The display also showed $5 for weekends and $3 midweek. We wanted to do the Redwood trail and were directed to parking lot A. The park is big and beautifully landscaped with a pond and various picnic areas that can be rented in advance. There is enough space to set up all kinds of games. We brought a picnic lunch and sat on a bench that was perfectly situated alone amongst the desert plants. After lunch, we followed the signs for the Redwood Grove Trail which was labeled as easy and is a 1.5 miles dirt trail to the Redwood trees. When you arrive you'll see a small Redwood forest with the history of the trees displayed before you enter. A really beautiful and peaceful spot to relax for a bit. On our way back we decided to take the Creek Trail to see where it would lead us. I was hoping to see water at the end of this trail. But, we only saw a bunch of rocks at one point that may be filled with water if it rains. The end of this trail did lead us to a beautiful butterfly garden and the opposite end of the park. We made the walk back and stopped at the pond. There appeared to be other trails surrounding the park and a trail that leads to the Carbon Canyon Dam.

The big deal here is to take photos adjacent to the large water fountain. This is an extremely popular photo location, as over 100 students here in formal wear from various high schools. The park itself was very clean and well-maintained, with numerous areas for visitors to take photos. Parking is available in one of the numerous parking lots surrounding the park.

Parking is easy with a large lot right next to the lake, opposite of the lake are some hiking trails if you have more time. It's a nice loop going around with some different areas along the way such as a small creek, reeds near the shore, and some water works that looks like they have been turned off or no longer function. Even in Winter there are a lot of different birds around. My kids loved following and chasing the large pelicans in the lake. You can fish here and there are children's fishing competitions. Just keep in mind to have a permit because when we went there was a police officer checking and ticketing people.

The park's across the street by St. Juliana's Catholic Church, so that happens to be walkable from this park. Street parking is available. Just be careful when you're stepping out of your vehicle - people drive by the corners VERY fast, with the huge blind spot coming down a slightly slopey road. Otherwise, would return to this park!

That route got me about 6 miles in. It's a well-trafficked trail, so I felt safe throughout my run with plenty of walkers, runners, and cyclists around. The trail is mostly flat, making it great for easy runs, but there are a few sections that dip down and back up so you can get a little hill work in too. One thing to note is that there isn't much shade, and I didn't come across any water fountains along the trail. If you're planning to run on a hot, sunny day, make sure you're hydrated and bring enough water!

If you park next to Brea Blvd., there is a small parking lot with restrooms and an outdoor gym. The parking lot is small, so be prepared to wait or find other parking. The paved trail runs a few miles in both directions. It also has painted lines for two way traffic. It's a scenic route with houses on one side and businesses on the other side. Overall, a wonderful paved trail for your young riders, joggers, walkers, skateboarders, e-bikers, and outdoorsy people. Xie Xie!
