the egg roll chewy. As a result, the inner layers of the wonton wrapper were extremely chewy to the point of inedible. I had to stop eating it. I understand the need to cut back on vegetables due to inflation but these vegetables are some of the cheapest on the market. Had cabbage been added it would've made every dish better and more filling. I spent $21 and change. Will not be returning to this restaurant. I am Domaine de Valier, and I am a food critic. I traveled the world in search of good restaurants and surprisingly new dishes. As well, I've been all across the United States trying new dishes. I was originally trained as a French cuisine chef with Asian accents during the 1990 phase of infusions. I also apprenticed under an Austrian chef for pastry and bread work.

The best Chinese food. Made to order, you see the kitchen. Clean place. They take your order over the phone if you want.

Great food, the prices are good for the quality and amount of food. Great for very hungry people or if you want leftovers!

Great restaurant to order and pick-up food. It tastes great and always made to order.read more

I'm crazy passionate about supporting private businesses in my little town. So much so that I…read moresometimes visit businesses that were not my favorite in the past just to see if they've changed. It's been over five years since I reviewed these folks and yup, they have changed, for the better! Atmosphere- None! That's right none and you can thank the pandemic for that! The small dining room is shut down and the walk-up counter is almost completely enclosed in plywood which I sincerely hope is temporary. See my pictures. I did notice that everything is spotless. Food- I wanted to compare apples to apples so I ordered my go-to stuff that I get at my 1st choice joint. So, a small pork rice, fried dumplings, and Mongolian Beef. It cost within a buck of my other place so who cares. It was ready quickly and very nicely packaged. The fried rice was just fine and as far as I could tell, virtually the same as my other place. Much to my surprise, the dumplings were better! The count was the same but there was more and tastier filling! Another surprise was the Mongolian Beef as it was also better! Although you can't see it in my picture, it had bunches of those baby corns that I dearly love. It also had chopped cabbage which was unexpected but tasty! So, One item was the same and two were better! I may need to change my allegiance!

This is a order up front and carry out or sit down and eat out of the foam box place.

Tucked in the corner of a dying plaza that has seen much better days. Trust me, parking won't be a problem!

-The best buffet in Highlands Cty!-…read more It's been around for over 13 years! Made it through the pandemic and always busy even in this tough economy. It's the Energizer Bunny of buffets! Arriving- They are in a huge plaza northbound on US Rute 27. Turn in when you see the MickyD's in front of it. Parking is a snap. Ambience- Way, way nicer than most casual buffets. Fancy lighting. There is an actual Koi pond with an ornamental bridge the kiddos will love. It's a big place with both booths and tables. Clean Men's restroom. I didn't check the Ladie's room because I wanted to avoid the screaming that would ensue! Casual dress or less is just fine. Customer Service- They bring your drinks and clear the plates. I've never had a problem, and they bring your check quickly. Pricing- Weekday lunch is around $15. Dinner is about $2 more. Dinner prices all day on Sunday. Extra seafood on Friday & Saturday nights. There is a small Senior Discount and special prices for the munchkins. There is a counter when you walk in, where you can pay before you are seated. I've never done that! I pay the server when I'm done and that's also just fine. Pro Tip #1- They do offer a full menu instead of the buffet and after dozens of visits, I've never noticed anyone ordering from it! Pro Tip #2- If your party is 6 or more, they are happy to make a reservation. Trust me and do it. Food- Eight buffet tables in the center of the room and a Sushi table and Hibachi Station along one wall. Over 100 choices. They have hand-dipped ice cream for dessert that is very popular. Pro Tip #3- The sushi table is very generic and that's not why you come here. The same is true of the few American items. Come here for Chinese food! Be a smart buffet patron and make your first trip a sampler plate. Go back for the selections you like best. 100 items will satisfy just about everyone. There is nothing fancy here. This is solid Chinese food, and you've seen most everything at other places. That's not a bad thing! Occasionally, one of my selections is not as hot as I would like but that is rare. Conclusion- I've been dozens of times as a single, couple, and in groups up to 12 folks and never had a bad time.

The food was clearly freshly prepared some adequate, some good some very good. The best part for me was the Huge Hibachi grill in the back. You get to select from a variety of freshly cut vegetables and a variety of proteins. I had mine prepare with a combination of Mongolian and Pepper sauces and it was quite good. I am definitely disappointed that like other places in town, they don't have fried rice. They have yellow rice, but not real fried rice. The service was very good, my drink was quickly filled when it got low. The tables are spaced out well and it wasn't loud despite there being a lot of diners including children. Can't say I will go her regularly but they have a selection of foods for everyone and you won't leave hungry.
