I had a chance to visit for lunch and found the food to be quite good. My wife and I were staying at the far eastern edge of Grace Bay, so this restaurant was visible on the way as we were driven by shuttle from our hotel to the tourist area. Thus, on this hot Saturday afternoon, I decided to visit by walking. The park is located on the other side of the road from Grace Bay Club, with plenty of car parking. There is a large airstream trailer where the cooking occurs, and an outdoor bar right next door (where you order, pay, and get your beverages. The bartender initially took my order, and after paying by credit card (including mandatory 12% tax and 10% service fee), I was given a numbered marker to take back to any picnic table so they knew when to deliver. The area had free wi-fi which was really useful. I got my Turks Head Draft Lager (I-AIN-GA-LIE) for $6 ($26 for a pitcher which isn't a bad price if with others), and ended up finishing it before my food came, so went back and ordered another pint (at which point I learned that they do not accept cash as payment). The beer was crisp and cold, perfect for drinking it outside on a day like this. The price of the pitcher goes down to $12 during happy hour (3-6pm daily). I ordered three things recommended by reviews, and none of them could be considered Caribbean food, but instead really well executed versions of good food: all of them were good to excellent. Mahi Tacos (choice of fried or grilled) (2 for $20) - a picture is better than words here for sure. will say the tortilla had been warmed/crisped beforehand, and it made a big difference. "Big Mac" Cheeseburger Egg Roll (1 for $6) - delivered right when finished. it was greasy with the inside still close to molten. But with thousand island dipping sauce and the ground beef/diced pickles/melted cheese filling, the combo really worked, especially with the cabbage provided. Poutine ($12) - I was surprised how good this rendition was. The demi-glaze gravy was excellent, really adding flavor. And the cheese curds were right on, slightly melted with a bit of pull. This version would work really well, even in Wisconsin. Just wish it had been delivered right when made, instead of letting it sit while the rest of the meal was being prepared. Those couple of minutes makes a big difference in the crispiness of the fries as they sit in liquid. Service was pretty much the same as I've found elsewhere on the island: does what is necessary without any level of enthusiasm.

It's been over five years since I reviewed these folks and yup, they have changed, for the better! Atmosphere- None! That's right none and you can thank the pandemic for that! The small dining room is shut down and the walk-up counter is almost completely enclosed in plywood which I sincerely hope is temporary. See my pictures. I did notice that everything is spotless. Food- I wanted to compare apples to apples so I ordered my go-to stuff that I get at my 1st choice joint. So, a small pork rice, fried dumplings, and Mongolian Beef. It cost within a buck of my other place so who cares. It was ready quickly and very nicely packaged. The fried rice was just fine and as far as I could tell, virtually the same as my other place. Much to my surprise, the dumplings were better! The count was the same but there was more and tastier filling! Another surprise was the Mongolian Beef as it was also better! Although you can't see it in my picture, it had bunches of those baby corns that I dearly love. It also had chopped cabbage which was unexpected but tasty! So, One item was the same and two were better! I may need to change my allegiance!

Specials on the board were of lunch and I was told by our pleasant waitress Amanda, we could choose breakfast or lunch on the weekend. I got to view both menus with fair prices and noted very full plates of specials coming out. One was liver and onions with mashed potatoes piled high. The older gentleman stated, "Now this is how liver and onions should be". The whole table was pleased with many eating that and the pork chop special. We chose to have breakfast and the pancakes were huge on the combo one. Both of us chose different potatoes and both were great. If anything the sausage patty was not to my liking. I like the actual patties. My husbands bacon was great. You get about 2 eggs with the specials. Sandy who is the owner is also the cook and training upcoming cooks. The couple was both there and the waitress staff was on point and actually friendly, unlike some places, this location felt like it could be our go to. Like at home, as some local bars feel, they welcome you. We will try sometime again if we can catch the hours as we just do not get going in the AM out of the house and I never want to feel a rush getting anywhere after 1pm when I know they are closing as most all places do in Lake Placid where we live.
