I don't know why this place has godawful reviews. I think people are forgetting that it is a cheap Chinese buffet. If you are expecting high quality Chinese food, this is not the place. It is a pretty standard buffet; all the food is pretty good and it is not at all overpriced. Yes, there was food that was a little stale and cold, but most of the food was hot and fresh. They were constantly refilling the food as well, which I really appreciated. I would recommend it if you just want a cheap Chinese buffet. The ladies serving us were very rude. I've eaten in twice and both times they seemed disgruntled I was ordering an entree rather than getting the lunch buffet. They rushed us the whole time and were staring/pointing at our table and talking about us. I asked if there was a problem because it was getting very uncomfortable, to which they responded no and backed off. It made the whole lunch date not enjoyable. Tasted like week old reheated chinese food that you found in the back of your refrigerator. Service: Horrible. As soon as we walked in we were yelled at that it was now dinner not lunch. I felt like saying did I ask you to inform me of the time??? We never saw the waitress except to give her our drink order, never again for refills or anything. I'm not a fan of buffets, but this was the highest rated chinese restaurant in this area that was opened and the pictures looked pretty good. The staff was all very nice and the restaurant was clean. I liked that all the food had distinct flavors, unlike many restaurants. I wish more of the food was labeled, especially the sushi. I only tried one roll, as the rest were not identifiable to me. I enjoyed most of the food. They had cakes that looked good, but were pretty dried out, they need to get different containers for them to keep the air out. The won ton soup was very flavorful and I liked that you could add green onions and they had the crispy noodles. Overall, I enjoyed my lunch and would visit again if in the area and wanting chinese, but I don't think I'd make a special trip to get it. I was also disappointed that one of the pictures appeared to have something like walnut shrimp, but it was not on the buffet. It was the main draw for me. read more

I am so glad I found this inconspicuous Chinese restaurant in a shopping center in East Knoxville. China Wok has become my new all-time favorite Chinese buffet in Knoxville. There are other Chinese in Knoxville that have an enormous selection of food, however, China Wok's approach seems to be having all the favorites on the buffet and none of the fluff. My favorite part of China Wok is the sushi. They have a sushi chef who makes the sushi fresh. I think it's delicious. It's a step up from sushi you'll find at Kroger or Publix - but not as good as you'd find at a sushi specialty restaurant. For me, it's perfect to fulfill that craving I have for sushi sometimes without having to pay an arm and a leg at a place like Nama for sushi. This place is wonderful. Great bang for your buck - and they have tasty and satisfying items on the buffet. I visit China Wok at least twice a month. read more

The food was ok. Can't honestly complain due to the pricing. But my waitress was asking for a tip, even though she only gave me a drink. I don't mind tipping if you're being consistently useful, but only giving me a drink and expecting a tip is outrageous. The moment she realized I wasn't giving her a tip. I think the food is great. My family got me hooked on the food. The dessert if ok for me but the ice cream is awesome. The reason why I put a 4's that I had to go to the restroom. I had to hold my breath because it smelled awful I looked like it hadn't been cleaned ever. If I didn't need to go badly I would have left the restroom. I went in on the suggestion of a co-worker food wasn't proper temperature even after cooked on the grill to order that was barely warm I advised the chef I had a severe allergy to peppers and the previous customer asked for extra Sriracha sauce which got into my food so I couldn't eat it I spoke to a female who said bring my receipt back for a replacement I was willing to see if it would be different but when I went in the guy working the counter refused to honor the promise of the lady I spoke with ... just as well I have no desire to die anyway ...
