I love Chipotle but this location is horrible. We won't be back. We were there over Labor Day weekend and thankfully the place was not crowded, though there were still about 10 people in line. Seating here is horrible and impossible if you have kids that use highchairs since there is only one tiny table available where you can actually put a highchair (the others are stool height or have round ottomans attached the floor, meaning no room for highchairs). The staff couldn't manage to get our four person order right. Had to be repeated 3 times. The grapes we got for my kids were rotten and the kids cheese quesadilla was not heated (meaning cold cheese in a tortilla). When we approached the counter the manager was dismissive and rude. Told us nothing was wrong with the grapes and "they all look like that." Then gave us chips. Looked at our uncooked quesadilla and, without a word, threw it in the trash. Returned with a new one and asked "is this what you want?" like somehow asking for our food to be cooked is asking too much. If you like Chipotle, head to the one on the highway. This location has to be the worst- mobile orders are NEVER on time and always 30 minutes ready after the time slot selected on the app...the one time I decided to not do a mobile order and go in the physically to order in person, a worker came to the door and said ONLY mobile orders were being taken.. This location needs help. New staff or a different manager that can handle heavy foot traffic. Also they've been mixing fresh chips with stale chips, not worth what you pay for they should be free at that point. read more

Odered through the app for a delivery. When it came there was a bowl missing, a chips and guac missing, and a chips and queso missing. I called the store directly for help in retrieving my missing items. There was very little help offered. They did not help figure out how to get the missing items or offer a refund for the items we did not receive. There was no help in figuring out this issue. Walked into the restaurant and was instantly greeted by loud unedited hip hop music that spewed every profane word ie p@#sy, the b word and countless f bombs. Baffled, I still proceeded to place my order with a polite young man, who seemed out of place with the rest of the scene. The other employees either looked disgruntled and argued about who was reasonable for keeping up with the supply of chips or giggled and chatted about non work related matters while bobbing their heads to the misogynistic tunes that permeated the air. To top it all off, the food was mediocre at best. Not a good look, Chipotle. Poor management can ruin a good business. Horrible pickup system - having everyone stand way too close together and have been waiting for over a half hour for food to be ready. When I called to ask for an estimate on when it would be ready there was no answer. The food here is great. I mean... It's Chipotle. It's pretty consistent everywhere you go. What's not consistent is the horrible service you'll get here. Some of the staff is loud and obnoxious, while others are polite and helpful. I have a milk allergy, so when the guy behind the counter making my burrito dragged my food over cheese, I told him I needed him to make me a new one. His response was "preciosa" and an ugly smile. Keep in note that this is on a Saturday night at one of the more busier times... we placed a mobile order at 7:30 for pick up at 8. We were waiting for 40 minutes for our food and when we asked what the deal was one of the employees said that they hadn't sent it through yet. I understand that there would be an increase of mobile orders during Covid but 40 minutes with out putting an order thorough. It's absurd. Other than the large number of families with young kids that frequently dine in or the over crowded and extremely small parking lot. Chipotle in Darien still deserves this 4 star rating. I am definitely a fan of this chain. The food tastes deliciously fresh and the combinations that can be added onto a burrito make for a new experience and yet satisfies the craving for something familiar at the same time. I was driving on 95 late and I was very much needing a food stop. I was going to settle for McDonald's but instead I double-checked Chipotle's closing time. On Wednesday it said 11 PM. So, I pulled off the highway and arrived at 10:40 PM thinking I had plenty time. I saw two workers cleaning rapidly and I tried to open the doors but they were locked. I made eye contact with one of the workers and made a confused face, and he made a gesture at me saying that they were closed and I couldn't come in. I can't help but think these two workers locked the doors early to get their cleaning done even though the store was still supposed to be open for another 20 minutes . I was very annoyed and frustrated to have stopped off of the highway only to arrive 20 minutes before closing time and not be let in. Very disappointing! read more

My daughter is a big Chipotle fan, so we visit this location every so often as a treat for her, and we're familiar with a number of the other locations in the area (Westport, Greenwich, Riverside, Fairfield, Danbury, and many others). I can honestly say we have never had a great experience here, but unfortunately it happens to be the closest one to where we live. The parking is horrible, the service can be a little sloppy and apathetic, and the whole place just feels very messy. On our last visit about 2 weeks ago (late afternoon), they were out of just about everything! No steak, no chicken, no carnitas, etc... If you're a diehard Chipotle lover, you might be better off hopping on I-95 and visiting the one in Riverside, just off exit 5 in the Acme shopping center. read more

I really enjoy Chipotle burritos/bowls etc but this location is a complete mess. Most of the issues have been discussed, such as the very limited parking choices but I think there is more to this location which makes it subpar compared to other Chipotles. For me, it all comes down to how good the food is and how the customer service is. All Chipotles are busy during lunch hours with a line usually snaked around the restaurant and possibly out the door. This location is no different. Where this location differs is the customer service and the slow responses to demand during peak hours. I went today for a burrito and it took almost 30 minutes to have my burrito made and for me to pay and there was only 15 or so people in front of me. I honestly thought the people preparing the food took sleep medication during the day for how slow they were working. The workers seem distracted, bored and detached from their customers and don't pay attention to what you are trying to order. I don't know if this is a management problem or just a bad staff but it's pretty miserable to go here. read more

I love Chipotle. I am so glad I have one down the street now instead of having to trek into NYC or Rye Brook... but the Darien store definitely leaves something to be desired. If you can make it past the fiasco in the parking lot (forget it and just park at the gas station next door) get your food to go. There's not much seating...at all. You can't knock the friendly staff - they are pretty nice - but they are SLOW! Any other line of that length at another location would have you through in 5 minutes, but in the 3 times I've been to this store we've waited upwards of 20 minutes. Not exactly fast food. Or one complaint is how much the extras are for example the tortilla chips are about two dollars a bag and it's like can't you just give me some tortillas with my burrito for the love of all thats holy! Somewhat better than average for fast food but still fast food. Two tacos and a bottle of soda decidedly overpriced at $11+. Watching them take the tortillas out of a plastic wrapper, reheat them and fill them from bins of dry overcooked and cold meat did not help either. Oh. The price? I didn't bother to check quite frankly. But they may have charged me the full 3-taco meal price even though I only had two. They Also hit me with a two buck charge to add little dollops of Guacamole--if that was charged for each taco, that only adds to the price outrage. First off I have wanted to try this place since it opened. But parking is very difficult (there is clearly very limited parking) and was told its pricey. I finally managed to go, and given the tight and limited parking, luckily managed a spot - that was partially taken up by another car who thought it was ok to take two spots. Go in and there is a long line, and I see its set up as an assembly line....like ants we all slowly march in line until it is our turn. Now I told the girl that this was my first time and didn't know how it worked - clearly it was difficult for them to hear as the place was buzzing with people talking....so seeing that they have limited food and choices off I went...they don't give you much (I had a salad bowl) my bowl was filled half way with lettuce, then repeating myself a couple of times, attempting to ask questions and failing to get answers and not wanting to hold up the line I quickly made choices I wasn't sure of. I had placed an order of two items - the other for a friend who was paying.....I had the same issue with their order .....get to the check out, my now $7.25 salad bowl was a whopping 9.35 - why? because they charge you an outrageous amount for a little but of guac. 2.10!!! I could buy a couple of avocados for that! And of course the guy at the cashiering didn't even think I had two orders and only rang up one....doesn't anyone pick up more than one item? pay twice and leave. Backing out was an even bigger mess as people attempting to drive in were waiting at the entrance, and not only was I trying to back out but two more people....accidents waiting to happen. I get to my destination and open the container and begin to eat. I had chosen their mild salsa - and I can tell you it clearly wasn't mild. I couldn't even eat half my food. Then the after taste....there was something in the food that was just nasty - guessing from the z100 the day before they were taking about how cilantro tastes like soap....I then realized that the rice contained cilantro....so barely eating my expense half bowl of salad and toppings...(yes they seemed to have given me more rice than salad..) I will absolutely be calling up the company or sending them an email to tell them about my poor experience and how unsatisfied I was with the food. read more

I step into this Mexican Grill every few weeks and enjoy the food with my daughter before we go shopping at Trader Joe's. Last year I would've given it five stars but the last two times we stopped there we did not have a good experience. We ordered the steak salad bowl. We intentionally do not get anything that was too hot or spicy. Unfortunately, each time the steak was pretty hot because it must've been covered with spices that we were unaware of. It was very difficult to eat even though we each got extra sour cream. My daughter couldn't finish her meal which was a real hassle because we had already counted out the carbs since she has type one diabetes and she took the right amount of insulin to cover the carbs. So then she had to quickly drive to Trader Joe's to get a snack before her glucose level dropped, since we forgot to pack one. The guy at the next table was also complaining how spicy the steak was in his burrito. read more

This is a cool spot for pretty good Mexican. Certainly good compared to other fast food places. Having a choice of rice is great and can change the flavor of my regular choice (in a good way). I'm a big barbacoa fan. Burrito not a bowl. Service is nice and moves pretty fast. I wish the guac was bigger and better but its no big deal. The biggest turn-off is the parking.
