Not sure what happened to this place. We got pho and vermicelli with grilled pork via DoorDash. I'm wondering if they have a IDGAF pot of soup for delivery. Was in the area visiting family in the hospital and felt like something tasty and Asian flavors. This pho place was the closest and seems decently rated. The staff were nice enough...but the food was missing something! I usually fix up my pho with lots of hoisin sauce and siracha but it didn't really help. I tried the broth before adding anything and it was nothing special...no distinguishing pho flavors stood out. The portions were small for it being considered large and the meat was skimpy and tough. The egg rolls were just ok. Edible but again, they were not close to the best I've had. They were a bit too big and greasy! So considering there are probably plenty of other pho places in the Bay Area, maybe try one of those. Good for a quick bowl of pho or vermicelli noodle. My go-to in this area. This place does pho well with high quality broth and good meat - particularly the rare steak / eye of steak round. The pork vermicelli is also good. It has a large menu with a bunch of other dishes, but you should come here for the pho or vermicelli. Service is efficient, go up to the counter to pay. As mentioned by a few other reviewers, Pho Vi Hoa is no longer fantastic but still quite good. Everything is more expensive since the pandemic so it's hard to fault them for the price increase even though it does seem odd to pay $20 for pho. The broth is still the star of the show: rich and tasty. Other pho places are probably jealous. The meat used to be very high quality -- it's still solid but not the same. Get P11 if you're new and not sure. P06 for a little more fat and flavor. The other compelling item is the deep fried eggs roll. No, it's not good for you but it sure tastes good. It comes piping hot so wait a few mins before trying to eat it. These alone are a reason to consider four stars. But alas the little things drag it back down to three. My booth wasn't that clean (they promptly wiped it for me) and the water glasses look suspicious. Is Pho Vi Hoa still the best pho in the Mountain View area? Mom and I have been going to Pho Vi Hoa for years. For a good time, it was one of the few spots in proximity to Mom's house in Menlo Park where we could count on getting good Vietnamese food. Conveniently located in the Village Court Shopping Center in Los Altos at the corner of El Camino Real and San Antonio Road, there is a parking lot for customers. The restaurant is casual in decor; a single large dining room with carpeted floors and rows of booths and tables with wooden chairs. The menu offers classic Vietnamese fare from APPETIZERS, PHO, Rice Plates, SEAFOOD NOODLE SOUP, RICE VERMICELLI BOWL, CHOW MEIN, FRIED RICE, to TRADITIONAL COFFEE, REFRESHMENTS, & DESSERT. They do have KIDS MEALS as well as a small VEGETARIAN SECTION for herbivores. They don't normally serve lettuce & mint with their CHA GIO, but they have happily given it to us upon request. Their version of these DEEP FRIED EGG ROLLS are perfectly crisp and golden (not with the bubbled wrapper that gets chewy at other places) and are served piping hot. The Large size bowls of PHO are pretty grand in size and they don't skimp on the rare beef nor broth - a nice big bowl of comfort food, if you ask me. My first time here and I wasn't disappointed! I've been craving pho and the broth was delicious! They had a lean meat option which I thought was cool because I'd never seen that before. I stuck with my usual order eye round steak and brisket! We also had an order of the fried egg rolls which were larger than I'm used to so no complaints here! Those were also very crispy and good. I got the Thai tea too and I liked it was a big size! It was good but just tasted a little different than I'm used to. But like I said still delicious! The brisket pho comes with quite a good amount of meat, but could come with more noodles in my opinion. It's still filling, and most importantly the broth is very very good. Other menu items are good but not the best I've had. For example I've had the C1 Marinated Pork on Rice and it was good, but meat wasn't the most flavorful. I do not receommend this pho restaurant. The ambiance is sterile and dark. It took a really long time to order lunch and it was late around 2 pm. I saw a Costco chicken on a table near the back where they were assembling to go boxes - the chicken had been picked apart so I really hope that was not the chicken used in my Pho Ga (gasp). This place has the worst pho I've ever eaten in my whole life. I ordered the Pho Tai for my kid and a Bun Thit Nuong for myself. I didn't realize the pho tai was old broth until I tried it myself after feeding it to my kid. I was so mad that the soup tasted a bit sour and you can tell it's old soup if you've eaten pho your whole life. I took one bite of the shrimp from the bun thit nuong and it was super greasy and the pork was super hard to eat to the point where I couldn't take another bite. Two bites total and I lost my appetite. The table was very dirty when we sat down and no one really greeted us while we stood around. The water that they serve to us is directly from the sink and strangely you can taste it. This place is also extremely expensive. Almost $20 for a kid size pho and also another $20 for the bun thit nuong. The only thing that was good was the ice coffee which was probably like $7 because my total came out to be like $47. I will not come back and I wouldn't recommend anybody coming here either. Go use your money on somewhere that is better. The high chair was extremely dirty, the table was dirty, and the cups that they served to us were dirty. They really don't care about the cleanliness of the restaurant. I had to go wash my hands before leaving the establishment because everything was so sticky. Luckily, the folks at Pho Vi Hao were in full force and had their electricity still. Oh man, they were busy left and right with to go orders and in person dining!
