I have yet to have a good experience here but every now and then the man wants Chinese and we go here because it's the closest to us and we're feeling lazy (and amnesiac, apparently). Not sure if it's chicken or pink erasers they've got under that breading and I'm pretty sure the fried rice is mixed with the day before's day before. China Wok is one of the few restaurants in the Highland/Alpine area, so we go here occasionally when we don't feel like driving farther. The food is consistently pretty good, but I've definitely had better elsewhere. The staff is nice, and I like having friendly places near home. read more

We just discovered this restaurant near us (through Yelp) and were really pleased. They are apparently under new management. The food was very tasty and the service superb. We were there on a Friday night and although many were already seated, we didn't have to wait long to be shown to a table. We spoke to others outside the restaurant before we went in and they said we would enjoy China Wok. The portions were large and lasted for another meal at home. We were pleased with the reasonable prices also. Just moved to the area and we will definitely be back. read more

I usually use Yelp to shout about great finds, but we had such a poor experience here I think I'm duty bound to warn folks to avoid China Wok. The packaged sauces couldn't liven up the gristly meats. Food = 4.5 stars. Service = 1 star. They open at 5p. I show up at 5:20p to place a carry out order and they say 30-45mins. Ok, I run a couple of errands and show up 45mins later. Waiting....waiting. I leave with order in hand 1h30mjns after placing order. I wasn't alone either. Lots of folks waiting an hour+ for orders they called in. First time there for me and the others waiting we're regulars who said they always take long to fill orders but this was exceptionally long. I'd go back because the food was really solid (tried 4 different apps and 4 different entrees---all were really good). Next time I will order an hour before I really want to have dinner. I got the Thai green chicken curry to go. It was the worst Thai green curry I've ever had. It tasted like they took some leftover Chinese curry and added a lot of green curry spices. Last minute dash on a Friday to get some dinner at 9:30 at night. We were greeted warmly and our food was brought out extremely quick. Having served an LDS mission to Hong Kong I have become a bit of a snob when it comes to Chinese food. The food was amazing. It was really outstanding the flavor was accented by wonderful sauces not too salty or saturated in soy sauce but true blends of Asian flavoring. The vegetables were cooked to perfection with a bite of crispness. This restaurant is under new management as of September 2016. So if you are reading negative reviews prior to that date ignore them. Whoever they have doing the cooking should be given a medal for deliciousness and authenticity. read more

This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. Good food, great prices, and amazing service! Food was fresh and delivered to the table quickly. They were very kind to my two sons too - coming out of the kitchen and talking to our boys directly, in kid friendly tones and language. Then they brought out suckers for the boys too. We had an enjoyable meal last night at China Wok (after seeing the hour-long line at Pizza Pie Cafe next door). We got the family meal that included orange chicken, Mongolian beef, and Lo Mein. I was impressed with the chicken and the beef, but the Lo Mein fell a little flat for me. Good service, no major complaints. read more

We love this little place. It's tucked back behind pizza pie cafe in highland. Our favorite thing are the cream cheese wontons, they are boss. We gave it 4 stars just because while all their food is prepared very fresh and not all dried out like most places, a couple of the dishes have been lacking in bold flavor. We love it! read more

We used to go to this restaurant when I believe it was under different ownership. We always liked their food and the service. We always have a large order because we have a tradition of ordering Chinese food when we have several relatives in town. This time the food was ok, not great, but ok. My biggest problem was their awful service. We ordered online, went to the restaurant to pick it up, and it took TWO HOURS to be ready!!! We understand that a large order will take some time to prepare, but not two hours! Not only was it not timely, but they got part of our order wrong. Very disappointed!! read more

This place has horrible customer service and take forever! Yes it was an extremely busy night for them but we walked in placed a to go order, paid for the food, and sat and waited. We waited for 55 mins before we complained about still not receiving our food. People that came in and sat down after we placed our order had already ordered their food eaten and were getting ready to pay. After an hour of waiting we finally got our food. We walked out to the car and checked our order and the cups of soup were filled 1/3 full seriously enough for 3-4 spoon fulls. We walked back in and spoke to manager who simply couldn't say anything but "we busy". So after realizing this wasn't going to get anywhere we brought the box of food back in and demanded our money back. They gave us our money and we left with no apology or sincerity from staff of wasting our entire night for absolutely nothing! The food was also very expensive and small portions. The food is consistently creative and flavorful, and owner-operators Jing and Bill are always warm and gracious. I encourage Paul and everyone else to give China Wok another try. I love China Wok! The food there is always amazing! You have to order the Coconut Shrimp! Bill (The Chief) always makes it in a homemade sauce. The Shrimp is crispy and the sauce is super yummy! The soup there is really good too! Not a huge fan of the noodles, but the mongolian Beef and honey chicken is super yummy! If your looking for a cheap meal, go for the lunch combos, there only $5.55. :) I have worked at China Wok for a full year and miss the food already! I wish i could give this place NEGATIVE stars. The food was cold and when we complained about the cold food they took it back and came out with Luke-warm food. Almost like they just stuck the plate into the microwave and brought it back out. The place was very dirty and looked run down. All of our food tasted old. Like it's been sitting in their fridge waiting to be warmed up. Nothing tastes like it was freshly made. The lo mein noodles had NO flavor. The worst part was that for 4 entree and 2 kids meals they charged us almst $100!!!! I would understand a charge that expensive if it were top notch food and service. But the food was cold and barely edible and the service was even worse. Every time we complained about the cold food you could hear the chef yelling in the back. We were the ONLY customers in that place & now I know why....save your money and go somewhere else. It was our first time there and will be our last. read more

It's a great place to get food. The workers there are friendly, the food is great. If you either order take out or go and sit down and eat you will get your food pretty fast. Definitely a place to try great food. I recommend it to anyone. I go there frequently. read more

The price was good but the food was okay. The fried rice was orange (which I've never seen before), the cheese wontons were over cooked and had a very very thin layer of cream cheese and everything else was just nasty. After eating it, I just felt gross and had wished we went somewhere else. I don't think we will be going here again. read more
