THIS BREAKS MY HEART!! I've eaten burgers, etc from Whataburger since I was a little girl in Texas. But, today when I got home w my take out - my order was wrong. I'd even asked the girl on the speaker to repeat my order back to me - she did so mumbling and almost in a whisper. I didn't hear her very well so I just thought I'd verify it at the window. A large guy brought my order and I asked if it had 2 gravy dipping sauces? He said no only 1. I told him I'd ordered an extra dipping gravy which he said it would be an Extra charge now. Since I'd already paid I just said forget it and left. Once home I looked at my order and there was NO Gravy dipping sauce!!! So I called back to Whataburger to report this. I was also curious what they'd say. But, after I explained about my order and experience. He told me the big guy who checked my order was an assistant mgr.;but, he did not apologize for their mistake, inconvenience or offer a free meal or anything! Just CRICKETS! Yes, there are other Whataburgers here and a nice new one on Alameda at San Pedro which is a little farther. I've always had very good courteous service there. Ugh...this used to be one of only 4 burger places I would eat at (Blake's Lotaburger New Mexico), In & Out, Chik-fil-A & Whataburger. Since they sold, it's different and I can't figure out why! I was disappointment. My mother wanted to go being from Texas, and she too said "it's not the same". We took it to go, but the place looked fairly clean for fast food. We've never had Whataburger. There isn't one where we live but we hear about it. My bf was saying that people say there are 3 good chains out there: In & Out, Five Guys and Whata and we HAD to try it now that we were so close to one. This was not on my itinerary but I decided to let him have one thing for himself in this life ;) This location was a few blocks from our hotel so we decided to come through the drive thru around 815pm. We got our food within 20 min but that wait felt much longer. It really felt like we were waiting days in that line. We ordered meals, one with onion rings but I'm a doof and forgot to check the bag before we left the drive thru so we both ended up with fries. Which was sad because the fries were so darn salty and they were stale and cold. The fries were soooo lackluster but the burger wasn't bad. It wasn't In & Out, or even Five Guys, so I'm not sure that those people know what they are talking about. But the burger wasn't bad. I think I was thrown off because I love tomato on a burger but they didn't have any, claiming a national shortage. Which is odd since I've had tomato on a lot of stuff during this trip. Best Whataburger in Albuqueque. I've tried them all and have been disappointed many times. This location though cooks the burger fresh after you made your order, they put all the fixings in if you like, but you can say "no pickles, please" and they do it, and the green chile is original Hatch chile. I've ordered using the app for curbside delivery, from as much as 10 minutes away. Show up and input the parking spot and I've waited for up to half an hour for the food to be brought out. Last time this happened there were very few cars in the drive through so it isn't like they were slammed. Tl;dr: just use the drive though at Whataburgers. We got this while in town because they are not where we live and when I had them last in Texas they seemed ok. This was not good. We got the bacon and cheese burger (they were cold) and fries which were over salted and cold. I got lemonade and it was like the Minute maid lemonade so it was basically sugary lemon flavored water. 26 minutes.... 26 minutes from order to receiving does not make this fast food. There are 4 of us, so for burger meals. 26 minutes? I'm unsure if NM mask mandate, or restaurant eat ins are still restricted. I clearly am not the only one. We saw multiple people trying to access the restaurant, and were turned away. No signage. That would have been smarter. The manager did come out and apologized. He also added 2 apple pies and some coupons for next time. He is why this place gets two stars. The burgers themselves were thrown together. I get you're busy, but take a minute to make sure you don't have onion on on corner, avocado on another corner... was not tasty. As far as the later reviews are concerned, they remain accurate. It is not good customer service or good for their business to have customers wait 30 minutes to an hour when there are only three cars available. It would be nice if they changed by now to Better Business, but it does not seem as if they are concerned. Whataburger is one of those mystique chains, kind of like In 'N' Out, where everyone goes on about how great it is. In the case of the latter, it definitely did not live up anywhere near to the hype for me. Even though I heard this bandied about in the same league as Five Guys, I kind of expected that here, but open mind and open mouth and all that. So, on a recent trip down, I took the opportunity. I'll start with the fries, which were kind of like McDonald's, if you didn't salt them, like at all. They were also cold, so total bust there, but I'm not going to a burger joint for the fries. As to the burger, gotta say, it was mostly nice. Very solid burger flavor, but the patty is way thinner than I was expecting. Like the aforementioned In/Out place, definitely need to order with double patties. If not, the ratio is decidedly not great. Also had Coke Zero on tap, good mix, always a solid plus in my book. Definitely will be needing to visit one of these again in the future, to see if that modification I mentioned worked as well as I would hope. read more

Went last night to get a burger since everything in this god forsaken city closes at 8 pm. Waited about 30 min They got my order wrong. Asked for just cheese & ketchup only. They gave me cheese and mustard. Two things on a burger. How do you get that wrong? I swear, every time I hear people say that this place is better than In-N-Out I stop & wonder why. Definitely one of the better Whataburger locations (Osuna & Jefferson) in my opinion. Came in during lunch so it was busy and got my food quickly. Everything was fresh, including the fries, which was my biggest worry. This was the most disappointed I have been after eating whataburger. I got the buffalo ranch chicken sandwich because I had a buy one get one free coupon from the app. The chicken strips were DRY. It's as if it was sitting under the heat-lamp for hours. I'm sure they were old chicken strips since they had my order ready a minute after I ordered it. All the other locations it takes a while since they fry the chicken strips to order. They used way too much ranch. The chicken was drowning in ranch. Which now that I think of it, maybe they did it on purpose since the chicken was so dry. It barely had any buffalo sauce. They should just call it a ranch chicken strip sandwich. This is how disappointed I was, as I was eating it, I said to myself, "I should have just waited for McDonald's to start serving lunch so I can get some nuggets." After calling and speaking to bri, she called me ignorant, then proceeded to lie about not being able to refund my card unless I was still there. I finally found out what all the fuss is about with Whataburger! I was not disappointed. I ordered Whataburger combo with a chocolate shake. The chocolate shake was really really good! The burger and fries also weren't bad at all. The service at this location was also very nice and friendly . I'm from st. Louis and we don't have Whataburger there and although I've been to Texas a couple times I've never been to a Whataburger so I was so excited to see that they have them in Albuquerque while visiting there. I always come to this location because it is only a 5 minute drive from work. The service is always great, although try and get here before 11:30 because after that the lines are out the door. I always get the kids meal with gravy which is enough food for me and the cheapest meal on the menu. Get this if you don't eat a lot and want an inexpensive meal. read more

Unlike the other reviews, whose writers expect a five star world class dining experience when they walk into a fast food restaurant, the score I give is scaled according to whataburger's target audience. I got the special green chile double meal, which was $7.59. It was a burger with two patties and green chile. The patties were juicy and succulent, but the green chile left a little to be desired. The fries weren't as fresh as I would have liked, but in typical Whataburger fashion, they were still crispy and tasty. However, I give Whataburger four stars because it wasn't as mind-blowingly delicious as I remember from my childhood. As it is now, Whataburger is simply an above average fast food restaurant. Make no mistake though, I highly recommend Whataburger to anyone lucky enough to be in its presence. read more
