Update: First, I have to say that I have seen the same manager at the west side and paseo location. With that said, I am sad to say that for the third visit that I have felt necessary to comment, today was a failure. The previous statements below still are solid. No new changes, so consistently, they have mastered "bland." The staff is still cheerful and they work hard to move the line and get the food out quickly, clean, and effectively. Unfortunately, executing a bad play well really does not accomplish much of anything. First, we were some of the first customers of the day. Normally, I would expect this to be a good thing as food should be fresh and warm for the hot components and cold for the cool ones. That was not the case. The chicken in my tacos was at best, room temperature. It was bland, and could have been tofu....with no salt at that. The salsa (red hot) was not detectable except for the occasional burst of searing heat, but certainly no taste, just heat. The sour cream was warm. Yes, warm. I do not know how, but it was warm. The lettuce was a bit wilted, and room temperature. Next, I think a great sign of a quality Mexican type meal can be measured by their taco. If they can blow out a taco, then everything else normally is wonderful. First, a great taco starts with the corn tortilla. They have good tasting, thick corn tortillas. Yet, if you do not properly cook the tortilla, because it is fat with cornmeal, they crumble. A taco artist can take this type of tortilla, and cook it at a temperature with the appropriate oil that the result is a light, crispy, slightly sweet, Carmel salty outcome as the shell. The best case would be crispy, yet not so unstable that it shatters with the first bite. Well, in this case, I ordered the tacos soft, which normally means cooking the tortillas until piping hot. This gives them pliability and matures the taste and texture. Mine were cold. Like out of the fridge cold. And here is what baffles me. The guy making this in front of me, puts the tortillas on a griddle that must have been cold. There is no other explanation. The net result was three tacos that crumbled, with the tortillas resembling play dough. YUCK! I posted a photo to show the carnage. Well, sadly, this was my third visit to this store alone, and I am a firm believer in allowing a store time to find a groove, but in this case, there is no progress. I cannot see me returning, which is really unfortunate, as I loved Chipotle in Indiana! I know it can be better which is the frustrating part. Again, underwhelmed. The proteins are simply bland. I tried the chicken tacos and was let down. The food just is not what I remember from other stores in different states. That said, the staff is incredible and can move people through the store quickly and they are incredibly service focused. My wife loves Chipoltle but even she agreed with me that some how the portions have magically shrunk to half their old size. Still tasty but not enough to satisfy a grown man ... and at over $24 for two, they are seriously a terrible value. The server was careful to not even fill the delivery spoon up. I will never return. Horrible. The customer service was the worst I've had. No "hello, what can I get started for you". I walked up and was stared at until I ordered. After the first guy put meat in my burrito bowl the next girl had a horrible attitude and stared at me until I ordered the toppings. I was given very VERY little meat so I asked if they could put more and was told it would cost extra. They gave me one more spoon full and it cost $4.60 extra. Hit or Miss location. The meat is the main issue here. Carnitas - mainly salty. The chips are not like years ago when you would be loaded down with any and all chips in a bag. Instead, it is clearly a corporate decision based on volume and not customer preferences. Skip the chips and go to your nearest grocery store and buy a huge bag or Tortilla chips - same cost and last longer. The staff at this location always seem friendly enough so that is not an issue at all. The cooks... someone needs to retrain how to cook for the masses and understand that heavy salt is NOT seasoning meat! On the bright side, you could always dip your flavorless expensive petty chips into your overly salted pork to balance out your palette. My husband loves this place. I on the other hand am not the biggest fan. Agreed to go tonight because honestly, I'm 36 weeks pregnant and just needed the bathroom and Chipotle was close haha. We walk in and order. I decided to try some tacos for the first time. And hubby always get the barbacoa burrito. I rush off to the bathroom before my bladder explodes while a baby kicks at it , and sit on the toilet only to he greeted by two big, red roaches. I quickly do my business and hustle out, because gross. The food was okay. I know people love it, but it just isn't my thing. I'd rather spend my money on something else more appealing to my belly. But in New Mexico, if THIS is where you're getting your burritos then you aren't looking very hard for authentic New Mexican food. And while the food is okay - the service - not so much. The employees are routinely rude and dismissive. What's worse is they just don't pay attention. The way this place works is you stand in line and then go to the counter to tell the employees what you want in your burrito. The problem is they hate their jobs so much they don't listen. It was "eat-able". I guess after watching the CNBC show on their company I expected something more. My burrito was okay...but my meat was grisly, tough, chewy. Not like it had been marinated at all or tenderized. I got the steak burrito with brown cilantro lime rice, black beans, medium salsa, sauteed peppers and onions, and a touch of cheese. I think maybe I should've ordered the chicken or the carnitas. ?? I will say, the guacamole was awesome! Chips and guac $2.95!. I am really impressed by their use of responsible ingredients. Chipotle has kind of been a "go to" fast food restaurant that my family and I usually go to. The kids meals are pretty cheap. While still exploring Albuquerque I stumbled upon this particular Chipotle location. I hadn't had some yummy steak tacos in a long time. As I parked my vehicle and approached the door, I realized I live in New Mexico now! I know that this isn't exactely the same kind of Mexican food I can get around town. Chipotle is differenct though! This isn't your run of mill mexican fast food restarant chain. These are some fresh ingredients here and cooked to perfection proteins. This Chipotle looks fairly new. The Chipotle's I am used to don't have the same layout as this one. Although I stopped in Flagstaff AZ one time and they had this type of layout. The front counter was standard so there were no suprises. I went during lunch hour, so the place was packed. Next to the counter there are a group of large tables that seat multiple people. The only thing I didn't like was how close to each other they were. If a stranger would sit across from you at this table it would be awkward because you would be only be about 12" apart. The other seating are your standard tables and some tables against the windows. The staff was freindly and pretty fast. If you live in the area you have to check this place out or if you just want to find a chipotle to eat at too. Order the steak tacos! Cheers! read more

Look, it is what it is. Chipotle is an upscale answer to Tex-Mex fast food. The ingredients are better, the options more vast, and the ambiance decidedly more "grown up." Chipotle is like a hip, urban Tac Bell experience. In a state like New Mexico, Chipotle faces a daunting uphill battle. While it does deliver in the chain-store strength areas of consistency, speed, and reliability, it does not offer what the land of manana craves: authenticity. People here know their tacos, they know their burritos, they know what they like, and they know where to get it from some place that has probably been serving them just that since their mom popped them out. However, I can't hate on Chipotle. It is a safe beacon, it does what it does, and does it effectively. You can get yourself a burrito bowl, you can have a burrito wrapped in a quesadilla, you can get whatever you want from any other Chipotle. read more

What can I say other than I LOVE CHIPOTLE! Guess you can tell I have not been deterred by the E. coli or any other food contaminant issue. I get the same thing every time. Burrito bowl, white rice, black beans, fajita veggies, chicken, mild salsa, corn, sour cream, cheese, guacamole, cheese and to top it off, a root beer! I have visited more than 20 locations and I love the fact I can get the same thing at each one and it tastes the same. Sometimes there is just a little more cilantro in the rice between different locations, but I love cilantro, so no biggie! I love the fact that they try to use local produce and sources for their meat. I hope they don't stop doing that just as a regulation measure. Oh chipotle how my tummy yearns for you... Chipotle has been one of my favorite places to eat at ever since I had the pleasure of trying it on my way to Denver CO. So you could only imagine my excitement when I learned that they were opening in the land of enchantment. That being said, this is definitely the best location in ABQ. They always have all the selections in stock (unlike some other locations in town), the place is always clean, the staff has never messed up my order. The only thing that I wish they had that other out of state locations have is margaritas, but, hey, I'm not about to sing them for that. This location is no different from any of the other chain locations across the country. I pick up takeout via the app all the time and I haven't had any issues. My food is exactly how I order it and my orders are all on time. I usually order a burrito bowl or salad with chicken, pinto beans, guacamole (extra charge - but cheaper and easier than making it myself when I'm getting takeout), cheese, light brown rice and side pico. I am a Chipotle fan and this location was not up to par. Got a Barbacoa salad and the wife got a steak burrito. We also got chips and guac. When we asked for the burrito to be double wrapped, the dude rolled his eyes and then asked us if we wanted it double wrapped...like we would change what we said because of his attitude. The others there were very nice and had great attitudes. So we sit down and the salad was great. The burrito...something just wasn't right with the meat. Excessive gristle and it wasn't seasoned like normal chipotle steak. I took a bite and damn if she wasn't right. The chips and guac were great. I've been out of the country for three years, and I told the kind employee preparing my meal that I was excited to have my first Chipotle bowl in a long time. The employee at the register overheard our conversation and provided the meal on the house (including chips and a drink). The barbacoa bowl was as good as I remembered (fresh and packed with flavor), but it was the service that really made the difference! The tables were all kept clean, and every one of the employees were friendly. I went around 2:30pm when it was less busy, so the atmosphere may have been more laid back than usual. OMG good! I have to admit for some reason I was on a boycott of this place and for the life of me can't even remember why!! After tonight though my heart and stomach is sure to change! I ordered a bowl which is a massive size quantity of cilantro seasoned rice, really good looking pinto beans, carne asada seasoned to perfection, Guac, cheese, and spicy red salsa caliente ayi ayi!! Typically I'm a burrito kind of girl but this bowl was a perfectly huge portion and I was able to order a side of tortilla chips and have a type of nachos of sorts! Which if you don't like a nacho you're like seriously disturbed! The restaurant itself is trendy, casual, and communal! The staff is polite, quick, and very clean!! I do need to give an extra shout out to the cashier he was so nice and had an awesome attitude totally someone worth working with!! The bathrooms were in stellar array as well! Salty, salty, salty, and salty. Meat quality is good but way to salty. If the meat is as good as it it's supposed to be it shouldn't need all the salt they put in it. The new queso was terrible. It did not feel or look like cheese. Taco Cabana queso is so much better! I do like the cilantro lime rice and black beans and guac. Should have gotten guac instead of queso. I am a fan of chipotle. However, this location was by far the dirtiest facility I have seen. For example, the tables we not cleaned; therefore, you needed to clean your own tables. In addition, to the trash cans over flowing on the floor, cups and trash on the floor, and the bathrooms were disgusting. The bathroom floor had urine around the toilet and down the toilet bowl. Furthermore, the trash can over flowing. There were multiple workers standing around chatting behind the cash wrap. Maybe, it was a "break" area if so the break area needs to be in a different area. I came into Chipotle today right around the time they first opened. All of the employees said "hello", welcomed me in and were very friendly. I ordered a burrito with sofritas, and went to go find a seat. It seemed like most of the tables I wanted to sit at were all dirty, which was odd seeing how it was so early. The burrito was just over $7 and came with nothing. No chips, just an empty basket and a burrito. I know this is the usual for Chipotle, but for 7 bucks they could throw a few chips in there when you dine in, ya know? Just my opinion. The burrito itself was seriously underwhelming. It wasn't spicy, it didn't have any delicious, fresh flavors to keep me wanting more bites, it was just bland and boring. Adding some of the green Tobasco helped a bit, but not enough. I ate about half of it, threw the rest out and that was it. I work pretty close by to here and really wish there was a good burrito place around here. I welcome any suggestions :) read more

Every time I've been here in the past three months the guacamole is slightly brown and tastes rotten. I also now ask for limes, because Chipotle apparently isn't making enough money to stock limes for customers any longer. The friendly staff gets me a lime.
