I eat at the Barracks Road Chipotle every week and love it. Food is always fresh and delicious and it's one of my favorite places to eat. So of course I stopped at this new one when I was in the neighborhood... very different story. It's literally like a different franchise, the food is stale, soggy and lacks flavor. I've eaten here a few times and had quite different experiences each time. The first time I tried it the place was extremely dirty and the meat was burnt and inedible. The next two times I tried it the food was fine and it was pretty clean. Finally, I recently ordered delivery using a local service and they made my chicken bowl, chickenless. Though I guess it tasted fine otherwise. Interesting place. Isn't like any other chipotle I've been too. Must be a management problem for them to be so widely inconsistent. As for the other reviewers saying their employees are rude I've never had that problem. I understand these are trying times but that only goes so far when it comes to service. We were there on a Friday for lunch and was told online only orders due to staffing issues. No problem. We place our order online, run an errand and come back right at the time the online order said it would be ready. And we wait. And wait. And wait. 45 minutes I was waiting (that's 45 minutes after the time it was to be ready so about 1hr 15 minutes since placing the order). there were 2 employees filling the orders and 5 other employees standing around in the back. None of them moving with any care or hurriedness. This wasn't my first experience like this at both of the Cville locations. I love Chipotle but it will be a long time before I go back. I try to be patient and support local businesses and restaurants during this trying time but I expect them to act like they care just a little in return. read more

I'm vegan and used to go to this Chipotle since the other nearby is always crowded. Last time I went I found a piece of steak on my sofritas, making me furious. If you're vegan, do not trust Chipotle's "vegan" option. They don't really separate anything and couldn't care less about their own product. Came in on a Saturday night around 8pm thought it would be in and out no problem....complete opposite. 5 people away from beginning my order...took 15 minutes to get to lady taking the initial part of my order. ...15minutes later the cashier was processing my order (2 burrito bowls and 2 water cups, so not crazy complicated). Sat down to eat and my food was cold. Tasted fine but was definitely not fresh and warm. There were only 4 employees working behind the ordering area (2 on the line, 1 cashier, 1 in the kitchen area) Then there were 4 employees out on the patio I'm assuming we're on some sort of break but interesting because they were there when we walked in and had just walked back in when we were leaving...so about a 45 minute break for each of them. It's either horrible management and lazy employees (they could see the line was backing up) or just plan horrible management for letting that many take break at the same time on a Saturday night. Also every table in the place was dirty and the condiments/napkin bar was out of almost everything clearly showing it had been a long time since any employee had serviced them. First month they were open...okay they were still getting the job down pat Second month they were open...okay they were still refining their teamwork Third month....no excuse, no signs of improvement at all. Management needs to do a check up Very loyal customer of chipotle's in DC, Nova, RVA, and the Emmet St. location but there's no way I can recommend this location. Management needs to change or something because they aren't getting the job done. Didn't do one star because the food still tasted fine. Parking for this location also is horrible. Need to make employees park across street or something. Parking in giant lot and walking over is your best bet. Really think this could be a great location for them but just need to do a checkup on how it's currently running. read more

I went to this location for a delivery pickup on 04/07/2020. At least 12 people standing around waiting to pick up their order. Social distancing and 10 people limitation was not in place. Informed staff I was sending the order back for another driver assignment as I was not comfortable in the environment. Notified Albemarle County police of violation. read more

Secret shopper needed! I understand that Covid has had a huge impact on overall service and availability of certain items. This review is not about that, this review is about customer service and overall attitude of the employees. I live close to this chipotle and have been going there for over 2 years, at least once a week. In that time I have watched the customer service and overall respect for the customer plummet. Having to use tin foil instead of a top on a bowl is inconvenient, but having to listen to employees openly mock other customers and curse in front of front of customers is completely unacceptable. I never write reviews but after the 3rd visit in a row where I have had to listen to the employees bad talk other customers in front of me, I felt like I had to write a review. Today I listened as employees mocked a specific customer for how he wanted his meal prepared. Then they proceeded to talk about how ridiculous people can be, all right in front of multiple customers. I worked in customer service and I know people can suck, but you don't talk about it right in front of customers! It stems from the management. Anyone who has been to this chipotle knows that there is one older guy and one older girl that run the show. The guy isn't bad but the girl openly complains, cusses, and shit talks customers in front of other customers. I've even watched customers refuse to allow her to serve them because right before she jumps in line she is talking shit about another customer. I don't know if chipotle has secret shoppers but if they do then they need to send someone to this store right away. Any time after 7 is usually when I go and I can say with confidence that if you go after 7 you will see what I'm talking about. Something has to change here! read more

Don't bother ordering ahead. I went online and ordered my burrito bowl and paid online so that I could get in and out quickly at lunch time on a work day. The online order said my food would be ready for pickup when they opened at 11, so I was there a few minutes before. When I gave my name the cashier asked if it could have the name "Ashley or Mike" on it. I said absolutely not, it was under my name. I offered to show her the email saying my order would be ready 5 minutes ago (time was ticking by). She then said "No, I see it here on the computer". She then printed the ticket and went over and put it on the board. The line employees were busily serving the people waiting in line. After I complained several times and finally gave up and got in line, one of the employees came over and made my meal. The cashier was barely civil, I had explained to her that I ordered ahead so that I could get back to work quickly, I told her when I picked it up that I would have done better if I had just came in and stood in line. When I opened my meal I discovered that instead of the brown rice I'd ordered that they had used ice cold white rice. The chicken was barely warm and tasted good but I would have preferred a warm meal like I get over at Barracks Road. Needless to say I will never go to the Abbey Rd. location again. At opening time the tables were all smeared and dirty looking, like they had been wiped with a damp cloth and no cleaning solution. Wednesday April 20th 6:30 pm saw the filthiest Chipotle I have ever seen. Every table was dirty, the kitchen floor was covered with food, there was sour cream smeared all over the counter. If I hadn't waited for 30 minutes in line before I saw the filth I would have walked out. Worst chipotle experience in Charlottesville. Young man, with a Mohawk/mullet serving the food was extremely rude on 10-04-20. He wouldn't give me the accurate portions I asked for. He was being extremely rude, and petty. He literally gave a tip spoon more of chicken. Although I said extra.. more. We were there for 5 minutes. It's as if he wanted to be combative. He expected a rude reaction out of me, but I remained calmed instead. This made him irate. I literally told him to calm down like a 4 year old toddler, he was infuriated. I came back 5 minutes later, I had multiple orders to place. The second time I came through he was somewhat calmer, and confused to see me back placing another order. I told him that I also work in customer service, and there was no need to be so dramatic. It shouldn't be so difficult to get more food, if your obviously paying for it. He kept saying it's going to be extra, and threw his hands up. It was a unnecessary encounter last night. My food wasn't even good. The second time I came thru, he gave me more chicken, without me saying "extra". It's mind boggling to see someone so out of tune with customer service. Management needs to train staff to have hospitality skills. Definitely will NOT be returning!!! To the young man... you need to revaluate your customer service skills. Awful. Just awful. I placed an order for delivery which Door Dash handles apparently. 30 minutes after ordering a driver attempted to pick up the order and sat there for ten minutes and nobody would come bring the food out or answer the door. Their phones were off the hook as well so couldn't get ahold of them. The driver took off and another driver was dispatched about 30 minutes later. Same exact thing - sat there for 10 minutes and nobody would bring food out and phone was still off the hook. Another 30 minutes later a 3rd driver was dispatched and sat there for 10 minutes and finally someone came out and said they were about to start working on my order...1.5 hours after I placed the online order. I called the store about 5-6 times over the course of this time and it never even rang once. 2 hours later I finally got my food delivered. I realize that these are some difficult times right now to operate in, but I've ordered from plenty of other places where everything went very smoothly. All in all this was just a really awful experience with Chipotle and Door Dash. read more

At first I thought it must have been a fluke, but then I saw other people complaining about issues with online ordering with this location. Yesterday I ordered dinner from the app at the end of my shift. After working a 13 hr shift I didn't feel like waiting in the crazy long line so online ordering seemed like the way to go. When I got there I walked up to the counter and the guy at the register avoided eye contact with me (like he wasn't sure why I didn't get in line). When I was finally able to get his attention I asked for my order. Long story short it had not even been started and I was there 15 minutes after my pickup time! The ticket was just sitting on the wall, no one had bothered to address it. They started working on it, meanwhile the line kept moving, I quickly came to the realization that it would have been faster to just wait in line. In the end he "looked" at the ticket and handed me my burrito. I then had to let him know that I had also ordered chips and a drink. This is the worst Chipotle around service-wise, in my experience. Each time I go there the employees are having too good a time talking and laughing with each other that they neglect customers. The pantops location is awful. The food was cold, chips were stale. They had so many employees but they were not friendly, kept talking to one another instead of listening to the customer and very slow. It seemed as if most of them were just standing around not doing anything. I eat at the chipotle located on Emmet street all of the time. When I heard there now was a chipotle located on Abby road I was excited. It was going to be much easier to get to during the week. When I first visited,the service and food was no match to the one on Emmet street I recently visited this restaurant again and the service and food got worse. The employees were not taking the job serious. They were all very rude and short. It felt like i was wasting their time. Also I had to wait an extra ten minutes for half of my food to be ready. Chipotle is suppose to be a classy, quick serving restaurant, this one is the complete opposite. After the food was ready I began to go down the line and build my bowl. The lady serving me gave me an extra small portion of each thing I ask for in my bowl. As we continued down the line she asked me if I was done, when clearly I was not. This has been the worst service I have ever had at chipotle. I would not recommend this particular restaurant to anyone. It will ruin your love for chipotle. read more

This is about the 5th time my order was ruined by inattentive, and distracted staff. Here you always need to check if what you ordered actually made it into to the bag. They will often try to overcharge you for guacamole on the side. The food is OK like in any other Chipotle, but chips are more often stale. If you see a long line, avoid at all costs because it becomes a circus of confusion. read more

I love Chipotle, it's probably my favorite fastfood place. Imagine my excitement when they announced this was opening right by my house. I go here once a week - but it's by far the worst chipotle I've ever been to. They're messy, unfriendly. Bad staff, bad vibes, bad environment compared to any other. And it makes for inconsistencies in the food, too. The guac is sometimes brown. One time it was clear they put way too much salt and just rolled with it anyway - when you're Chipotle is too salty you know they put A LOT. I still go because it's easy and it's one of the few things my kids will eat, but it's a bummer the quality is so much worse than any other Chipotle I've been to. They have good days and it's not always a bad experience. Most of the time, it's "fine" or "pretty good". But it's never "awesome" - and that's what I've come to expect from other Chipotles. There's still a decent chance you'll go and be satisfied, but if you have a craving for Chipotle and have other options - I'd recommend those. On the plus side, I feel like the word is out on this Chipotle, so there's never much of a line and you can always get in and out pretty fast. Barracks is great quality wise but the wait and lines are insane. read more
