Was in town for the night and needed a Chinese food fix. Perfect choice! The ladies working there were so sweet and helpful. They even gave tips on how to roll perfect egg rolls! Food here was tasty and very satisfying. We ordered the bbq wonton soup, combo fried rice, sweet and sour pork, general's chicken, and walnut shrimp and none of these dishes disappointed. I read a lot of reviews about nearby Cantonese restaurants and how they are "The Best". China Wok wins my nomination for "Best Cantonese" in the area hands down. This is not a glamorous location, actually far from it. It is some what run down, tucked in behind a gas station and across the street from an auto parts store. But the food shines through and the service is friendly. Stand outs for me are the Salty Fish & Chicken fried rice, Ong Choy w/garlic, Steamed Chicken and OMG (not on the menu) Preserved Vegetables w/Fatty Pork!!!! Check out the Daily Specials Board or ask about what's fresh. They also do your American'ized Chinese standards quite well. Why not 5 stars? A successful trip to the outside bathroom is worthy of the Congressional Medal of Honor. But it is a small price to pay for such excellent food. Cheers! read more

Just an update to my last review. So, I went back to try the Beef Won Ton with Rice Noodle Soup. This was delicious!! (Note: This may be an item not on the menu but can be requested. The Beef Won Ton is on the menu.) Once again the Rice Noodle was awesome. The skin they use to wrap the Won Ton was also fresh....the meat inside the Won Ton very tasty....nice and easy to bite into. The Won Ton here makes me scream I want more!! Thought twice about ordering one more bowl....but my stomach said otherwise. Ahhh.........try it!! read more

We were in the area and ordered at the restaurant and they did an amazing job of rushing our order even though they were nonstop getting togo phone calls and were clearly very busy (even during shelter in place-- a sign of great food!) That was a mistake since this is not the twice cooked pork I expected. This version is not authentic at all, since the pieces of pork are thick versus thinly sliced. The flavor of the dish was ok, but the quality of the pork wasn't very good since you could taste a pork-y flavor. The only positive is that they didn't skimp on the rice and gave you a huge serving. However, I would not order this dish again, and would have to think twice about ordering other items from here based on this experience. read more

It shares a parking lot entrance with BOFA. AMAZING! I just drove out of the exit and BAM -- hello parking spot for China Wok. When I entered, the entire restaurants' staff was eating lunch. Whoops. That's what I get for walking in at 2pm. A lady quickly greeted me and asked if I wanted food to go. Yes. I'm hungry. Feed me please. I glanced at the menu and noticed their prices. Things ranged from $6.95 to $9.95 on the regular. But AHA! I found the lunch menu side. SCORE! I quickly decided upon C3, the combo with sweet & sour pork, chow mein, and an eggroll. $7.50. Not shabby. Now, here comes minus 1 star... I sat down and waited for my food to come. None of the people at the table got up. They still kept eating for the next 15 minutes. Is my food requested in the back? Is there another cook in the back that I don't know about? Do people cook quietly? I don't hear anything. And then.... I saw the cook get up and start cooking my food. WHAT? Really? You just started cooking it??? And then my food came out 5 minutes later. o_O??? Well, the chow mein was REALLY GOOD. It wasn't too oily, which was what I expect from most, if not all Chinese restaurants. The sweet & sour pork was really tasteful, since it was not DOUSED in the sauce. YES. Now heres the other minus 1 star.... The eggroll was soggy, lifeless, and tasteless. And I decided to stop eating it after 1 bite. It just wasn't right. The other sucky part of the meal was the end: the fortune cookie. I expected a crunchy sweet cookie, yet my tastebuds were met with a stale, cardboard tasting brown thing :( China Wok. I'm a huge fan of Tomato Beef Chow Mein and this restaurant has the best dish of this kind. I usually ask for less meat and more bean sprouts. The sauce is soooooo good! They also have one of my old favorites, and that is Chop Suey. It's not on the menu but you can ask for it. This is old school Chinese/American food and I love it. The service was prompt and friendly. But the good was absolutely below par and missing the taste. We ordered the shrimp/ bbq noodles and seafood hot pot dishes. the protein (shrimp, squid, scallop on both dishes were absolutely soooo salty!!!) It felt like the protein was cooked separately before and got tossed in right before they bring out the dishes. So the noodle has no taste while the protein as extremely salty. When I arrived into the parking lot, I was stunned that my family had actually decided to go here. I had to use the bathroom (located outside but still part of the building). The doors were left unlocked, which could allow in homeless people or people seeking shelter. The lady who sat us not only handled our plates and utensils, but was also counting money. She constantly ignored my mom or would hold off responding to her requests. Not once did I see her wash her hands or go to the back to possibly do so. The food was mediocre. And, there will be a next time, because the food was very good. It was still hot when I received it, so I was happy about that. Everything was very tasty and flavorful, and a good portion size. The mushuu vegetables came with the plum sauce and pancakes, the Tofu in Secret Spicy Sauce was tender and full of fun vegetables, General chicken was tasty (a tiny bit overcooked, but we ate it all), mixed vegetable prawns were delicate and fresh, chow fun was delish, and the eggplant was cooked perfectly. My husband and I used to live down the street from this place, and it was our go to take out spot when we didn't know what we wanted for dinner. We even ate here once on Thanksgiving. The woman that works there is always very polite and nice. We enjoy the fried rice, potstickers (you can tell they are homemade - even the wrapper), and the chicken salad. If I'm feeling sick, I get their brothy wonton soup and it hits the spot. The place is nothing fancy, but it's a great spot when you want something quick and comforting. read more

It was really easy ordering takeout from here and they were nice on the phone even with my order being a little complicated. They are very fast and food was ready for pick up in 10min, nice! Arrived and had a good chat with the hostess and she offered me more spicy sauce for my husband's spicy fried rice. Everything hot and neatly packed up. Restaurant was large and a little upscale from usual cheap noodle spot. Nice amount of parking and location was very easy to reach from the 101. Unfortunately the fried rice wasn't very good. Pretty gummy and bland, but lots of egg and chicken so that was decent. My Vegetarian chicken chow mein was wonderfully chewy and flavorful and the portions are all very generous. Very nice having tofu and veggie meats as well as lots of seafood/duck/chicken/beef options to satisfy everyone.
