We've been trying some other local places recently, but made our triumphant return last night, on our way to do some laundry. I got the chicken chimichanga - fried. It comes covered in cheese sauce, with a glorious side of refried beans and some rice. Do yourself the favor and get a container of their freshly made pico de gallo, too. My boyfriend got the Gordo Burrito (Large burrito stuffed with grilled chicken, chorizo, refried beans, Spanish rice and pico de gallo. Covered with queso dip). And some nachos (Nacho chips topped with your choice of meat, queso dip, lettuce, sour cream, and pico de gallo. + .99 for Guacamole) to share - but we were too full up to eat them, so we brought them home. I stopped here for lunch after work this week. I ordered inside the restaurant when I got there, and was pleasantly surprised that the wait didn't take as long as I thought it would. They have seating, so you do have the option to eat inside. I noticed they have a board on the wall with specials that I don't think are included on their online menu. I would go inside to order if you can just to check those out. I'm not sure how frequently it might change. We got a small complimentary bag of tortilla chips and three sauces - a mild red salsa, salsa verde, and what seemed to be a spicy sour cream. I never figured out exactly what that last one was. I ordered the al pastor tacos and a steak quesadilla. If a restaurant has al pastor tacos, I'm basically guaranteed to get them, and I have come to realize each place does them a little differently. I was a little unimpressed with these only because the meat was so dry. The pineapple wasn't very juicy either, so that didn't help much. Between adding some of the salsas for some moisture and the amount of onion/cilantro, I really felt like I just lost the flavor of the taco itself. The steak quesadilla wasn't overwhelmingly good or bad. The only comment I have is that it could've used more steak! Based on this experience alone I'd give three stars, but I've had their food a few times before and consistently enjoyed it, so I'm giving them four. If I could give this place zero stars or even a -10 star review I would because I doNt know what the heck type of taco this is.. I can't even believe they felt comfortable handing me this. Came here for lunch. They have a lot of options on their menu. Ended up trying al pastor tacos, fried shrimp tacos and carnitas original burro burrito. Everything was tasty, came with red, white sauces. The al pastor was a good portion and tasty meats. Wasn't huge on pineapple which came on this and shrimp. Shrimp had really tasty sauce on it as well. Favorite was the burrito. It had toppings on the burrito and green sauce all around it which was surprising spicy. I can't believe I've been in the area 4 years and never tried this place!! It was so delicious! I ate it so fast I forgot to take pics but trust me when I say you won't be disappointed. I got street tacos which were absolutely divine and the best chimichanga I've had since moving to this area. The service is great and they even have seating for you to dine in. I have tried just about every item on their menu and they are all very good. There is an item not on the menu, Choripollo. This is a rice, chorizo, chicken dish. Outrageously delicious. Their street tacos are authentic and tasty. They just added Taco Birria to the menu. I have ordered them twice and think these might be my favorite taco. Don't let the outside of the restaurant fool you. We almost turned around because it looked like a real hole in the wall. The inside is completely renovated and the food is really yummy without a high price. I tried this place 3 times before I left a review. The grilled chicken bowl is around $13-14 and it is mostly rice. It's probably half a piece of chicken chopped up in small pieces. It tastes good, just overpriced for basically a bowl of rice. My husband ordered a burrito and I was clear to tell them 3 times no guacamole and lettuce. It came with guacamole and lettuce. I politely went to the counter and pointed out it had things I didn't want. The person argued with me and said I was confused - that I didn't say that. This were not willing to simply remake it and he couldn't eat it. So we didn't get a refund or remake of the burrito. This alone means we will not return to this location. Lastly, while we were eating, the TV in the establishment was playing an Eminem song, so while we ate, and we have our 3 year old son with us, we listened to Eminem talking about about genitalia, saying the F-word, and jerking off in a nursing home. Tacos Tolteca is our go to Mexican spot in the area. The food is pretty good, albeit sometimes they have not great days but for the most part the food is solid. We always get cashback too every time from the Upside app so that's an added bonus. When we order, we pretty much order a smorgasbord of food -- a burrito, quesadilla and some tacos. Sometimes even the cali fries because well i just love them. They have specials that are just on the board like birria and the tricolor burrito. I love La Tolteca restaurants, in general, so when I hanging out with friends in Dundalk and saw that there was a "Tacos Tolteca" there, my interest was piqued. I investigated and found out that it was part of the La Tolteca family. Instantly, I knew we had to go try it out! This place has all of the Mexican-American basics. What you are served is similar to what you'd get in the sit-down Tolteca restaurant. They have tacos, taquitos, fajitas, quesadillars, chimichangas, burritos, etc. They seem to consistently have a special burrito called something or other Dragon - it's on their chalk board. I got chicken taquitos (I uploaded a photo of them) and they were exactly what I wanted and expected. My friends got a burrito bowl and a burrito, both of them enjoyed their food as well. Oh, they have Mexican Coke in bottles here, so that's cool, too. The staff were super friendly - the guy who worked the register brought us our food, and we had a race to get the bottle opener out of our respective pocket first, which was in good fun and rather amusing.
