The man behind the counter just looks at me with no reaction and zero reply, as if a person didn't just walk in his establishment to pay him money. I asked for the lunch special, again the man said nothing and pointed a completely different menu. Absolutely zero customer service, unfriendly, unprofessional, unpleasant, and the crab rangoon looks like someone ejaculated into it. Food & people that work there suck. I count on independent Chinese restaurants for St. Paul sandwiches. The uniquely St. Louis egg foo yung sandwich is a filling, but not large, midday meal that's also inexpensive. Local Chinese spots often offer the sandwich even when it's not on the menu. That's not the case here: It's not on the menu and it's not made. Do not trust any of the positive reviews. This was single-handedly the worst Chinese food I've ever had. We ordered 2 things of sesame chicken "full size" for dine in at a high charge of $43. You would assume that means the food and service will be good, right? We were served our food in to-go containers and had to walk across the room to grab forks. Why have tables and a dine in option when you're not even going to serve my food on a plate and bring me a fork? This isn't a restaurant; it's fast food. The sesame sauce was the consistency and color of bbq sauce. The chicken looked like meatballs. The lo mein was super salty. The fried rice was a $2.50 up charge for rice that was obviously frozen and reheated. Everywhere else I've ever gone, fried rice has never been an up charge. Did I mention that it was reheated?! Plus, it was served in a to-go container when I ordered dine in! The atmosphere was nice and clean (quartz tabletops). Happy China is our favorite local Chinese food place so far. It has a flavor closer to what we are accustomed to, a clean location, and the staff is great. Yes, the furniture and styling is dated. But they know how to make the food right. The sweet and sour pork and chicken are still crispy when we get home. The various chicken stir-fry meals are full of flavor. The egg drop soup is spot on. It seems like where they could have strayed, they never have. The service is top notch, and we've been quite pleased by how they handle when we make a mistake on ordering. Literally the worst Chinese food I have ever had. I know that this side of the river is restaurant-challenged, with not much to offer beyond Taco Bell, Popeye's, Culvers and Red Robin, but I had hoped that a simple takeout meal from a Chinese restaurant would be a success. Grease was floating in bag of Fried wings. Sopped grease on several paper towels to make them edible. The meat was yellow and looked and tasted old. I ordered the combination moo goo gai pan: no mushrooms, extra celery, and extra sauce. I received chicken, carrots, and white sauce. I called the restaurant advised them of the error. She thought it would be acceptable to bring me a few pieces of celery! I said no, I want it made correctly. She had the nerve to return the messed up order and tell me never to order there again! I only spend $40 about every week there. Talk about poor customer service! God forbid they would loose a few bucks by making it correct. Wow, not good. I've been twice so feel I can make a review now. General Tso Chcken has extremely tough, rawhide-like skin. Literally the roof of my mouth hurts from eating the few pieces I was able to manage. I'd guess it wasent very fresh. Chicken Terriaki very unremarkable, almost mall-like. Chicken Broccoli a little better but not as good as other offerings nearby. Overall it's substantially worse than Panda Express and certainly not as good as other real Chinease resturant in the area. Staff didn't really seem to engage us, just waited for us to initiate. I don't like to bash mom and pop like places but I hope this place tales a good look at their food quality and makes changes. read more

August 10, Big Sis and I ordered delivery for dinner. She got Szechuan Triple Crown ($10.95) -- beef, chicken and shrimp with vegetables in sauce. I got Chicken with Garlic Sauce ($7.75) -- BIG pieces of chicken, green pepper, broccoli, carrot, mushroom, water chestnut, baby corn and pea pods in sauce. Both entrees were marked (on the menu) as spicy and hot. We also split an order of crab Rangoon -- 6 pieces for $4.25. I also ordered steamed dumplings (aka pot stickers) -- 7 pieces for $5.25. Delivery was speedy, and everything we ordered was in the bags and was hot. This was a massive amount of food. It could have fed a mid-sized ZIP code. The crab Rangoon was crispy-crunchy on the outside and totally full and creamy -- with good taste -- on the inside. We ate those first, because they're an appetizer, but they coulda been a meal. Entrees were next. They came with rice. Although they were indicated as spicy and hot, they were not, and neither had a plethora of sauce. But they were both stupendous. My chicken was tender and tasty. The vegetables had good crunch and retained their fresh flavor. Big Sis liked her dish. She's had it before. Dumplings were "dessert". These dumplings were much thicker of dough than any pot stickers I've ever had. That made them quite filling. And the meat-based filling was so plentiful, the crescent shape to which I've become accustomed in a pot sticker was quite distorted. But that doesn't matter. The dough/filling ratio was quite fine, and the taste was spot-on, especially when dipped in the special sauce that accompanied them. These were a meal, too. We each had just one. The crab Rangoon had a flavorless runny filling and the shell was very hard. Steamed dumplings were very gummy General Tso's Chicken Chicken pieces were all similar size balls. It appeared to be double breaded or something because there was more dough than chicken. I've been eating here off and on for the last four or five years. My four star rating is compared to other Chinese restaurants in the same general price range. The food is consistently good. Maybe not the best, but I've never had a bad experience here. I've eaten inside a handful of times, but usually order it there and take it to go. The people are friendly and the service is quick. We get our Chinese here because it's close to our home. Good crab rangoon and the general tso's chicken can easily feed two.

The only thing I would order from here is the fried rice. All the meats are pretty gross.

If you tend to get tofu dishes ... do not get it here. For one, I'm pretty sure they use silken tofu instead of firm tofu and two, they don't even do anything to it, it's not cooked/fried, so it's honestly really disgusting and mushy, breaks apart when you try to eat it. I also got veggie rolls and they were soft and mushy, like they weren't fried long enough at all. I'm scared how my stomach is going to feel in an hour or so. Only reason I'm giving two stars is because my boyfriend didn't hate his chicken, but he said it was below average. But I wouldn't ever order here again. Pretty solid food here. Ordered the General Tso's chicken, Singapore style mei fun, and steamed dumplings. This fed me, my wife and two children. I even had leftovers for myself the next day. Not bad for $26! The dumplings were my favorite on this order. They are good size with a thicker wrap than I'm used to, which was nice. Recently moved to other side of Ofallon and wanted to try a Chinese Restaurant close by. In the past I would go to Green China and might have to travel few extra miles now to go back. Today, was my fist order and I had the Orange Chicken. Upon opening my tray I had a long hair but might of been from their corn it was hard tell. Nevertheless, I was pretty hungry and discarded this part. The chicken was very dried out, even with the orange sauce and so was the rice. It all tasted very bland! The egg roll was the same. Always great food, but the service tonight, in particular, was insulting, unprofessional, and outright rude. We live a mile from the restaurant & immediately after telling our address for delivery, we were accused of lying & got hung up on. After calling back, thinking there was a confusion, the employee we spoke with refused to even look up the address. After about 10-15 minutes of trying to convince the employee our address was not fake, he FINALLY put in the courtesy & respect to look up our address to find out he was wrong.
