This is not my favorite location because of parking considerations, but they do make a good sub, with their sub roll being the star. On this trip I tried a new to me sandwich - Beach Club. This sandwich consists of sliced turkey, provolone, avocado spread, thin sliced cucumber, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. I added oil & vinegar and oregano-basil. This is a solid sub, elevated by the avocado spread and sliced cucumber, and further aided oby the addition of the oil and vinegar, as well as the oregano-basil mixture. My favorite sub here remains the Spicy East Coast Italian, but this is a nice change of pace. read more

My review is not so much about this Jimmy Johns location, but about the item I ordered for lunch, an Unwitch. I ordered online before this location opened, and my order was ready when the doors opened at 10:30. An Unwitch is like a wrap, but with lettuce leaves. The picture on the website is shown below for comparison to what I received. The lettuce used was iceberg, and the leaves did not fully contain the ingredients. The result is a difficult to eat mess. If you are looking for a reduced carb meal, I recommend ordering a regular sandwich, removing one side, and you'll have an open faced sandwich with half the bread. read more

Good location right in the heart of downtown. From the street, it looks like a very small place with limited seating, but they do have seating upstairs. Sandwiches are good. Better than Subway but not as good as Jersey Mikes (just my opinion of course). Like their slogan states, they are fast. It doesn't take long from placing the order to you getting your sandwich. Note, if you show up during the prime lunch hour, there can be a long line wrapping around the front of the store. Good news is it moves fast. Note, they do deliver in the downtown area. They only believed him and finally gave him two slices of cheese when the person who was at the register backed us up on that. They barely put any meat in my turkey tom sandwich or in my husbands bootlegger sandwich. In one half i literally just counted one piece of deli meat. So i basically had a mayo, tomato, and lettuce sandwich. At the end, we left with hungry stomaches and getting side eye from the rude workers. We got McDonald's right after. Don't go here. I ordered a roast beef with double meat, and I don't think I've ever been given LESS MEAT on a sandwich! It was literally as if there was a single layer of paper-thin roast beef above and below a pile of browning shredded lettuce. Jimmy John's has a reputation of being quick and efficient, and that has been pretty consistent with my experience thus far. There have been times where I've finished paying and I head over to get a drink, and before I finish getting something, my order is ready! I almost exclusively get a Turkey Tom and I honestly can't think of any time where my expectations were not met. The staff have always been friendly and helpful and will even take time to chat with you about random things if there aren't too many people they need to help. I think when it comes to good quality food at a cooperate restaurant, timing and location plays a role. While attending conference in downtown Winston Salem, NC I went to this store on a weekend when most business where closes. Went in there with a large group, totally unexpected by the staff but still they were able to serve good food, I had a tuna sub all the way and it was GREAT! The tuna had nice chunky peaces of veggies in it just how I like it. Restaurant was clean, staff was friendly and the view of downtown was great. I guess we caught them at the right time. Wow! Stale bread, tomato when specifically told NO TOMATO, and lettuce made from the finest orphan tears available! I had no idea sandwich artistry was such a complex art. But Jimmy John's went above and beyond the call of screwing up a basic sandwich! Even went so far to ensure the bacon was ICE COLD! Man. When is Jimmy Johns's not freaky fast? When they're out of bread and have to finish their phone call before letting you know.

So I was extremely impressed by the delivery of my Jimmy John's sandwich last week from their Hanes Mall location so I was eager to try the same sandwich at the actual restaurant. It was overall a decent experience but I did make some mistakes. First of all, they don't ask you what bread you prefer, so make sure to request whole wheat if you want it (which I forgot to this time). The white bread is like a baguette shape whereas the whole wheat is standard-bread shape. I didn't find it nearly as flavorful, and I felt like it wasn't stuffed as deeply. In addition, this downtown location doesn't seem to have a private lot (I could be wrong on this one) so it's not as convenient to swing by as the Hanes Mall location. I will say it was clean, the sandwiches were made strangely quickly, and the bread mistake was my fault, but there's nothing that makes Jimmy John's stand out. I paid ~$6.30 including tax and felt like I should've gone to Subway instead. For $5, I could have had a footlong Tuna Sub or Chicken Teriyaki, both of which are more filling and have fancier bread options. With Subways being ubiquitous nowadays, and Subway's better prices, I have to say that Jimmy John's is below average and thus I give it 2-stars for a dine-in experience. Note: I still hold that it's probably worth it for their quick delivery option as Subway has not started delivering yet. read more

When you have an employee that cuts his thumb off in the place of work, what is the first thing you do? You call an Uber. Not an ambulance, but an Uber to take him to not the hospital, but to an Urgent Care clinic. What is wrong with you people???? Did you close the shop car cleaning like most would, or did you put it to the side and continue to make such sandwiches with his blood debris and God knows what else? Had a large group order delivered to us at the Benton Conference Center. They were pretty quick at 20 mins for 10 sandwiches and the only error was one Dr Pepper came as a coke. But that's pretty good for such a quick service. Of course the sandwiches were great and for sure will order again in the future when looking for a quick order. read more

Not sure if it was racism or just plain laziness, but they turned down our order for 2-dozen subs. The final excuse the counter man gave us was that they would run out of bread for the day if they made our order. It was 1pm on Saturday during a busy weekend downtown. Wife: If I could give a zero I could. I'm 6 months pregnant and needed to use the restroom before buying my food. The two men working the counter wouldn't even make eye contact with me when I asked for the code to the bathroom. They said I needed to buy something first I responded my husband is about to come inside and buy two subs. I obviously needed to use the restroom in an emergency. The food definitely gets 5 stars. I got the vegetarian sub and it was beyond satisfying. The service however is only deserving of 2 stars. The cashier was a middle-aged man whose name I don't recall, but he had long hair. He acted like I was bothering him the entire time I was placing my order. He answered all of my questions with 1 or 2 words. When giving me my change he simply put it on the counter then walked away. I'm not sure if he had a bad day, or I came in too close to closing time or what, but I was definitely put off by his attitude. The lady who made the sandwiches was the opposite, polite and pleasant. Any place but a gourmet sandwich place. The rolls were very ordinary, the meat was the stuff you would buy at any grocery store (the already sliced and packaged kind). . Minimal items placed in the sandwich (in fact I cut mine in half and put all the stuff in one-half of the roll. Most curious of all is that they had NO condiments to put on it after you got it--NOT EVEN SALT AND PEPPPER--I asked them for some and they said they didn't have any to give out. I ordered a sandwich from them and my confirmation number was sent to me at 5:04. I called back between 6:00 and 5:55 because nothing had been brought to me yet and they said it was still in route, so for it being close to an hour wait and their policy being "freaky fast" I asked if I would still have to pay full price. The manager then proceeded to tell me that it would be unfair to "make him pay for my sandwich since they were low on staff". Now, I understand that places aren't always fully staffed and running as they advertise they are, but to make it somehow my fault and continuing to require me to pay full price for a sandwich that I have ordered from the same place and received within 20 minutes in the past seems a bit far-fetched. We made a special trip downtown to come here for our fist visit ever to this restaurant. Both of our sandwiches were served on the wrong bread--the baguette instead of the round bread, which was specified on the menu according to the number you ordered. We didn't say anything about it, but the baguettes are long, and unlike Subway, they didn't even cut them in half! The sandwiches were decent, but overpriced. Also, the sandwich was bland, so we were looking for Salt and Pepper, but they had NONE. NO SALT or PEPPER on the tables, or behind the counter??? What the? What restaurant anywhere does not have salt and pepper. My opinion is this: It is your job as a restaurant to give me what I ordered (they did not--wrong bread), and make the order a good one but doing a few little and cheap things--cut the sandwich in half, and provide condiments. They did not. My partner and I will never go there again. The restaurant was clean, But if I had gone to Subway, I would have gotten a much better value for my money, had the sandwich exactly the way I wanted it, with SALT and PEPPER inlcuded.
