I am so pleased to have come across this Chinese restaurant. They have the best egg rolls I've had since moving to the area ten years ago!! I had the sesame chicken and fried rice and all were delicious. I see they have a "family for two" meal that I will be ordering when family visits. I have been going to 101 Asian for over two years , several times a month. I usually go for lunch, but have enjoyed dinner there. My go to meal is beef egg foo young with egg drop soup and egg roll. The young woman who mans the dining room is very nice, efficient and even remembers my order. The young man cooking comes out occasionally to bring my food when busy. I have brought friends and family often. They all appreciate the quality of meal. I strongly suggest to anyone to try their food. read more

I've been here a couple times, and it was fine. The interior is lovely, and they separate themselves from the (at least 5) other Chinese restaurants in the 3-mile area by having a creative menu. I think they are trying to represent "The Hits" in Asian Cuisine. Maybe? The huge amount of Pad Thai was okay. I dined inside and ordered an egg roll, egg drop soup, and house special beef (which comes with steamed rice or fried rice and I chose the fried rice). Overall, I really like this place and will definitely be a regular customer. I was the only person dining in on a Monday night but there was a steady stream of third-party delivery drivers in and out while I was there. They do a strong delivery and carry out business. Customer service is excellent here and everyone was very personable and service was fast & friendly. Like your Aunt & Uncle and you just want to give them a hug when you leave. LOL! My egg roll came out immediately after ordering which was my first hint that it was cooked prior to my ordering it. It was lukewarm, but good. Next came the egg drop soup which was a little more thick with egg than what I like and was missing green onion ...and I also like a little sesame oil in mine, so this was unremarkable as well. The little crunchies you get with the soup help. The absolute star of my dinner was the house special beef which is beef cooked with dried red chili peppers, orange peel and slivers of garlic and the fried rice. It was outstanding and I already want to eat it again! The dish comes with perfectly steamed fresh broccoli which was delicious, especially considering I hate broccoli. Dipping it in the sauce that was on the beef made it not only edible, but tasty! And that fried rice was amazing!! Just looking at it when it came out I knew it was going to be good. It was packed with lovely sautéed vegetables and was nice and dark so you knew it was packed with flavor. I have been here once before and had the Taiwanese beef soup and recall that I loved that as well. I'm really looking forward to trying more of their menu! P.S. You'll see a lot on the menu you recognize from other Chinese spots. However, 101 Asian has a special diet menu of items prepared without salt, sugar, corn starch, and MSG. My steamed veggies and chicken were excellent and might appeal to someone not necessarily trying to eat healthy meals. (I confess, I added salt and low sodium soy sauce.). I think we caught them on a bad day. First time trying. We threw out the sweet and sour chicken and the spring rolls. The rolls tasted chemically and the chicken wasn't able to be chewed and had no flavor. The sauce was... bad. I can't explain that one. The teriyaki sticks were decent. We got the dragons den- would not recommend. Everything was fairly flavorless and over cooked. My kids got the sesame chicken and wouldn't eat it. And the hubs said his Tien-Fu Chicken was bad. I would probably choose the Asian Cafe off of Bryan road for the same price. They've got better quality and more flavor. Hoping other people have better experiences here though or that they can turn it around. (I know places can just be off their game sometimes and be having a bad day. The Orange Chicken was sooo orangey, and the pieces were small and flavorful so 10/10. The Fried Rice was dry but the Crab Rangoon's were SO yummy. The Pot Stickers were underwhelming. They seemed like they needed to be steamed just a little longer. The S&S Shrimp... omg 10/10! I absolutely loved it! Could have done without all the mini veggies in it, but delicious nonetheless. This was a "to go" order, so maybe that's why the rice had dried out a little? Would definitely order here again, just may be a little more picky on what I choose next time. Portions are good, the chicken is always tender and plentiful (not breaded so you don't feel heavy in the gut after eating) veggies, cashews and a lighter sauce. This was a real let down. Their great reviews made us choose this spot over our usual and it was a mistake. I got General Tso's chicken which was mediocre at best. Very little sauce and the fried rice I got as a side was inedible. It tasted like it had been fried in old/burn oil. The whole container tasted like burned oil so I had to throw it out after a few bites. We also got the Pad Thai and it reportedly had no flavor. The only saving grace was the yummy crab Rangoon that was more savory than sweet which was a nice change. I won't be going back and unfortunately won't be recommending this spot either. read more

One of my favorite Asian places. Since my previous favorite was bought by a white family who scrapped all the recipes in favor of Americanized versions, this place has been a godsend. Their crab rangoons are delicious--not overtly sweet with great flavor. Very green onion forward. They're also decently sized. I've gotten probably a half dozen different dishes here over the last few years since I've found it and never been disappointed. The shrimp are always cooked perfectly and are never rubbery or tough. The veggies are fresh and nicely steamed as is the rice. I really enjoy the hot braised chicken and the House Special Beef which is super tender and juicy. One note: spice levels are determined by the addition of whole chilis instead of chili flakes. So the dish doesn't start off super hot but will get spicier the longer it sits. So your leftovers may be way hotter than your fresh food. I like it but it kicked my dad's ass when he stole some leftovers. read more

101 is a nice place to go and sit down and eat Chinese food. There is a different aesthetic than most of the local Chinese restaurants. It is dark, with tables and chairs that are a little nicer than what you would expect. They do serve alcohol, so you are able to order a drink if you like. The service was quick and friendly at the various times that we visited. The most recent time we visited, my husband and I enjoyed the family dinner for 2 ($33). We had Hot and Sour soup, which was good. Crab Rangoon, which was fresh and had good flavor. My husband had General Tso's chicken which was what you would expect, and I had Shrimp and Mixed Vegetables. All were good, not great. We will definitely be back. read more

I received a menu from this place at my home. Since our favorite Chinese place was closed, I got on line and painstakingly placed an order for delivery only to find out I am just outside the delivery area. Ok, fine. Went and picked it up. Turned out to be the worst Chinese food I've ever had. That includes the times I've made the poor decision to hit a buffet just before closing. Food was not fresh or hot. Sesame beef- dry, stringy, chewy. The meat was not in the usual bite sized pieces and was difficult to cut. (How often do you need a steak knife with Chinese food?) Shrimp with walnuts- walnuts were rancid and burnt. Wontons- like gumballs wrapped in cold chewy paper. Fried dumplings- cold, slimy and barely browned. 101 Fried rice- the best part of the meal but it still seemed like they scraped it off the bottom of the steam pan. I definitely give this a four out of five stars. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the service was pretty good. I went there looking for Springfield style cashew chicken. The reviews had said that it was pretty tasty. I give that part a five out of 10 the chicken was a little bit dry. The breading was pretty close, but the sauce was a little thick and lacked a bit of flavor. Would I go back for Springfield chicken? if I couldn't make it myself with David Leong's recipe, maybe! The fried rice was great, the hot and sour soup was good, but could use some heat. The eggroll was fantastic, and the hot mustard, for it was nice and sinus clearing. Overall, I think it was a good deal and the other food I saw other people getting looked tasty. I would go back and try something different. This is my 1200th review. Yay me! OK, this is one of those times where Yelp led me to the right place. I was sitting in a pedicure chair in the shopping center across the street from here and did a restaurant search by distance. 101 Asian Cuisine popped up. It caught my eye because it had only 3 new reviews. One of the reviewers (Mary R. with 1 review) made mention that some of the staff here is the same as the people who have been at Hunan Star in Des Peres forever. Hunan Star is my favorite restaurant for Chinese-American food! I needed to investigate so I popped in for lunch after my pedicure. Sure enough, I recognized the faces. The lunch menu is large and the prices are incredibly reasonable at $6.95 for entrée, app, and soup at lunch time. I've had a love affair with Hot N Sour soup since I was about 5 years old. This one is hands down my favorite one. It's the one I compare all others against. This one delivers the pungent spice and the acidity I'm looking for. It is rich and thick but not gloppy from too much cornstarch. Some of the vegetables still have a bit of crunch. It's a winner. The crab Rangoon is handmade and the best version you will have. The skin gets chewy. The Mongolian Beef, my perennial favorite at Hunan Star, was just as it has always been. Its sliced beef stir fried with green and white onions then tossed with a thick brown sauce which has a slight tang and sweetness. The service was friendly and speedy and they wait on you here. There's no Styrofoam and plastic ware if you're eating in! This is Chinese-American food at its finest. I can't believe this is happening in an unassuming strip center in St. Peters. I can't wait to go back here. If you actually live anywhere near here go now. You won't regret it. Please go out and support this local business! read more

This place is a joke!! The almonds in the almond chicken were rancid. My poor husband was barfing before he was even done eating!! Sweet and sour was old and like rubber. I could barely cut the pieces up for my girls and the sweet and sour sauce was lumpy. The shrimp in the special house rice was like chewing on rubber bands. Even the pot stickers stunk like rotten old oil!! When I called to get the food replaced the lady I spoke with did nothing but argue with me and would not let me bring the food back to show her. I would recommend this business. My hubby loves this place and decided to take me. I ordered the Mongolian beef it was ok lots of onion filler that I gave to my hubby he loved them. Lots of food for the lunch special I did take half of it home. I will try it again and order something else to give it a better rating. The place has a nice atmosphere very clean love the decor. Honestly, I found myself quite impressed with the quality of the food from here. The Crab Rangoon from here is shockingly authentic and fresh. It actually has real crab flavor and seasoning instead of the generic cream cheese and fake crab meat you get from everywhere else. The rice and soups were top notch and actually seasoned and not just flavored with salt. The egg and spring rolls were flavorful like they had been prepared fresh when I ordered them and not just sitting under a heat lamp. I CAN NOT express how fucking good this food is. The ONLY complaint is that it is a little pricier than other take out places. The soup, the hot and sour soup, I can not get enough of it. I love the whole wood ear they put in it, I can feel the minerals make my bones stronger with every bite. My favorite is the kung pao chicken, but I got the Ma Po Tofu last time and it was so delicate. I love tofu and it was some of the BEST I have ever had. Every single thing I order is as good as it could possibly be. The dragon balls are the best Ive had anywhere, the outside is so crispy and the inside is so soft. Its sweet but very light so I slammed the whole order down in my car on the way home. The crab rangoon....... I am not a crab rangoon guy but these are like pockets of sweet and savory garlicy crabby cheese. I mean that is exactly what they are.
