Fried rice is a little dry. I recommend upgrading to pork or shrimp fried. They have good size shrimp in the shrimp and broccoli. Also tried the sweet and sour chicken and that went over really well with my 5 yr old son who is somewhat of a picky eater.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in town. I would have to say it's hard to decide which is better the homemade food or the family atmosphere. I love just saying what I'd like and the owner suggesting many choices. Kuddos Chinatown! Keep up the good work. You'll have many loyal customers for years and years to come.

Right from the start, our server, Chuck, made us feel welcome. We mentioned a food allergy, and while he wanted to make sure he understood everything correctly, he quickly brought over his manager, Maria, to assist. Maria was incredibly thorough and went above and beyond, even showing me ingredient information to ensure everything was safe. That level of care and attention was greatly appreciated. For dinner, we ordered the Maryland crab soup, which was hearty, thick, and packed with flavor--not watered down at all. We also shared a side salad that was surprisingly huge and fresh. The crab cakes were outstanding, loaded with lump crab meat and served with delicious sides. We also tried the rockfish special, which was almost like a crab cake made with fish--unique, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert, but the desserts we saw being served to other tables looked amazing and definitely worth trying on a future visit. Both Chuck and Maria were attentive throughout our meal, and Chuck's friendly, kind personality made the experience even better. Excellent food, outstanding service, and great attention to customer needs. We will absolutely be back the next time we're in Baltimore!

I think it's worth mentioning that I've never had pit beef before so I am by no means an expert as to what's good or not. I will also say however, that what I ordered, the open face pit beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy was ok. The entire plate was swimming in gravy so that took away from what could've been a better meal. I did ask for gravy on the whole sandwich and the mashed potatoes (because the picture on their website looked like gravy only came on the mashed potatoes and I do like a little extra) but I wasn't expecting a to-go box literally full of gravy, so that's probably my fault. The texture of the beef mixed with all the gravy and mashed potatoes was a bit unpleasant and soupy and I periodically had to pick burnt bits and foil out my mouth so that also took away from the experience. They seem to have a pretty vast menu and I had no idea what I was going to get when I walked in. The young lady that took my order was very friendly and helped me come to my decision so the customer service was good and I appreciated her patience with me. As far as ambiance goes, while I was waiting for my order, there was an older man waiting for his order that was yelling at the tv about how Joe Biden hasn't done anything for this country and that Trump only told the truth. I try not to get caught up in politics with strangers because it really can be off putting but what can you do. I wouldn't do the gravy with a side of open face pit beef sandwich again but there's so many other options I'd like to try in the future should I find myself in the area again. A man that was also waiting for his order said he really like the ribs.

I was wondering how it compared to Charm City Buffet, which I have been to several times. I assumed that it would be about the same, if not a tad bit worse, because it's smaller than Charm City Buffet. I am pleased to say that I WAS WRONG. Jeremy, Justin and I all thought that Best Buffet was better. The people cooking the food actually want it to taste good, instead of throwing whatever up on the buffet line thinking quality doesn't matter. I managed to eat two plates of food, which doesn't seem like a lot, but I had some big honkin' portions of meat. Everything was incredible, and I wish I could have unzipped my stomach and continued to eat. The roast pork was so tender and delicious. The spare rib meat came right off the bone and was sticky with that great hoisin-flavored Chinese sauce. The crawfish were spicy. All the Chinese dishes tasted like something you would get at a quality take-away. The sweet and sour chicken nuggets were crispy, and you get to sauce them yourself, so they stay that way. Jeremy couldn't get enough of the pepper steak and onions. Justin was the only one to take advantage of the hibachi - which he liked, but said it could use more vegetables to choose from. He would have liked some broccoli and mushrooms. I'm not sure if those things were available over at the salad bar, but if they were I feel like the manager of the buffet should consider moving the salad ingredients closer to the hibachi, so customers realize they have more choice. The shrimp were okay. I think I may be eating them wrong. I don't understand the seasoned coating on the outer shell. I peel off the shell, and thus all the coating, so why is it there? I ate half a dozen of them, though, so don't think I'm going to let my confusion stop me from eating shrimp whenever possible. Sharon, our other friend, wanted to pay for Jeremy and I, but didn't factor in the fact that prices are higher on the weekends and during dinner (she picked the time and day), so I ended up paying for myself because the price for two was already more than she expected to pay. Personally, I thought for the selection of foods, and considering it was dinner, the price of approximately $22 per person wasn't bad. I think this is the reason why she said that she preferred Charm City Buffet (when we paid), though she claimed that she thought the food tasted better at CCB. Her favorite item at Best Buffet was the coconut shrimp (which I regret not trying, but I couldn't fit anything else in my belly). I do wish that there was something seriously chocolatey, like a brownie, on the dessert bar. I tried to soothe my sweet tooth with a slice of cake with chocolate mousse on top, but it just didn't cut it. This is my top buffet choice (for now. There's a new one being remodeled on North Point, behind the mall, that I'm eagerly awaiting). I feel like I could go there every week, try new things each time, and be just as pleased as I was on Sunday.

This last time, I tried their birria for the first time, which is my go to the last couple of years when eating Mexican, and was genuinely shocked by how bad it was. The meat, while tender, was flavorless, as was the broth and the cheese used for the quesabirria was American. I took two more tentative bites after the first one because I thought, there is no way they're using American cheese. No, they definitely are. I ended up calling because I was disappointed that I didn't have anything to eat for lunch (it was that bad, which is remarkable when you're talking about tacos), and the staff confirmed, with no irony, that they use white American and further, that they use it on all their dishes. Crazy. I'd also ordered lunch for the staff of a local business who had been really kind to me recently, so I can only hope their food wasn't anything like mine. I probably won't try them again, but hoping their sister restaurant, La Tolteca hasn't similarly declined.
