My daughter gave me a dinner recommendation while I was traveling out of town so I decided to take it. I had previously planned on going to Jimmy's but the plans changed. This time it was just me so I made sure that I was going. The staff was very warm and welcoming. Since it was my first time eating there, they made sure to provide me with suggestions on what to get. Benjamin, my server, did not steer me wrong. I ordered the Old Bay garlic butter aged steak. Without a doubt, this was one of the best steaks that I have ever eaten. We were looking for something exceptional and I believe we found it. All were in agreement to share the Seafood Tower. Crab Cake Egg Rolls, Mini Lobster Tails, Jumbo Calamari, Tequila Lime Shrimp, Jackpot (Clams Casino and Oysters Rockefeller), Grilled Octopus, Mussels Nirvana, and Famous Crab Dip. It was all so so delicious. Though the portions may look small it was more than enough to satisfy our fill. And well worth the price. I was also told you could order this nation wide. Give them a buzz to place your order. Growing up in the East Coast the thing I missed the most was blue crab. I ordered some excited to have satiated by craving. I took my family to Jimmy's last weekend and it was so great! We went upstairs and are there...the vibes were good, good music and nice staff. My only complaint is my seating we sat at a tall table and it was a little tight especially with two kids. But that's it! So the staff was great! I noticed that every server who walks past stops and checks in at the table so we felt very seen and that everything we wanted was addressed. We appreciated the courtesy. Our server Nikki was super friendly and made great selections. Ok so for food, we listen and we don't judge ok! My daughters had the Poboy with all the options for protein. My other daughter had the kids shrimp (which could full feed and satisfy an adult). The thing that has brought me to Jimmy's is the Taylor Swift brunch parties. The first one was meh. The staff weren't very attentive (they were probably also overwhelmed), there wasn't any decor, and the food was underwhelming. And there was the manager/owner/whatever really pressuring folks to write positive Google reviews. The second one I attended (for The Life of a Showgirl release) was immensely better! There was decor, super cute placemats, etc. And the staff was more friendly, attentive, and engaging. Even the food was better. The upstairs bar area is smaller than I was expecting. But it's a nice space with a large square bar, plenty of TVs, and even a patio area. I'd be interested to sample the dinner menu and try more of the non-brunch options. So hopefully I'll find myself in Baltimore sometime where I can do that. read more

Very bright and spacious. We tried the crab dip (sorry - we destroyed it pretty quick so no photo) which came with a thick garlic toast. Yummm. My husband had the chicken Chesapeake with green beans. He was very happy. Said it was great portion and delicious. He also took down two of their Cinder & Smoke old fashioneds. With this being a high recommendation from my favorite auntie and cousins who are like brothers to me, we decided to end our weekend trip with a meal here - and this ended the trip in a high note, leaving us stuffed and almost unable to head back up the road lol. We called ahead to see if we needed reservations and, because of the time of day we went and the fact we were just 20 minutes away, we didn't need them. But we got there at the right time because a rush of people came in like 15-20 minutes after we arrived. Anyways, the restaurant was giving the vibe it should be downtown or on the water or something, tons of seating inside and outside on multiple levels. Staff were great, including our amazing waitress who gave us some background on the restaurant and an awesome recommendation/validation of what I would order for my entree. Food and drink were top-notch! We got the Finger Food Sampler as our app, boyfriend ordered the Steam Pot and I got the Build Your Own Pasta with penne, seafood and the ecstasy sauce which came with a Caesar salad. Delicious! You could tell how fresh the seafood was and they don't skimp on the amount they put/use in each dish. And the portion sizes were wonderful - I had pretty much another full meal with the leftovers I took from here. Highly recommend checking them out! We had an incredible time and ate far too much crab at Jimmy's. Our waiter had great recommendations including the Crab Egg rolls and Bluepoint oysters for my wife. My crab cakes were delicious but the sauce with them made it unforgettable! The crab dip was delicious, but absolutely needed more of the bread as there was just so much dip left! My only lowlight was the crab Mac which became just a bit too heavy and overwhelming. I'm sure it would've been great on its own, but with everything else we ordered, it was not something I would've paired with the rest of our very dense appetizers and entrees. For starters it was Thursday Night. So we had the Retro Night Mai Tai and a Moscow Mule, (not on the special). He had a 2nd drink, the Golden Gato. Appetizer was the Bloody Mary Deviled Eggs. And let me tell you how that slice of bacon and that half of cherry tomato sets them eggs off . Entrees??? The seafood linguine pasta with creole sauce, the crabby mac, the 6 lbs 1974 crab cake, The Boss 1 lb crab cake with the Greek Lemon Skillet potatoes and finally the Baked Garlic Mashed Potatoes. #ChefsKiss to it all though I would've preferred more creole seasoning in the pasta and the mac and cheese. Jimmys was absolutely one of our favorite restaurants, pre-COVID. we even made the long trek to patronize during COVID, to get our to-go orders and to celebrate my dads birthday with the outside dining. The food wasn't up to its normal standards but everyone and everything during that time was "off". Fast forward and we are a few years out of COVID. We were very happy they could accommodate a reservation for 15. We all in our party, however, agree that this was our third and LAST visit to Jimmys. We used to wait for over an hour for a seat here. We should've taken the hint when the restaurant was considerably empty for a weekend. We all had an huge sampling of the menu. The crab cakes have that same topping as the "imperial" crab and is just simply put not good, as does all of the crab dishes and appetizers we ordered, to include the pretzels. The fried butterfly shrimp was void of flavor. period. The sushi, while beautiful in presentation, was nothing better than what is served at Wegmans. My sister sent her pasta back to the kitchen, the sauce was watery and lacked flavor. Not very accommodating, the seafood platter can only be broiled, not fried. Too many dishes to go through them all. The birthday girl ordered a steak and it was pretty good, but with all of the 4-5 star steak houses in the DMV don't drive all the way to Jimmys. The steak ain't worth the sizzle. It definitely is not The Prime Rib or DC Prime. We had 2 waiters and the service from the guy was nothing short of excellent. His name escapes me, but a tall African American gentleman, I think the only one serving that day. His partner, a slight brunette certainly pales in comparison. When sharing our experience with friends and neighbors, we were made aware of the owners' political and racially inflammatory posts and views. With family's immigrant story, I don't get it. To each his own, but when I'm spending $800+ on a meal, I got choices. As such we'll never patronize this establishment again. Do your homework everyone and it just isn't good anymore. read more

We came to dine at Jimmy's Live because of a band I know that was performing. Live and Loud- it's how it's supposed to be and service was great! I'd read great reviews about their food--and they were absolutely right!!! My daughters shared the filet bistro and really enjoyed it--the steak was incredibly tender. I had the paella, which was a bit salty at first, but with a squeeze of the lemon it came with, it turned out perfect! You definitely shouldn't miss the calamari either. It's a really nice location with lots of indoor and outdoor seating but it was busy so we sat at the bar to avoid the wait time. I built my own pasta and I'm so happy I did. Seafood penne with some spicy sauce. So good!! The bar is nice, kinda small but there are a few TVs to make us for that. The bartenders seemed to have an attitude which is the reason for me not giving them 5 stars. The couple next to us noticed the attitudes as well so they left the bar to get a table. They were not attentive to us, and barely checked on us but they were real friendly towards other people. I'm not sure what that was about but after I finished enough of my food we left. To start, we ordered the Drunken Crab Balls and the Crab Cake Eggrolls--both packed with flavor. The eggrolls with the slaw mixture were especially delicious and a standout appetizer. For my entrée, I had the steamed shrimp paired with stir-fried potatoes, and I shared the crab legs from my mom's plate--steamed to perfection. We were visiting friends in Baltimore and of course a crab cake was on our list of must haves during our trip. We went to Jimmy's seafood on a Saturday afternoon in between the lunch and dinner rush, but still encountered a 30 minute wait for a table - this place is popular! We spent our wait at the bar and ordered some drinks while we waited. They have a nice cocktail, beer, and NA drink menu with great variety. The crab cakes are quintessential Maryland crab cakes, very little filler, perfectly seasoned, and broiled to a slight crisp texture. Broiled is the only way to go! If crab isn't your thing, they have plenty of other options on the menu including pastas, burgers, and other seafood entrees. My personal favorite side dish was the Greek lemon skillet potatoes, which were perfectly fried and had a nice acidity from the lemon. Our server was very nice, but my one complaint is that service felt a little slow and she didn't check in as often as we would have liked, for drink refills etc. It's a large restaurant that seems to always be busy, but it would have been nice to not have to flag our server down for more water. I've been here so many times and it hasn't always been consistent. I'm not saying my inconsistent level of content is directly related to this outright, scientifically studied and proven fact that this restaurant doesn't always/often actually use local crabs, but it is clear that the menu and the staff will lie regardless. This is often NOT actually Maryland crabs like stated. In fact often it's not even from the USA. I understand needing to make business based decisions, my issue is the outright lying to customers. How do I know you you're not also randomly adding carcinogenic plastic to the recipe. I'm definitely not suggesting this, but the ethical principles and outright lies of the restaurant, management and ownership is what I'm questioning. I visited Jimmy's on a rainy Saturday afternoon. I arrived just as they were opening and was greeted warmly upon my arrival. There's a private parking lot with plenty of parking adjacent to the restaurant. The restaurant is massive. There are several dining spaces and bars. Everything seemed clean and in good order. I had chicken sliders top with crab dip and fries. The food was delivered quickly. It was good. Typical American cuisine. My server was attentive and kind. I'd go back if in the area or invited but not sure I'd necessarily plan an outing there for myself. Everything would have been a 10/10 but I have a few thoughts on the drinks... okay so for the good stuff. Staff was exceptional, we had our server and other staff check on us multiple times, they had clear and honest communication and was super helpful when going over the menu. I came here in a decent size group of 6 and they had live music playing. Because it was Father's Day they gave us a Father's Day menu but since some members of my family were a little picky they gave us their regular menus as well. My dad, myself and brother in law got drinks and they were pretty weak. They tasted great but for higher priced drinks I was expecting a little more of a buzz. Now for the food, MANNNN that thang was banging! Ever with how high priced SOME of the items were it was definitely worth it. I ordered stuffed shrimp and the mash & the shrimp was good size (LOVED THAT) & the mash was mashing , literally mouth watering. My brother ordered "the bruiser" , that burger was MASSIVE but he literally devoured it lol! Overall the atmosphere, the staff, the wait time for food/drinks and the taste of the food was 10/10 plus I liked the fact that gratuity was automatically added so that took the stress away of determining but the drinks were in the weaker side.
