    Seafood paella

Not sure what Jimmy is famous for... perhaps being mid? We knew we had to try their famous crab cakes. Now, I always break out in a small sweat when I see "market price," but absolutely nothing could have convinced me that these crab cakes were worth $75. I would appreciate the fact that the cakes are 95% crab more if there was more nuance in the texture and flavor; it was flat to me, and I expect more from that price. Now, the mac and cheese we ordered on the side was the best mac and cheese I've ever eaten in my entire life. But, this is jimmy's famous seafood, not Jimmy's famous mac and cheese. We also ordered the seafood paella, which came absolutely loaded with clams, shrimp, mussels, and scallops. This was tasty, but nothing that blew my socks off. The charred broccolini we ordered on the side was pretty tough. To finish, we got their homemade creme brûlée, which disappointed me a lot. The top was crispy but the custard itself was chunky rather than the smooth, soft texture I was expecting. If this was based on service alone, I would give a solid 5 stars. Our waiter, and it seemed like every waiter, was very attentive and friendly and on top of things. It seemed like they had their staff well trained and coordinated. Overall, we had high hopes for this place, but it really fell short for us. We rarely splurge on a nice dinner, but figured Jimmy's would be worth it. Unfortunately, I just don't think it was :(

Every trip back home to Baltimore includes one mission, finding a great crab cake. My family knows I'm always looking to try a new seafood spot, so this visit we met at Jimmy's Famous Seafood for a Friday brunch straight from the airport. Reservations are highly recommended, and I appreciated being able to book online. Just be aware they require a credit card and charge a $10 per person fee for no shows. Parking was free and easy, and after figuring out which entrance was for the dining room, we were greeted by a friendly hostess and chose to sit on the patio. The outdoor misting system was a nice touch on a warm summer day, and even at noon the restaurant was filling up fast. I started with a red sangria that was refreshing, although I never found the fruit I was told it included. My family enjoyed the crab dip, crabby chicken quesadilla, and crab balls, while I ordered the Stuffed Lobster Tail. Since I was told Jimmy's lobster and crab cakes are amazing , this was the perfect choice. It was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. My only disappointment was the charred broccolini, which was a little too firm for my taste. I had a great experience and can definitely see why Jimmy's is so popular. The service and food was excellent. I only wish I had time to come back for dinner before heading home. I also love that they ship their famous crab cakes nationwide. I may have to order some for my husband back in Georgia.

What a treat! After living in California, getting to enjoy fresh Maryland seafood again at Jimmie's Seafood was absolutely worth it. We ordered a little bit of everything, and every dish was delicious. We sat outside on the covered patio, which was comfortable and perfect for enjoying the beautiful weather. Bonus points for being dog-friendly--as long as your pup is on a leash, they're welcome to join you! Our server was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. Parking was easy with two lots available, which is always a plus. Great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Baltimore!

Was in town for a business meeting and We happened to be right down the road from here. So glad we came By. Peter G was our server and he crushed it. I ordered the 1 lb crab cake along with the crab bisque and it was amazing Parking was easy. The menu is robust and I can't wait to come back.... Delicious food here!

Decent crab legs, interesting vibe to the place. It temporarily curbed my need for crabs but I most likely would try somewhere else next time.

Cocktails one was a gin spritzer with Bombay gin, Prosecco, and mint the other was tequila based with hot honey & sour mix

Amazing Crab Cakes, barely any filler with their remoulade with a side of charred broccolini. These are 2 8oz crab cakes I thought it was 8oz total. They are huge, very rich and filling. Too much food! We had the crab cakes egg-rolls with their famous slaw. Delicious! We enjoyed the cocktails. Service was great and server was knowledgeable!

We are in town for a convention. Our waiter was very attentive. We ordered several items from the menu. I ordered the jumbo male crabs. The atmosphere is nice but be ready to crack open those crabs. They were good. I also ordered a crab cake on the side. It was definitely award winning. The drinks were nice. They have so many noteworthy items on the menu. I really need to go back to sample a few more items.

We had a great experience at Jimmys. Walked in on a Sunday afternoon. Server was polite and cordial. Orange & Grapefruit Crush. Seafood nachos were ! Maryland Crab Soup was a little too peppery Red Snapper and Crabcake were our entrees. Overall, Jimmy's reputation is well deserved!

Went to Jimmy's during the lunch hours for the first time, service was quick and the food was very good! I ordered the crabby chicken sandwich buffalo style. For lunch time, it was still pretty busy but our party of 7 was well taken care of.

My 1st time in Baltimore I had to try the seafood. A friend, who joined us, recommended Jimmy's. He had been here several times and liked it. He has not stirred me wrong yet. We were a party of 5 showing up with a reservation. I could see one was not really needed. The decor, ambiance and vibe was hitting us in a very good way. The service was excellent. Everything brought out in a timely manner. We were checked on enough but not overtly excessive. I started with an old fashion. Decent, good enough to satisfy my craving and wet my whistle. We were looking for something exceptional and I believe we found it. All were in agreement to share the Seafood Tower. Crab Cake Egg Rolls, Mini Lobster Tails, Jumbo Calamari, Tequila Lime Shrimp, Jackpot (Clams Casino and Oysters Rockefeller), Grilled Octopus, Mussels Nirvana, and Famous Crab Dip. It was all so so delicious. Though the portions may look small it was more than enough to satisfy our fill. And well worth the price. I was also told you could order this nation wide. Give them a buzz to place your order. Growing up in the East Coast the thing I missed the most was blue crab. I ordered some excited to have satiated by craving. I was surprised how small they were and very salty. This would not do. In fact, I couldn't eat it. I ended up taking it back and making fried rice out of it. Being that small there wasn't much to pull off of it. Live and learn. My wife wanted mac and cheese. I'm not a fan but that was really good. Didn't feel like I was choking on cheese and it was good quality cheese. All in all it was a good experience and would come back again.

My daughter gave me a dinner recommendation while I was traveling out of town so I decided to take it. I had previously planned on going to Jimmy's but the plans changed. This time it was just me so I made sure that I was going. The staff was very warm and welcoming. Since it was my first time eating there, they made sure to provide me with suggestions on what to get. Benjamin, my server, did not steer me wrong. I ordered the Old Bay garlic butter aged steak. Without a doubt, this was one of the best steaks that I have ever eaten. They served it as the perfect temperature as I requested. It was moist and juicy. The steak was very flavorful and tender. I could not have asked for a better meal. The dining room was buzzing with people having a great time and enjoying great food. I cannot wait to return again!

If you're looking for a place that delivers on every level--food, drinks, atmosphere, and service--Jimmy's Famous Seafood absolutely knocked it out of the park for us. My sister and childhood friend were visiting from Texas and Florida, so we wanted somewhere memorable--and this was it. We started with cocktails: a perfectly balanced Lemontini, a bold and flavorful Bloody Mary, and an Espresso Martini that was smooth with just the right kick. Every drink hit. Then came the food... and yes, we went all in. Crab Dip, Crab Eggrolls, raw oysters, chicken wings, Crab Mac & Cheese, and stuffed shrimp with baked mashed potatoes. Not a single miss. Everything was fresh, packed with flavor, and clearly made with care. Portions were generous--we happily left with plenty for midnight snacks. What truly elevated the experience, though, was the service. Our waitress was phenomenal--attentive, friendly, and on top of everything without ever making us feel rushed. Then Greer stopped by to check on us and even offered a tour of the restaurant, which was such a thoughtful touch. You can tell this place takes pride in what they do--the staff is incredibly welcoming, and the kitchen was spotless. From start to finish, this was more than just a meal--it was an experience. Between the amazing food, top-tier service, and the fun, lively atmosphere (with the added bonus of potential celebrity sightings), this spot is a must-visit. And if you're not local? No problem. Their frozen food options are packaged exceptionally well for delivery, and their food trucks bring the same quality on the road--I follow them since I live a couple hours away! Bottom line: if you haven't been to Jimmy's yet, you're missing out. We'll absolutely be back.

The thing that has brought me to Jimmy's is the Taylor Swift brunch parties. The first one was meh. The staff weren't very attentive (they were probably also overwhelmed), there wasn't any decor, and the food was underwhelming. And there was the manager/owner/whatever really pressuring folks to write positive Google reviews. The second one I attended (for The Life of a Showgirl release) was immensely better! There was decor, super cute placemats, etc. And the staff was more friendly, attentive, and engaging. Even the food was better. The upstairs bar area is smaller than I was expecting. But it's a nice space with a large square bar, plenty of TVs, and even a patio area. I'd be interested to sample the dinner menu and try more of the non-brunch options. So hopefully I'll find myself in Baltimore sometime where I can do that.

Jimmy's Famous Seafood Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Jimmy's Famous Seafood

Are you guys open Xmas day this year? Found you on a list of places that may be open.

Yes, we are. We are open 365 days a year, including all major holidays

Is there a food menu available in the bar area (after the dining room closes)?

Absolutely. We stop seating in the main dining room 9 pm. However, the kitchen remains open to serve the bar area until 11 or 12 pm depending upon the day.

    Are reservations mandatory?

Reservations are not mandatory, but strongly suggested.

    Is there a dress code?

No, no dress code at the bar for sure. Shirts and shoes probably required. :) I would think the entire restaurant is come as you are, being a casual, crab restaurant (messy) as well.

Do they have bottomless brunches on the weekends?

    Yes until 2:00

    Is there parking on site?

    They do have parking.

Do they serve from their entire menu on Sundays, or only the brunch menu?

    I don't know

Do they still do a weekend happy hour?

    Yes on Saturday 2pm- 5pm

Our shared side of the grilled Zucchini (definitely enough to share) was also a highlight. We've been raving about our fried clam sandwich and lobster roll since. Both were amazing; my wife said it was the best lobster roll she's had (we've never been to maine or anywhere known for lobster). The dessert passion fruit pie was a great way to end, also shared, but the crust was a little too thick and the dollop on top did kind of over power the curd. We ordered the small raw seafood tower, the steamed seafood platter, and the lobster pasta from the large plates section. We are a family of four with a pretty big appetite, and it ended up being the perfect amount of food for us. Everything was delicious and incredibly fresh. The raw tower came with cocktail sauce, mignonette, horseradish, and lemon slices, and the steamed platter was served with melted butter and nicely seasoned spices. There was also hot sauce and Old Bay seasoning on the table so you could customize everything to your taste. Once the seafood arrived we got fully busy with our hands and all the tools provided, which honestly made the whole experience even more fun. I genuinely cannot pick a favorite because we enjoyed every single thing we ordered. I also tried the Orange Crush, which I learned is a Maryland vodka drink made with freshly crushed fruit juice.
