We took our young greyhound to Pat for four days initially and when we picked our dog back up she was in great shape and I even think Pat taught her a thing or two. We left our dog here again for a longer stay of about 12 days and again no issues at all. Our pup loves coming here. It is worth the drive from DC even if it is a bit of a hike. I have no worries leaving my dog here. The same cannot be said of many of the places in DC proper which are often understaffed and very expensive. We'll be visiting often!

We were absorbed when they acquired Dr. Scott's practice. We stayed because of Dr. Scott because he was that good a Vet but as a whole we were very dissatisfied with PAWS. The service their is terrible in that they are very pushy. They like to tell what you need to with your pet and the reason is their prices are way higher. They want you to use their online store for prescriptions which usually run about 20-30% higher than other options. If you're not willing to use their online store they try to make it more difficult to get your prescriptions filled. And it's not just me. I won't name names but I have spoken with a number of employees there who actually stated "We understand where you are coming from. Ever since we came under the current management group our prices have risen quite a bit and alot of our longterm customers have been very unhappy. Unless you like overpaying for your preventive medications and people being pushy and telling you what you need to do I could not recommend this Vet to anyone. How can use or listen to a Vet that you don't trust. They talk about "Trust" but I think it's just a tagline. I don't think they really understand what that word means.

They house the cats in a separate area from the dogs of course and the cats have their own large cage with a litterbox and bowl of water that's changed daily and two separate perches for them to hop onto. My cat loves his Fancy Feast grilled wet food and temptation treats so I packed that for his stay which the staff happily gave him. The staff is accommodating to pet's needs so please discuss those concerns with them. To help him feel comfortable with his stay away from home i provided his own small blanket and it was placed into the cage. You don't need to bring your own feeding/water bowls Anchors Kennel provides that. I called almost every day to speak with a staff member who was familiar with my cat and how he was handling the stay. The rates are super affordable the best in the DMV area! You must be current on your pet's immunizations and show proof otherwise you will be denied care at the facility. A pet report card is given at the time of checkout (so cute) about behavior, feeding times, how well pet interacted with staff etc... I needed to get it filled before they returned, but after calling several vets in the area, I wasn't finding anyone willing to help--which was both scary and frustrating. When I called here, the staff was absolutely wonderful. They spoke with me kindly, calmed my fears, and assured me they would help me find a solution. They even fit me in for a same-day appointment. We met with Dr. Nickens, who was absolutely amazing--so gentle with my dog (who is usually very fearful and nervous). He did so well with her! She gave him a thorough check-up, offered helpful instructions on controlling his weight (he's a little heavier than he should be!), and provided a prescription to get us through the next few weeks. She was attentive, patient, and took her time going over everything with me--I never felt rushed. I am beyond grateful for their kindness and the way they cared for my dog. Her bedside manner is truly the best I've ever seen. She is remarkably caring, genuinely attentive, and incredibly reachable. In a time where it feels impossible to get a real person on the phone, she actually takes the time to return your calls and check in on your fur babies. To be honest, part of me was afraid to update this review because if too many people find out about how amazing she and her staff are, they might get completely flooded with appointments!
