After the remodel we came back and even though we felt the food was okay still was our go to because everyone is always really nice and friendly. But the most recent visit was not good at all. Service was good and friendly but the food left us very unhappy. We went in for lunch and ordered three meals. Two were fine but my lemon chicken was more like lemon rubber. The breast, which I confirmed it was suppose to be breast meat, was not chicken- not sure what it was! I was trying to cut and it would not. I tried a piece prior to trying to cut and was like chewing on rubber. So sad! If something else is replacing chicken ( the newest lab meat????), I hope they stop soon. We hadn't been here since Covid, but had a taste for their Chinese chicken salad, so we came in for lunch. There is an old saying that says "You can't go home again." This definitely applies here. The salad was very small, commensurate with a small price. It consisted of lettuce, carrots, crispy won ton pieces and a couple of pieces of green onions. No water chestnuts, no slivered almonds, no mandarin oranges and a minuscule amount of chicken. We also ordered the Ha Gow dim sum. Which was very good. Dining in, the place is surprisingly small, but the ambiance is nice. Still, you can tell they probably do a lot of takeout orders. I was a little bummed the sesame chicken was not on their lunch menu. Their sizzling rice soup only comes in servings of two or above and since I wanted to try an entree, I had to let that dream go as well. So! Here's what I got: Mongolian Beef Egg Roll Steamed Rice Chinese Chicken Salad Hot & Sour Soup That Hot & Sour Soup was perfectly warmed and had just enough spice to trigger my hiccups. Respect. The Mongolian Beef was more like Mongolian Steak! Great flavor, THICK morsels of meat; a little chewier, but definitely worth the trade-off. Boss. There were also complimentary wonton chips at the table, which is ALWAYS a pleasure. Lunch was great. Stuffed myself silly for less than $25 (tip included). Absolutely Horrible Experience - Avoid at All Costs I don't normally leave reviews, but this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Our server, an older man of Asian descent with short grayish hair, was extremely rude and unprofessional from start to finish. There were only two groups in the entire restaurant, yet he barely interacted with us beyond taking our order and dropping off our food. We ordered just three dishes and three waters, but he never once checked in to see if we needed anything. The real issue began when we got the check. My brother paid and stepped out to grab cash from his car while I stayed seated inside. The server came over, looked at the bill, and began insisting repeatedly that I hadn't left a tip. I explained that I wasn't the one paying, but he didn't care. He said, "You need to leave a tip and gratuity because I work very hard," then rushed to grab a pen and stood there staring at me until I wrote something down. Feeling incredibly uncomfortable, I wrote a small tip just to get him to stop and left the restaurant as quickly as I could. Shockingly, he then followed me outside into the parking lot, yelling that the tip "wasn't enough" and telling me never to come back--only to order takeout next time. At that point, I told my brother not to go back in at all. I've never experienced such harassment or unprofessional behavior from a server. This place clearly doesn't value its customers or basic respect. 100% the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Avoid this place completely. read more

We were sorry to see the restaurant take a pause, and were excited to see that it had reopened. We've been customers there for many, many years. The wife and I gave it a try tonight as we had heard conflicting information about "same owners" vs "new owners". Ownership: NOT the original family ownership. The owners of this restaurant are the same ones that own the Lyons Ave location. Many of the original servers are still there, though. Lyons is a 3-1/2 Star restaurant. Remodel: Minor remodel, floorplan is still the same but carpeting in the dining areas has been replaced with composite wood floors. It looks very nice and will be easier to keep clean. Some changes with tables. For those of you who are familiar with the entry, the wall on the right has been mostly removed. This opens up the entrance, but reduced wait seating and has people standing next to tables where people are eating, plus they lost seating on the other side of the wall for dining. No big deal. Menu: Same menu as far as we can remember. Prices are up about 20-25%. Food: Oh-oh. Wor Wonton Soup used to be served in a large bowl at the table and spooned into the two bowls for eating. Now, delivered in two small bowls. Broth lacked flavor, hardly any chicken or vegetables. Soup was lukewarm. Downgrade. Rice: Served cold. We didn't eat it, but took it home for the microwave tomorrow. Vegetable Soft Noodles: Good, smokey flavor but served lukewarm. Went home for the microwave. Mu Shi Pork: Used to be prepared tableside. Now brought from the kitchen already wrapped up. The wraps were fairly thick, used to be paper thin. The filling tasted good, but had hardly any vegetables. Was a mix of warm to lukewarm. Made us wonder if they were pre-made. Downgrade. End result is: Decent flavor but most of the food was not hot at all. Not sure if it's a return spot. Will probably try them again once they get past their "just opened" stage. read more

That being said, the new owners have upped the game, the service is outstanding and so is the food. Today, we walked in and they had some daily specials posted and we got their pork chop special, IMO, it was made Vietnamese style and was absolutely friggin wonderful. I will get that every time I go there now. I posted the picture of the special menu and they said that you can order that anytime even if you don't see it on the menu. Ever since the first time I came here about 15 years ago, to the food I had tonight, this place is tasty and very consistent. The food is always what you expect. The portion size is great, and the people who work here are the best. I go to this one as well as the one on Lyons. Food is the same but the people at this one really make the experience.
