Really disappointing. I used to go to this Bareburger often a few years ago and it used to be good. Went today, though, and everything about it was bad, particularly the service. The waitress didn't know much about the menu or how to use the electronic ordering system. And after an extremely long wait, we had to get up to ask for our bill. We then waited again for a long time for someone to come get our credit card, but again, we had to get up and find a server to help us. The food was not nearly as good as it used to be. I had a smash burger, which was essentially a regular burger. Good burgers, but won't be back anytime soon. For a "burger joint" - - - a glass of red wine, for an okay brand of red wine, is absurdly and ridiculously expensive at $18 a glass. This is my second time ordering from this location and both orders have been wrong. I specifically asked for well done (and my husband for medium) and we both ended up with rare burgers. This was very upsetting and I am so disappointed that this has now happened both times. I'll start with the food was great. Loved building a burger...we did get our utensils after the food arrived but no big deal. BUT we went on trivia night. There was a group of us and it just worked out that was the night we all could meet. Didn't know it was trivia night until we walked up. No problem, we figured it would be in the bar. We were wrong. I ordered a veggie bowl which was pretty good except whatever they added to the beans did not taste good. I also ordered a burger without any grilling on the bun - it came out charred. Second burger was absolutely dry. I dined with friends, and one of their burgers was raw. Not a good day for Bareburger. And I'll add to what another patron here said - the restaurant was near empty and the service was a bit off - not just the food. Probably won't return. The food was very good and the bison burger jalepeno was FIRE our hostess with mostest was so kind and sweet. The ambience was chill. Yall. What a gem in Stamford. Incredible food at a reasonable price. They just re-did the menu and some of the items we had the first time going to bareburger are no longer available, BUT you can recreate whatever you want buy building your own burger! Secret hint. There are daily specials on the qr code available on the table. For $14.95, you get one of the listed burgers and fries. I got the Chix Chic (chicken sandwich with pickles, lettuce, tomato and aioli) and upgraded to truffle cheese fries. Delicious! Remember the 1980's Wendy's catchphrase "Where's the beef??" It certainly isn't at Bareburger. Shrink-flation has hits Bareburger. I recently stopped into this Stamford location of the burger chain for lunch and was pleased to eat outside in the recently redeveloped Harbor Point waterfront district. Bareburger distinguishes itself from other burger chains with organic and non-beef burger options, such as bison and elk. I have enjoyed the chain for years but am concerned by the product recently sampled at this Stamford location. I ordered the spicy Paul Bunion, a bison burger with habanero pepper cheese. My companion had the turkey burger. My meal was a bit undersized, but otherwise perfectly fine. My companion's turkey burger, however, was embarrassingly thin (see photo). It's as if they grilled a slice of deli turkey. Some corporate bean counter must have opted to reduce product size rather than increase prices to combat inflation. It was also ice cold. Fortunately, our server agreed that the product was a miserable joke and removed it from the bill. Bareburger will need to evaluation the direction of the chain. I came here for the first time last Saturday (7/20) with my family. They were visiting from out of town and we were looking for a special but affordable meal. What we experienced at Bareburger was one of the worst customer service experiences ever. - the 'closed' sign was left on the front door even though they were open - it took 20 mins for anyone to come over and offer us water on a hot humid day -it took another 10 mins for the waitress/hostess to take our order -we waited 45 mins for our food and when we finally got it everything was ice cold. The sweet potato fries were cold and dried out - like they were made a week ago. Biting into an ice cold burger is disgusting (AND the size of a single-patty burger is smaller than a Wendy's burger). - we complained to the waitress/hostess and she offered to re-order all our food and make sure it was hot. But we didn't want to wait another 20-40 mins. So we cut our losses and left. I don't know if someone called out and they were short-staffed but judging from other bad reviews, it seems disappointment is fairly common. All in all I would not recommend Bareburger, especially this location, to anyone. Do better, Bareburger! I work in customer service so maybe retraining your staff or doing quality control in the kitchen would help. Anything would be better after this abysmal experience! read more

We were sitting in a ton of traffic on the way back from NYC and were starving. I had my kid do some research and found this place so we headed over after calling to make sure they could accommodate food allergies. They were friendly on the phone and we had no issue getting a table outside. We ordered two sandwiches, fries for my child and chocolate milk. We didn't receive the milk until we followed up after getting our food and at that point were handed a milk box. My kid had to be forced to eat the burger, I was told it was mediocre at best. The chicken sandwich I ordered was part charred on one side but the other half wasn't. The vegetables I ordered on it were delicious and so was the honey mustard which is what warrants the higher stars. If you are in the area I wouldn't say to avoid but I'd say proceed with caution. We have waited over 30 minutes for food to come out in an EMPTY restaurant. This is a 2 minute walk for us and every single time we go, it is a bad experience. When visiting a friend, we went for a late lunch on a Saturday. This was my first visit to any Bareburger location so I wasn't too sure what to expect. We arrived to a mostly quiet restaurant and were given our choice of where to sit. Menus are contactless - get that camera ready for a QR code scan! After looking over the cocktai menu, I decided on the Elvis in Vegas. This drink was so pretty and tasted equally as good. Whiskey, banana liquor, and coco lopez came together for a milkshake/dessert cocktail. But milkshakes and burgers are the perfect pairing, am I right? I kept it simple for the main meal and ordered the Standard Burger. It was perfectly cooked - nice and juicy even though I ordered it medium-well. No sides come with the burger but I added a side of fries. The fries were listed as a shareable, but honestly the size felt like it would be a small share. Bare Burger's highs were limited to the quirky, but extremely fun imagery on the walls, of different types of cattle dressed to the nines. That, and the breading of the onion rings. Sadly, zero out of the items we ordered were without significant technical or flavor-related flaws. As the menu doesn't really have an appetizers section, we went straight for the burgers and sides. I ordered "The National" with a wagyu patty, cooked medium ($20). This comes with toppings of uncured bacon, sharp cheddar, pickled green tomato, and onions. My wife got the "Spicy Paul Bunyon" with a wagyu patty, cooked medium as well ($20), which comes with habanero pepper jack, pickled jalapeno, red onion, lettuce, and spicy mayo. None of the items come with sides, so we ordered a side of fries ($6) and onion rings ($7) for the table. Both burgers were extremely juicy (which is a given for wagyu beef) and credit is given for a perfect medium cook, which doesn't always happen. All the produce was clearly crisp, fresh, and of high quality, which is also quite refreshing. Bravo! But that's where the good marks end. Both burgers were, unfortunately, hideously bland, without an ounce of salt or seasoning to be found. My wife's burger did have the spice that was promised, BUT that was due to the bland patty being macerated in high spicy sauce, so hers was tasty in SPITE of the meat, not because of it. As for the sides, neither were executed properly either. The fries were perfectly crisp and had great texture, but again, were horrifically bland. The onion ring batter was actually the tastiest thing we had in the entire meal, but it was so thick, that the result was crispiness on the outside, pasty raw on the inside, and the onion itself was slightly undercooked. Disappointing, especially as the portions were not larger than an average side, yet still had to be ordered separately. Their vegan and gluten-free options are on-point and they have quality options for those who don't follow a special diet. The atmosphere was great with both indoor and outdoor seating and the staff is very accommodating. We were originally outside but moved inside when it got breezy. Our waitress made great recommendations and two other employees kept our drinks refilled and ensured we didn't wait too long for anything. I've been there twice in the last two weeks. i like my burgers rare and the first week it was excellent, one of the best burgers I've had in a while. Today, the waiter gave me a hard time and insisted that unless I paid for a more expensive burger, I couldn't get it cooked the way I wanted it. I told him I was going to have what I ordered and I'm sure, to make his point, he told the kitchen to make it medium rare to well done. I want to say I love Bareburger and have been a patron for years in NY, specifically the Hartsdale location they are awesome. Since moving to CT last year, I have given BareBurger at Stamford several chances and I just give up at this point. The last few times I have visited something is always off. This summer we waited for 20 minutes for service outside, in September of this year there were fruit flies in my paloma, and I had to keep waving my server over, and just last night our food order was also subpar. I ordered truffle fries that were hard and tasted like they were refried and the side of buttermilk fried chicken with my Cobb salad that looked and tasted like popcorn chicken from a fast food restaurant. Bareburger was on my radar as they're one of the few places in CT that offers the Impossible Burger. I've been dying to try it since I first heard about it, so Saturday afternoon on my way back from JFK, I decided to stop in for lunch. Bareburger is a cute restaurant - not a lot of tables, and not a lot going on in the area on the weekend. When I got there around noon it was almost empty, but had filled up by 1:00. I grabbed a seat at the bar - the bartender was very friendly and attentive. Got a menu and honed in on the Impossible Burger. I didn't want the vegan cheese option, so decided to build my own. It definitely gotat expensive, fast, especially with the $3.95 add on for the Impossible Burger. My burger alone priced out to $16.70 and then the addition of fries brought it over $20. That is insane! And they were pretty sparse with the toppings...two pickles...4 small pieces of caramelized onion...lame. The Impossible Burger - was nearly impossible to eat. It was disgusting. This is in no way Bareburger's fault - I just want to set the record straight for anyone who reads this. Yes, it looks like meat. No, it does not taste like meat. The texture is what I imagine dog food would feel like - mushy, but with some solid bits in it. It fell apart very easily, with pieces falling out of the edges of the bun. The taste is impossible to describe, but not at all appealing. Thank goodness for the sriracha mayo - it's the only thing that helped me choke the burger down. I wish I had been there with someone so that I could have tried their meat burgers. Then I'd be able to give more commentary regarding their ability to cook burgers. I don't blame them for me hating that fake soy leghemoglobin nonsense, I just blame them for charging me so much for it! The side of fries was also quite small for $4.25. They were fine but nothing special. Service was prompt and friendly. But the overwhelming feeling that I left with was that I was ripped off. With tip, my lunch came to $40. For one person. Yummy food. Most important thing is that you need to sit inside. The area has an invasion of moths from Asia that kill crops and like to land on people. Several of them landed on us during the first half of our meal and a few landed on the people near us. So although it is pretty outside, next time we will sit inside. The location in harbor point was nice. Street parking is difficult but there is a nearby free garage. I had the elk burger which was yummy and the fries were pretty good.
