    Part of the cluttered interior
    Fred B.

I decided to give this place a try after reading several recent reviews that were positive. Many of the older reviews were anything but that. This is a small place with very limited inside seating, and the ambiance can best de described as cluttered and disheveled! I placed a take out order of Fried Chicken Wings (4) with Pork Fried Rice ($11.55) and Shrimp Chow Mein with an Egg Roll (value priced at $8.55). The order took about 15 minutes to come out. This turned out to be some better than average Chinese American take out fare! The egg roll was solid if not spectacular. The Fried Chicken Wings (there were 6 pieces, not 4) were large, nicely cooked, and very tasty. The Pork Fried Rice was also tasty once a good dose of soy sauce was applied, and there was a nice amount of pork and a few scattered veggies, including a nice bit of onion. The Shrimp Chow Mein was good, but not great. The shrimp were small, plentiful, and flavorful. The vegetables were nice and crunchy, but were not as flavorful as other such dishes I've tried in the area. Bottom line: I would definitely order the Chicken Wings again, but probably not the Chow Mein. I would try other items on the menu as well. I would either order on line or phoned it in. Chicken and broccoli combo

Pleasantly surprised !! We both enjoyed our meal, we shared chicken and broccoli and wonton soup. The service was so friendly! To be honest the inside it was a little off putting, no customers and kind of messy, but after the great service and food my mind was changed. I would say this is equally as tasty as our regular spot with typical flavors, but I love that it's close by, and I REALLY love that I can order online. Our other go-tos don't have online.

Lunch special: Sesame chicken with pork fried rice and wanton soup... $5.50
    Sarah G.

I have been craving Chinese food for um... about 2+ months now and have finally given in! I went with the lunch special of Sesame Chicken, pork fried rice and wanton soup. It came to $5.50. Portion size was decent. The wonton soup was good! The chicken was really good. Not the typical sauce you get on this dish... It was pretty spicy but I liked it! The pork fried rice was not-so-good... It was really bland. Like another reviewer stated, there are no vegetables in it and I actually had to add SALT to it. (Adding salt to Chinese food?!? That's a first for me!) I didn't call ahead and the wait was probably only 5-7minutes. The place isn't much to look at. There's only 3 small booths and the other side had a bunch of kid-stuff: books, coloring pages, a keyboard... All kind of stacked and messy. Looks like a child spends a looooooong time in the restaurant. I'd definitely recommend this place for some cheap but tasty Chinese food!

    S9. General Tso's Chicken

Me and my girlfriend got food around 9:30PM and everything was great. She got chicken lo mein and it was a little dry but nothing a little soy sauce won't help. I got General tso's with fried rice and it was amazing. Everything was hot and fresh. After reading the reviews I questioned the restaurant but we decided to try it and we are glad we did!

    My sweet and sour chicken??

We recently ordered delivery of sweet and sour pork and a second order of sweet and sour chicken. Unfortunately, one order was perfect (the pork) however I have no clue what the chicken actually was?????

All the items chosen were good, with the Fried Shrimp and the Mongolian Beef proving to be very, very good! Mongolian Beef is a favorite Chinese American dish. Despite the name, it was developed in Taiwan before coming to the USA, an been very popular, especially as a take out item. The version served here is among the best, nearly as good as the best in the area, that served at Jade Garden in Advance. The dish here adheres to the straight forward simplicity of processing quality beef, onions, and peppers well seasoned with a soy based sauce. The fried shrimp are small, fresh tasting, and well breaded and well seasoned. This isn't an item often thought of when considering Chinese American appetizer, but I would suggest you consider it , especially when a bit of hot mustard or Chinese hot sauce is added. I have tried at least a dozen items here, and there have only been a couple I would not reorder. The sipped with which your order is prepared is a definite plus, usually you are out in under 15 minutes.

I usually get the combo plates that include an entree, egg roll and rice. Today, I have been battling a cold and cough and some wonton soup sounded perfect to sooth my throat. The rest of my family ordered some different dishes for themselves. We ordered online and I sent my son to pick everything up which only took 20 min. The wonton soup had so many wontons in it I split it into three servings. They also give you the fried wonton strips to sprinkle on top if you like that. The portions on all the other food were also big. Mr. Lus doesn't skimp there. We all had plenty for lunch the next day. The service is always fast, reliable and friendly. There is no dining room. It's all take out at Mr Lus so be prepared for that. Otherwise it's your basic order at the counter place.

I ordered 2 lunch specials at $8.55 - Scallion Chicken and Beef in Garlic Sauce. Each came with Egg Fried Rice, Egg Drop Soup, and 2 small Spring Rolls. The Scallion Chicken was not a bad dish, but neither did it reach the level of a good dish. Why is it so hard for Chinese American restaurants to cook Scallion Chicken in a manner that does not result in gobs of gooey? And who decided that that particular cut of carrot was the right one for stir fries it is almost always overcooked! The Beef in Garlic Sauce was simply a flavorless mess, loaded with extraneous vegetables, including the particularly awful baby corn. I have had this dish at Jade Garden and China House, and both were very tasty! The baby corn is,in fact, regular corn that is picked while the corn is still immature, and has not yet developed the sweet corn taste most folks love - in fact, it has no flavor. It is loaded into stir fry dishes in Chinese American restaurants to make the dish seem larger. While it is used in China, it is not a staple. Most such corn is used in Thai, Indo-Chinese, or Chinese American dishes, mainly stir-fries. Most of the world supply comes from Thailand, and it is either canned or frozen, rarely if ever is it fresh. The Egg Drop Soup was very under seasoned, and the Spring Rolls needed a good amount of hot mustard. I may try some other items here, but certainly not these two!

We ordered a standard vodka soda from the drink menu. They have drink specials every day as well. Then we tried the sweet heat roll which was so pretty ! Delicious with all the sushi elements. Yum. Then we tried the poke bowl with ahi tuna. Wow so big! Rice, seaweed salad and lots of Veggies and a yummy soy wasabi vinaigrette. The tuna sashimi was so fresh. Then the red curry with chicken. We asked for extra Thai spicy and it was just the perfect heat. Served with white rice this was a huge portion honestly could have served 3 people. We still had a lot left over . They were also great about giving us another bowl of rice which is also a nice touch . The sauce here for this red curry is amazing. I will be back to buy it as we asked if they sell it and our server said yes . It is one of the best I've ever had. We were somewhat totally full !! Haha! They are very friendly and accommodating. I normally go in to pick up my order that I called in and that's what I did the other evening when I realized that I hadn't reviewed this wonderful place. It is a very small place. There are no sitdown tables. It's mostly all kitchen and a front counter to either take your order or pay for same. There is a bottled beverage machine in the lobby area to pick up something to drink. The China House is nestled into a small shopping center off of Jonestown Road. If you live in the area it is very convenient and they're open on Mondays. There's one other place called China wok close by as well but it is not open on Monday so China House is my go to when that happens and I'm craving my Asian food. Both places serve yummy food. This evening it was close to their closing time at 10pm and I placed an order around 20 minutes before closing and they reminded me they were closing at 10pm and so I hopped in the car after ordering and got there 10 minutes before closing and the person at the counter told me they would've stayed open even if I hadn't gotten there quite in time to accommodate me which I really appreciated! They are happy to help their customers. The man at the counter was so nice with a great big smile on his face and it brightened up my evening! They had my order ready when I got there and asked me if I wanted sauces with it, threw a bunch of sauces in my bag and I was on my way! Quick and easy! I highly recommend this place as our food is always good but it's not a dine in place it's takeout only. You can pick up a takeout menu if you're stopping by or going in to pick up your next meal.

The dishes I tried after that were Shrimp Lo Mein, Pepper Steak with Onions (twice), Mongolian Beef, Chicken Wings with Pork Fried Rice, and Shrimp in Curry Sauce. All of these are dishes I had before, at least once, most more often. Only the Shrimp with Lo Mein was above average, none of the other dishes rose to the level of quality I'd received here before, in fact all were very ordinary. And the Fried Rice which was loaded with cubes of pork, had little to none. I hate this has happened because I do very much enjoy certain Chinese American dishes. There are several others around - Mr Lu's, Great China, and East China - but none are as close, nor were they quite at quality level I previously saw here.
