After seven years as loyal customers, we are absolutely done! My husband, my sister, and I have been customers here since we moved to Knoxville in 2019. Over the past seven years, we have spent hundreds of dollars dining in and, especially, ordering takeout. We genuinely enjoyed this restaurant for years and consistently supported it, including leaving generous tips even when picking up takeout. Unfortunately, our recent experiences have been so disappointing that we will not be returning. The last time my sister and I dined in, we ordered appetizers that came with peanut sauce. The peanut sauce was watery and almost completely flavorless. I politely mentioned it to our waitress, who apparently told the owner. An older woman then came out of the kitchen and went around asking other customers near us how everything was, yet never approached our booth or addressed our concern. Instead, she stared in my direction and gave me what I perceived as an extremely hostile look. I found the interaction uncomfortable and unprofessional. A longtime customer who politely raises a concern about the food should at least be spoken to. Despite that experience, we decided to give this restaurant one final chance with takeout today. Unfortunately, that was a mistake. My sister and I each ordered the dinner portion of Mongolian Beef, spice level 2. Both meals were virtually flavorless. The sauce tasted watered down, and the containers were loaded with onions with very little beef and barely any scallions. The small amount of beef we did receive was tough, difficult to chew, and loaded with gristle. In our experience, the quality of the meat was extremely poor and nothing like what we remember being served here in the past. We paid for Mongolian beef, not containers primarily filled with onions and a small amount of tough, gristly meat. I finally threw my Mongolian Beef in the trash because I couldn't eat it. My husband had ordered the Green Curry Chicken, so my sister and I split his meal instead. Amazingly, we encountered the same problem again. The green curry sauce was so thin and watered down and had virtually no flavor, and there was very little chicken in the container. So this wasn't simply one bad entrée. Two Mongolian Beef dinners and a Green Curry Chicken--all three entrées from the same order--were disappointing. Combined with the watered-down peanut sauce from our previous visit, there appears to be a pattern in what we've personally been served recently. I honestly feel ripped off. After supporting this business for seven years and spending hundreds of dollars here, receiving food with so little meat and sauces that taste watered down feels disrespectful to us as longtime paying customers. Dinner portions should provide reasonable amounts of the protein you're actually paying for. This review is not based on one isolated bad meal. We've been customers since 2019 and know what the food here used to taste like. That's precisely why the difference is so noticeable. After the watered-down peanut sauce, the uncomfortable way my concern was handled during our previous visit, and now three disappointing entrées in one order, we've given this restaurant enough chances. After seven years of loyalty and hundreds of dollars spent here, we are done and will not be returning. I was very sad when Knoxville lost Taste of Thai, but Little Bangkok is very yummy! The basil fried rice is quite similar and I would certainly recommend to anyone that loves a good basil friend rice. The curry was also very tasty. We got donuts to go and they were as expected. Turns out, I don't have to go all the way to Thailand to get Thai food, a Little Bangkok is all I need. The weekday lunch special was a great way to "test the waters". The vegetable spring roll was fresh and I upgraded to the tom yum soup, which had a decent spicy/sour blend but was really just broth. I enjoyed the green curry with chicken. Could definitely use some more Thai basil or ginger and wasn't hot at all for being a medium spice, but it was just enough to satisfy for a quick lunch. read more

I came here for the first time today around lunch time. The place was pretty busy and I could see why once I had their food. They have a Thai menu and also some Chinese inspired dishes on their menu along with good options for kids. I decided to try the Pad Thai and their spring rolls and Thai iced tea. The food came out pretty fast and was hot and delicious. The Thai tea had great flavor and a good balance of sweetness to it. The spring rolls were crispy and hot and served with a delicious dipping sauce. The pad Thai had great flavor to it. The chicken was well cooked and plentiful. I liked that they had some raw onions on the side along with the usual things because it added a nice crunch to it. It's a nice little place very open on the inside and they have a little patio for sunny days. Today wasn't the day to eat outside because of the rain but I can definitely see the draw on a nice day sitting out there enjoying some tea and delicious food. I want to come back and try other dishes. It's a nice place for families or to just hang out with friends catching up. read more

**VEGAN review ** Came here for lunch. Menu is marked what items can be made vegan. I ordered green curry. The waitress came back from the kitchen to tell me it has fish sauce. She pointed out several others that could be vegan. I went with red curry and brown rice. It's nice to not have an up charge to have brown rice. I had fresh rolls. The sauce with that isn't vegan, so the waitress brought me 3 different sauces to try. They're playing smooth jazz at a low volume and the restaurant temperature is good. Great experience. Very excited!!! Love Thai food and finding FRESH ROLLS here has been a real chore!! Kroger's will make them but .. come on the Thai restaurants just don't seem to want to make them.. BINGO... in the same shopping center as Mellow Mushroom and Water into Wine, on the corner is Little Bangkok.... They do have a note on their door saying they're having trouble getting help so their service may be a little slow... you know what I don't care if the service is slow as long as I get service and I'm able to order what I want and it's good!! They have my Fresh rolls. I am so excited and they are good. I also love salt and pepper calamari, and I love the pineapple rice and I love the papaya salad. They have all of these. The menu is huge offering everything you can think of as far as Thai food goes . I certainly hope they're able to find the help they need, but I will most definitely will wait with patients as the food they prepare is wonderful !!! They have a very large lunch menu which includes just about every type of curry there is. I got green curry, three at our table got yellow curry, and one got moo goo gai pan. I heard no complaints. I tasted the yellow curry and thought it was a little bland. My green curry had just the right amount of heat and spice. I'm the only one who asked for extra heat. The server said I could choose between 1 and 5. I first chose 3 but she warned me that would be pretty hot, so I backed it down to 2 and it was just right. Green curry tends to be a little spicier than the other curries. That's why I usually choose green. If I order yellow curry, I will probably go with level three heat. What I like about Little Bangkok's lunch menu is that they have several dishes without green bell pepper. Many Asian restaurants have amnearly all their dishes top heavy with bell pepper. They will leave it out, but few will replace it with a different vegetable. Two people at our table can't eat green bell pepper without consequences, so it was nice they had options. The lunch specials came with a choice of soup or egg roll. My daughter got soup and an appetizer of a basil spring roll. It came with peanut sauce. I was jealous and will order that next time. The service was good even though they were short staffed that day. The service must be really good on days they're fully staffed. There's ample parking in the strip shopping center and the decor is pleasant. We got there at 2:00 and they were still busy. read more

When we walked in we were promptly greeted and seated. It smelled great and we were excited to get into it. We started with several appetizers. The shrimp spring rolls were first. Fresh ,crisp vegetables and a slightly spicy sauce made these quite good. I would certainly order more of those on the next visit. Then came bang bang shrimp. These were served quite differently than what I am used to. These were essentially shrimp egg rolls. I loved them! One order is 4 shrimp. They were a little heavy on the oil and grease. After that came the larb salad prepared medium hot. It was well sauced and quite good. It had the traditional seasoning I am used to. My only suggestion is to serve it with some cabbage to scoop it with. It came in a bowl with just one piece of iceberg lettuce. Overall it was quite good. Finally my entree of tofu massaman curry came out. I ordered it 4 out 5 spicy. It was delicious! Lots of tofu and carrots as well as onions and surprisingly some pineapple. It all worked together. I would order it again for sure. Service was good. Friendly but busy. Prices are fair for what you get. Recommended for sure. read more

We called an in order for Massama curry chicken with brown rice and an order of Hot and sour soup. When we arrived I picked up the order. We open our order at home to find the Massama was runny like soup. Not a delicious creamy dish it should be. Very unattractive. We ordered brown rice but got white. The hot and sour soup had random pieces of chicken in it. Which if you're vegetarian that's not appealing. We were not happy about the order. Agree with other reviewers in that they need to lose the sullen, rude, indifferent servers. Food was terribly salty and very subpar so much so that we didn't eat it. We paid and left. The review is for the Som Tum and Larb Kai which were both some of the best I've ever had. We did have an issue with a dish not coming out with the rest of the food and the meat in the Pad Prik/Chicken Fried Rice was a little chewy & underwhelming. But definitely go for the salads. read more

This place is disgusting , we went an hour before close and they told us they were closing early. No problem we came back 2 days later. We are a party of 4 and ordered all sort of different Plates to share family style. Out of over $100 worth of food the only thing that was good were the spring rolls. The pad thai was over cooked and tasted like fish. The curry was a huge portion but the chicken was rubberish I think they boil it. The Mongolian beef was filled with c beef that was vein. My first time ordering from here and I ordered my usual (Panang Curry). It was delicious! I ordered the 3 star heat level and I thought that had a good balance of flavor. It wasn't overly hot to where I couldn't taste the creamy flavors from the coconut milk. The other dishes tasted good, but nothing too special about them. I was hoping the crunchy wonton chips would come with the Hot & Sour soup, but there wasn't. I will definitely come here again and ordee something more adventurous. read more

We have been living in the Knox area for a year after moving here from NYC. I have been searching for Thai food that compares to the authentic, flavorful Thai in NY and this is the spot! Everything we have tried is very flavorful. We tolerate spice well and this place doesn't play with the spice! I stick to spice level 3 here and my nose runs-seriously-so flavorful & good! It.was.love. Only during Thanksgiving do I hear him make so many approving food grunts. Savory and flavorful. I ordered Pad See Eaw with chicken. I know, snooze fest, but was craving something comforting and basic. It was good. Not great, nor is it the best version I've had, but it was fine. Not much chicken or soy sauce, thus not much substance or flavor to it. I had to add my own chili paste and soy sauce at home. Tons of well-cooked broccoli and (my requested) carrots, though! I crunched away like a happy 'lil rabbit. Lastly, we had an order of the 2 veggie spring rolls. Unexpectedly super spicy. Thought it was the sauce, but it was something they marinated the cabbage mixture in. I took a few bites and gave hubby the rest of mine. I firmly believe that a meal is not just about the food but the overall experience because if I was solely basing this review on the food itself, I would probably score it about a five. You see, the Chicken Pad Thai was seasoned great and had a fantastic spice level. Everything about the dish was leading me to believe that I was about to embark on a journey to noodle nirvana. But then I took a bite of chicken and immediately spit it out. The chicken itself was rubbery and felt almost as if it wasn't completely done. I checked each piece and while it seemed to be cooler all the way through, I couldn't get use to the texture of this chicken. I scooped all of it out and just ate the noodles. Now, we also had appetizers which included the Bangkok platter - which featured 2 pieces of multiple appetizers - crab Rangoon, teriyaki chicken, coconut shrimp, and spring rolls. Everything was kind of bland and just okay. Now for the redeeming points: the pad Thai minus the chicken was really good. Also, the service was amazing. I was so impressed with the waitress. She was super attentive. She kept our drinks filled. She was there every time we needed anything and was super personable. Knoxville holds their own in the Thai department, but for me, Little Bangkok, is on my weekly lunch rotation. It's on my rotation for a reason; the service is consistently attentive but not overly so, the food strikes me as authentic and the spice is second to none. Let's discuss the spice here for a moment. In this establishment, "Thai hot" is not for the weak and weary. I love "Thai hot" most anywhere but at Little Bangkok. There are few people I know that can handle this level of ghost pepper on their food. This is not a negative; it's my personal preference. Just know this going in.
