One star tonight is generous. Usually, it's at least good. Tonight they made a mistake with our takeout order, remade it using the same chicken, which was overcooked dry without sauce and without mushrooms. Stuff happens - we get it. Probably the best Chinese food that I've had in Florida. My favorite from the menu is definitely the spring rolls and the fried chicken wings. Super flavorful and crispy! The fried rice is also out of this world. It's not that yellow hue you typically get. It's that dark brown hue that looks like it was fried with soy sauce. It reminds me of the Chinese back at home in NEW YORK CITY. If you know, then you know the vibes. The staff is always super duper friendly. It's these young high school or college girlies but they are always so welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable in what this spot offers. This place decent Chinese food, however some things were meh such as their egg rolls taste a little odd... the crab ragoons are great though. I ordered the the orange chicken and chow mein. Big mistake with the chow mein thinking it was the thin noodles. If you order chow mein here, it is not noodles. It's basically some chicken and cabbage stew, which was good, but not what I was anticipating. Called to verify and it was the chow mein. I wish they would have made sure that I was aware of this but from now on I will ask places if I ever decide to order chow mein if it's noddles or the dish we received. I had not purchased from China Wok for several years and thought it would be nice to find a source for New York style Chinese food nearby without travelling to Leung's Bistro in New Tampa. Ordered the shredded beef with string beans and house special Lo Mein, both large sizes. What a letdown! String beans were soggy and listless, no snap or indication of freshness and the beef was sparce and swimming in tasteless liquid. I question the size of the order packed in a small, shallow white plastic container. Doubt being the usual quart size. Lo Mein consisted of a few unremarkable little shrimp and no decent pieces of beef or chicken. Pork? who knows. Cost $27 for one lousy experience. read more

It's true, the fried rice is more like yellow rice and not a good one either. The shrimp and broccoli is four or five shrimp and broccoli. At least I like the broccoli and the shrimp as few as it is is ok. The crab rangoon is ok. The best crab rangoon in the area is actually at the Krate at the Grove at Tasty Ramen. The sweet and sour chicken is a joke. Just plain chicken. What happened to the days of sweet and sour chicken with pineapple, tomatoes, & peppers. I'll keep dreaming and make it myself then. Service on the phone is straight forward and quick. Inside the restaurant, you just give your phone number and they give you your food and are nice, & ask you what you want to drink and greet you. Ambiance is a whole different story. I don't expect much from Chinese take out places. The pictures on the wall are pointless and look like they are extremely faded and dusty and from 1960. This place is empty inside because it's not welcoming and most people do take out. There is a handful of tables. This place definitely looks like a flash back from back in the day before my day. I've eaten at the China Wok on Village Market Drive a bunch of times over the last six months and have found the food to be a good value, freshly cooked, flavorful and hot when served. This is a typical takeout Chinese restaurant and is no worse, but maybe somewhat better than others that I have tried over the years. The spring rolls and egg rolls are commercial and not made on site. The chicken wings are crispy, plump, large, and whole. The lunch special for under 10 bucks is a good value. They're usually pretty busy so I know the food moves out at a good pace. read more

Been a long time WC resident, this will be the last time visiting this place. It has become a total joke. Service time is HORRIBLE wait times are ridiculous, 50 min in store wait for a phone order ! Counter help hasn't got a clue which way to turn and this isn't the first time, so this isn't just a bad night. While the food is ok it isn't worth the hassle to get it. Not sure why this place has t been able to make any improvements in service in the year or so. When you place an order over the phone, they almost always say 20 minutes. No matter how long I wait, when I get there it's at least another 10-15 minute wait. I've been there a bunch of times and I've never walked in, grabbed my stuff and left. So, there you have it. If you're looking for good Chinese food, it's a good bet. The lunch specials were very well priced at $7.45 (30 options) and generous, even including a can of soda. We had an order of broccoli with garlic and one of sesame chicken.
