Did pickup on Friday for dinner and it was delicious! I love the fresh veggies that they give you. The chicken is always cooked perfectly and the steak has a lot of flavor. Excellent food, clean, and great service! My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and both ordered the chicken and Katsu. The Katsu was light, crispy and perfectly seasoned. We liked that the teriyaki chicken wasn't overly sweet; plus their chicken was cooked perfectly! It's become far too common these days for chicken at fast food places to be overcooked, dry, and burnt, but Happy Teriyaki is way above their competition. First of all, great service. I want these people to succeed. And I was glad to see the place filling up well before noon. With all the new office space around, I hope there is plenty of clientele. The chicken katsu was really good. If I'm not mistaken they use more authentic panko than some other local places that serve katsu. It's much richer. You can taste the difference. I wish I had doubled down on it. My only gripe is that I don't understand why teriyaki in the area seems to always be just sliced grilled chicken breast with some sauce drizzled on top. I went with a combo bowl of rice with orange and teriyaki chicken. I loved the teriyaki but wasn't a huge fan of the orange chicken, which was a little too close to chicken nuggets with orange sauce for me. I will say the service was great and the woman taking our order and bringing out our food was very helpful and friendly. Very clean, friendly, I wanted to like it, but the preparation was SLOW and the food was VERY sparse. I ordered a beef teriyaki bowl for lunch. The description said it was a "protein" with vegetables and rice. Beef was a dollar extra, for $10.95. The beef layer was paper thin across the top, maybe 1/8 of an inch thick at most, with an equally thin layer of steamed cabbage underneath, like one cabbage, leaf thick almost. The rest of the bowl was filled with rice. Tasted good, but it gave me a carb overload. In spite of several workers in the kitchen and almost no customers during the slow hour of 2:30pm, it took like 15 minutes (maybe 20) to prepare my order of a lone teriyaki bowl. I should've gotten an In-N-Out double double burger for $4.50 and it would've been more satisfying. And fast. read more
