This is a cool spot for pretty good Mexican. Certainly good compared to other fast food places. Having a choice of rice is great and can change the flavor of my regular choice (in a good way). I'm a big barbacoa fan. Burrito not a bowl. Service is nice and moves pretty fast. I wish the guac was bigger and better but its no big deal. The biggest turn-off is the parking. You can't go wrong with any of their menu choices. There is always a line here so the food choices are never sitting there long and always fresh. I've tried many different combinations here and have been very pleased with all of them. Today I tried their organic tofu from Hodo Soy that they shred and then braise with chipotle chilis, roasted poblanos, and a blend of aromatic spices. The result was DELICIOUS, spicy tofu boritto. The only down side was that this boritto was very juicy. The juice absorbed into the wrap and made it very messy. It got to a point where I could no longer put it down and let go or it was going to give way. Don't forget to ask for a bowl to catch the yummies that fall off. Holy Guacamole, is this place BAD! I just don't get it. The crowds, the parking lot...I'd suggest they were giving away burritos or something, but, we all know the swanky Darien set can afford them some burritos, right? So here's the deal...tried it twice. First time, I feared the dreaded "gringo" treatment, and asked for my burrito to be drenched in hot sauce. What I got was a salty, not-so-spicy, chili-powered mess. I couldn't even taste the meat, which is probably a good thing based on my second experience here. It was pretty late, and as agency ilk is wont to do, half the office was still working on a VIP (very important pitch), so we decided to fax in an order. We FAXED the order. Just making that clear. I roll on down there, walk into this stark bright mess of a restaurant, filled with a bunch of screaming, texting, high-fiving Darien High Soccer players, and then wait...and wait...and wait some more, only to find out the reason no one was handing me food was because no one put my FAXED order in. So I waited some more while they scrambled to right this wrong. When they finally get their beans together, they pack the bag up, I make the grab, and zoom back to the office, only to find that two meals are MISSING (one of which was my boss's--EEK)! So it's back to the border for me, and I am now not only cranky as a cat in a bathtub, but hungry as all get out. Run in, scowl dramatically at staff, make grab #2, and head back to the office. Starving, tired and miserable, we all tear into our respective containers and wraps, and all is finally well in the world. Right? WRONG! Having opted for their chicken bowl, along with two other of my co-workers, we all seem to notice at the same time that what we ACTUALLY ordered was the Salmonella Special, as we simultaneously spat out half-cooked, unidentifiable and totally random pieces of chicken, along with giant globules of fat. If "farm to table" means you're not going to cook my food first, I'll stick with Sierra Grill. Sure, they're guilty of the previously mentioned "gringo treatment", but that's why God made jalapenos. read more

Went here for the first time tonight and ordered online. When I got to the restaurant I had to drive around a few times because there isn't a lot of parking until I saw a sign that pointed to additional parking at the gas station. I hesitantly found a spot at the gas station and headed over. The line was very long and there was no indication of if you can cut the line if you already ordered online. So I wouldn't cause a riot I waited my turn in line until I got up to the counter and told the man I had pre ordered. The order was actually just ready so the waiting in line actually helped my cause lol. I had ordered a salad which was very good. I had also ordered a side of guacamole which wasn't mixed very well and it was one big ball of avocado. Overall it was very good. They need to have a sign or a designated area for pick up orders so people don't have to wait. read more

I am a Chipotle addict. I go to this location quite a lot because of that. But I have to say that this particular branch is the worst of many that I have visited over the years. Mainly it is SLOW. In one of the Manhattan stores I've frequented, the line can be 3x as long as the Darien one, but will take less time to get through. If someone in front of you has tacos or multiple orders, heaven help you. The parking is often full up here, too, and the overflow at the gas station next door has been taken up with gas station related vehicles that are now there full time. This could all be surmounted if their internet ordering worked, but this branch's internet order is pathetic. Other Chipotles I've been to would have it done within 20 minutes. This one says an hour and a half - and they pull it out from a warmer, so you don't know when it was actually created. I think it was the Dayton, OH store that actually had a separate assembly line for the internet and group orders, thus not interrupting the walk-in line. That would be fantastic here, and I'd visit a LOT more if I knew I could skip the line, get fresh food, and not get in anyone's way. I still go back to this one, as it's the only one close, but I do get frustrated every time I go. The one exception is after work. The lines aren't so bad and the parking lot is not so full. But lunchtime is horrendous and it keeps me from going most of the time. read more

This Chipotle seems to be much slower than others I've been to. The line just isn't as efficient. In other Chipotles, whenever the staff is waiting for one step to be completed, they immediately ask the next customer what they want and begin processing the order. Here, everything is done in a much more serial fashion. If the person wrapping the burrito at the end is taking too long, the others just stand there waiting. Tiny parking lot and limited seating. Expensive. Luke-warm to cool food. People from Darien to deal with. There is no reason to go to Chipotle with Sierra Grill a mile down the road. A meal for two at Chipotle costs twice what it would from Sierra. Chipotle even charge you for tortilla chips and salsa. What a joke. I gave this place a couple of chances and won't be going back. Management needs to be fired, and/or hire people that know how to manage themselves. Decided to go before the dinner crowd, a little before 5 on a Friday, because we all know how ridiculous parking, and the line is, after 5pm. It was a total mess inside. I usually give a busy location benefit of doubt during peak hours, but you guys had from roughly 2pm (end of lunch crowd), until now to clean up. 3 hours! "NOPE!", must be the motto of the staff here. Most interesting, was when most of the staff seemed to be on break hanging out at the dirty tables, with the most amount of food debris under them. You think any one of them would have noticed, but nooooope!. LMAO at how bad it was. They must have had important texts to get back to, work is not the #1 priority obviously at this location. If things are this bad on the front end, just imagine what's going on behind the scenes. Stop hiring people with the work ethic of a spoiled trust fund 15 yr old brat, and maybe this place could get 5 stars. The food is there, but the staff is a joke. Hopefully you prove me wrong on my next visit. If not, there won't be any more visits, and your 3 stars will turn into 1. read more

It is true that the parking lot leaves something to be desired but I have been lucky so far to always find a spot. The service is a little slow but no too bad. I have not noticed any difference in quality of food in this chipotle compared to others. I really enjoy the food and it is fresh and good tasting. read more

I guess I'm too old (62) to get it. Mediocre food, a small step up from Taco Bell, no table service, limited menu. They obviously direct their marketing toward the young, green crowd by using buzz words: "fresh" "responsible" "sustainable". There are several reasonably priced Mexican joints run by real Mexicans in this area that blow this place away. read more

Second time I went they were out of both chicken and steak. 2 days later I went back and they were still out of chicken and steak. Highly disappointing restaurant. I am and have been a Chipotle evangelist going way back and still am, however the Darien restaurant is the worst I have visited. The staff is not friendly, not helpful and disorganized. This is based on over a dozen visits to this store. They regularly run out of meats and start making smaller and smaller portions. Whenever I ask for a bit more beans, fajita veggies or even salsa the staff seems put out and adds the bare minimum. I have eaten at Chipotle restaurants from Los Angeles to Denver to Minneapolis to Kansas City to New York and Darien is by far the most disappointing. read more

Food is good, if you can even get inside. The parking lot is TERRIBLE. Too small, not enough spaces, something needs to be done, you are losing customers. Lousy parking situation of all Chipotle. Food getting smaller and smaller portions at this chain. Not much rice at all.

Even if there is a long line, the staff is very quick so longest you would wait is 15 min. The food is always good and very reliable.

So so. Food was good. Staff was horrible, left a bad taste in my mouth. Unlike previous reviewers, our servers were English speaking natives, however they were either clueless or rude. Went with my daughters, we're vegetarians, ordered a veg burrito bowl, a veg burrito and veg hard shell tacos. First clueless line server asked us all if we wanted chicken...I said no, we ordered vegetarian. I asked if the pinto beans contained meat...he seemed totally confused, and finally after me repeating the question 3 times he said they contained bacon. Next server in line was plain rude...my girls thought she was extremely rude. She rushed us along, and we were not dawdling with telling them what we wanted on or order. She was impatient, and seemed like she was totally fed up with having to repeat to customers what the sides were and if they were spicy or not. Unfortunately I'm not sure if we'll go back again. I had high hopes for this place since it seemed like a good place for vegetarians. read more
