Super sweet and easy going family business. Small but cozy Chinese spot off midrivers mall. The best orange chicken and crab Rangoon. Can watching them freshly cook it in the back when you pay.

A small, hole in the wall place with okay Chinese food but some good lunch values. China Wok has a variety of lunch meals under $6. I had the orange chicken lunch special, which came with a rice choice and egg roll. The fried rice and egg roll were overcooked. The rice also lacked imagination, consisting mostly of rice and scrambled egg. My chicken was hot and moist and covered in thick, sweet, almost jelly-like orange sauce. Many local Chinese places don't have indoor dining during COVID. Thankfully, this one does. Tables aren't distanced but I suspect China Wok does more in takeout than dine-in. Other recommended COVID precautions were mostly in place.

Worst food, post stickers were tasteless and the fried rice tasted burnt. I would not recommend.

The food was good, but sadly it's overshadowed by a delivery driver with a terrible attitude.

The chicken was very dry and the sauce for the general Tso chicken was little to none. I won't be going back.

The restaurant itself is cozy and simple, but don't let the size fool you--this place is focused on serving very good food. The highlight of the visit was the soup dumplings, which arrived in a bamboo steamer basket. The dumplings were tender and delicate, and each one was filled with rich consommé (soup) and flavorful meat. When you bite into them, be careful because the dumplings are full of hot broth that bursts out. The soup inside was packed with flavor and made the dumplings stand out. The sandwiches were also excellent. Whether you choose the pork or the beef, the bread was perfectly crunchy and the meat inside was very flavorful. It made for a great balance of texture with the crispy bread and tender meat. Another dish that really stood out was the mashed cucumber salad with hot pepper oil. It was fresh, slightly spicy, and very refreshing alongside the dumplings and sandwiches. Overall, Fan's Soup Dumplings feels like a hidden gem in St. Charles. It's a small restaurant that focuses on doing a few dishes very well, and the quality of the food really shows. Overall: A small but very good restaurant serving authentic soup dumplings, excellent sandwiches, and flavorful sides. As you can see in the photo, there were a decent number of pieces, and they were substantial. Broccoli was stir-fried perfectly, cooked with a slight crunch. The amount of sauce was suitable, enough to coat the food without being excessive. The sauce was not too thick, not runny, and not too salty. The rice was fine, and the portion was sufficient. The egg roll was crisp and not greasy. Food is served with a packet of sweet and sour sauce, a packet of soy sauce, and a packet of chili powder. Packaging -- food is served in a plastic bowl with a clear lid and placed a brown paper bag. Value -- excellent! The meal I ordered was a lunch special. You can choose: 1) one entree from 30 options 2) white or fried rice 3) 1 egg roll or 2 crab rangoon. The price for all of this is $8.75 before tax and tip. For $0.70 more, you can add hot and sour soup or egg drop soup. Or for $1 more you can add wonton soup. All this to say, you can get a great lunch for about $10. Service -- great! The owner is nice. The speed of service is outstanding. The time it takes to get your food is as fast -- or even faster--than at fast food restaurants. Ambiance -- good. Almost all customers will order for carryout, but you can eat in the restaurant if you want. There are 3 or 4 tables. There is a fridge, if you want to order soda. Everything is clean. If you are looking for fine dining or a date night, you might be disappointed. But otherwise, the interior is perfectly fine. I highly recommend Emperor China!

It's just a family affair with dad cooking and mom and kids taking orders. The boneless spare ribs are cut small & absolutely delicious. She said they are not barbecue spareribs, but it tastes like Chinese barbecue sauce to me. The small carton is jam packed and more than enough for 2 people. I also really enjoyed their Mu Shu Pork as well. I ordered mine with extra green onions and extra plum sauce. Yum! The Singapore Mei Fun gets 5 stars! Phenomenal. Huge and packed with flavor. If you have a dry curry, you will love this. I'm giving this place five stars for what it is. I'm not comparing it to fine dining, but I am comparing it to other carryout Chinese and this is fantastic.
