On my quest to discover desirable eateries in the SCV. Was craving good old-fashioned Chinese food. Reviewed many on yelp and discovered there's a few restaurants that incorporate Chinese with other AIP cuisine. China Wok had decent reviews and it was convenient. Just WOW! It was a weeknight and wasn't sure what to expect for a crowded restaurant or wait time. Arrived and there were a couple of tables with customers and waited for a person to greet us. It took a minute, but no big deal. Turns out this little gem of a restaurant is run by the sweetest lady and a chef. The lady does everything in the front of the house, server, busser and cashier, and probably everything else outside of the kitchen. For ambience it is classic old school, Chinese restaurant in California. Ha ha it's clean, tidy, and organized. Food was absolutely the freshest and flavorful I can remember. Started off with egg rolls and they give you some little wonton chips with a delicious dipping sauce. We had Chow Mein and the Moo-Sho Pork. The plates came with all the sides with delicious rice. The flavor and the vegetables was over the top for taste. The Moo-Sho was incredible and the plum sauce and pancakes were delicious IYKYK An added bonus is there hot tea, which had excellent flavor Overall, the food was excellent, and the service was great! I am absolutely happy to leave a review For another Santa Clarita small business who has been serving customers great Chinese food for almost 40 years! I first started eating there quite a bit in the early 1990s because I owned a clothing store in the same shopping center across from Home Depot on Soledad Canton Road. I happen to be driving down the road today, probably having not eaten there in 25 years. I am so glad I stopped in! The service was great and the food was delicious and it is just a nice place for lunch or dinner. I ordered the moo shu vegetable dish. It was delicious, I couldn't stop eating it! The veggies were all so fresh and perfectly cooked. My boyfriend is a vegetarian and from India and we have a very hard time finding things we both enjoy eating. We both LOVED this dish. The place only had one customer, which makes me sad. Deemed "the only good Chinese place in Santa Clarita" by my extremely picky parents, China Wok was a special treat throughout my childhood. Their sizzling rice soup and almond chicken were a godsend, and remain my go-to Chinese food choices to this day. The wonderful woman who mans the front of house always recognizes and remembers me, even as I've grown up and (an unacceptable amount) years have elapsed since my last visit. When I first moved to the SCV in 2021 this was my go to American mom and pop style Chinese combination special spot. I always have a special place in my heart for these places because they give you a ton of Chinese for a budget friendly price. However over the years post inflation the quality has taken quite a bit of a nosedive. I generally don't order the combos that are sitting on the heat lamp I like to have a custom-made house special chow mein which had a good quantity of meat most the times. However most recently they have shrank the containers and cut down on the meat however up charging the same item that was $9 and now currently sits closer to $15 with shrinkflation. Unless I'm really hurting for some Chinese I haven't been back unfortunately. Quite a shame I think I almost got to a first name basis with some of the employees. read more

Food was delicious I was feeling ill after my 12hour shift and wanted some wor wonton soup, before going home, so we ordered ahead and wait just 10mins. When I tell you I got home and the soup literally helped heal me from inside out!!! Delicious! The orange chicken and beef and broccoli were freshly made. Authentic Chinese food with the best and most sincere service of any restaurant in the SCV. The restaurant has been here more than 30 years with the same owners and they are always so welcoming. They have large tables to accommodate large parties but the ambiance is still quaint and nostalgic. The food is amazing and the variety of the menu is great. We love all of their shrimp dishes especially! They'll even make special items not on the menu by request. Love the entire experience every time! read more

We've been getting takeout from this place now for several years. Last few times the Soup has been cold and food Lukewarm. This time the soup was cold, and food was again Lukewarm. No Fortuin cookies or Sause. The Forchion cookies are always not that good, so we throw them out, so that didn't matter. As I waited for my food I only notice one couple eating inside. Another Customer waiting to pickup food was complaining her food was also cold. I noticed the Restaurant doesn't appear very clean and old and worn out. The Carpet is dirty and has lots of stains. The booths have Duck Tape over various spots throughout the Restaurant due to tiers in the seats. Hate to see what the Kitchen looks like. Her husband is the main cook and she manages the front with her dedicated employee, Mila. Ruby is a sweetheart and Mila keeps things moving with tending to tables along with handling to-go orders. The food is American style Chinese and very fresh. With excellent service and a quiet atmosphere, the restaurant has tasteful decor, formal dining and reasonable prices. They also have a beautiful hand embroidered framed tapestry hung on their wall to admire. Don't be mistaken for its older ambiance, it's still a lovely restaurant especially if you get to know its few workers. Red flag always empty no customers for a good reason. Went there over the weekend with my family we ordered chowmein, fried rice, shrimp dish, orange chicken and some beef broccoli. The food was not good at all, it taste like it was marinated in chemicals or something it had a weird taste. We looked at each other and we were like nooo definitely not eating this!! Something is wrong with this food. We asked for our check and the owner asked if we wanted to go boxes we said no, she never asked how everything tasted !! I think she got the picture.This restaurant looks very odd it's just there you never see customers come and go like a normal restaurant and they always have a closed sign on their door. This place is unfortunately not as good as it used to be. I've come here a lot over the years and the food tends to be lacking quality the more I come back. They still have good deals on their food but overall still not worth the price. Some of the items you get lack flavor, the fried rice I got for the lunch special didn't even taste like fried rice (Panda's is better). This sucks because the people who own this place are so nice and I just think they aren't making enough to keep up. A little dark but overall that doesn't mean bad food. I don't know what Real Chinese food is but it was fresh and was packed with flavor. I'd probably say the only disappointment I had was the fried rice. It seemed like rice covered in soy sauce. No eggs, Peas, carrots etc... Would I go there again? Yes Would I recommend it? Flavor Sizzling Rice Soup This dish was really amazing, the chicken was very flavorful in the presentation of the dish was quite entertaining. The kind hostess brought over the bowl of soup with the rice on the side. Once she placed the bowl in the middle of the table then she poured the rice over the hot soup and it sounded like rice Krispies cereal like I used to eat when I was a kid. The soup was very good, nice large chunks of chicken with vegetables and if you mix in the right amount of soy sauce in hot mustard you got yourself a winner. This place has been in Santa Clarita Valley for over 30 years, the owner who was gracious enough to share her story is super sweet, this establishment really is a corner stone of the Santa Clarita community so if you're in the mood for Chinese food please go support China wok. read more

Let me begin by saying, I have ate at a lot of China Wok restaurants from SFV to LA and have never been disappointed; until TODAY. I ALWAYS order Honey Walnut Shrimp (FAVORITE) as it is a dish you just can't go wrong with, the flavor of Honey Walnut Shrimp is an original taste all across any China Wok you dine or order from; at least from my experience. I have attached a pic of the Honey Walnut Shrimp I was served today, the mayo was just tossed on top not even mixed. It was literally FRIED shrimp with mayo on top and pineapples....which I found very oddly as I have never seen pineapple on the Honey Walnut Shrimp. I attached a pic from the internet which you could search on google and see what it should look like. Most places serve it with broccoli not required but it gives it a good flavor when you have a shrimp and a broccoli. Good thing my coworker was able to help me eat some of it because $22 dollars would have gone to waste. Customer service was great though, disappointed food couldn't match the great customer service from the lady in the front. read more

Ordered takeout from here the other night. We ordered vegetable fried rice, walnut shrimp and hot & sour soup. Three stars based on quality of food only. It was your mediocre Chinese food with nothing special about the taste. I was quite disappointed in the hot & sour soup as it was not nearly sour enough and had too much cabbage & cilantro in it (and I hate cabbage!). I've never had hot & sour soup where I had that much vegetables to spoon out. The walnut shrimp was just okay. It tasted like plain battered shrimp that was just thrown in with mayo glaze. Nice that it came with a side of white rice though. The vegetable fried rice was nothing worth writing about. As a Chinese-American myself, I truly want to support my local AAPI businesses and will give this place another try. Hopefully, they'll be able to redeem themselves with other dishes. read more

We ordered the Family Meal for 2, which came with delicious Sizzling Rice Soup (one of their specialties), rice paper chicken, fried Shrimp, fried rice and 2 entrees! We got Kung Pao Chicken and Mu Shu Pork -- both fresh and delicious. We also go the chance to chat with Ruby, who owns the restaurant. She was incredibly kind and welcoming to my fiancé and I. August 12th, 2024. Just Can't believe the years have flown by so fast. I wrote my first China Wok Review over 7 years ago. We have been going there regularly since then. Ruby, the owner usually waits on us and Connie and Meela clear the tables and also wait on the customers. China Wok's food is top rate. They start off every meal serving their appetizer of chips and sauce. Unlimited chips. China Wok has clean white fresh tablecloths, beautiful wall decorations, very comfortable booths, tables for large gatherings, and excellent service. Ruby, Meela, and Connie are very attentive. No charge for the chips or the tea. That's a plus. One of our favorites is their War Wonton Soup--plenty of wontons and generous with the meat; and not too salty. My wife is salt sensitive and she has to carefully watch her salt intake. China Wok's Shrimp dishes are also excellent. One of our favorite entrees is their Moo Goo Gai Pan. Plenty of chicken. We usually order the War Wonton Soup and Moo Goo Gai Pan and split each order. We'll continue enjoying our food at China Wok Restaurant,m in the years to come--probably one of the top ten restaurants in Santa Clarita. read more

Went here on Xmas eve for dinner with the relatives. Party of 16. The last time I ate here was about 20 years ago when I worked across the street. I remembered the food being really good back then. Last night was a different story. There was one lady seating people, taking payments and doing take outs. One lady was filling water glasses. One lady served food from the back. Not sure if there was more than one cook in the back? It took 30 minutes after we were seated before one of us went up to the desk to get a menu. After we ordered (maybe 15 minutes?), it took another 45 minutes before we finally started eating. A total of 90 minutes from the time we sat to the time we started eating. We saw one family walk out because of the long wait and no staff. The food was just so-so and the portions were small. You could tell everyone in the restaurant was frustrated waiting to order, their food, their check, etc., etc. I don't think i'll be visiting in the near future.
