The food is flavorful, the prices are exceptionally reasonable, and the staff is extraordinarily friendly. Chips and salsa are complimentary, and the portion sizes are bountiful. Unfortunately, this time I was quite disappointed. The selection of vegetarian dishes was very limited. I asked if it was possible to order a vegetarian burrito, but unfortunately that was not an option. Overall, though, the food itself was okay. The main disappointment was the service. We were served by a middle-aged man named Carlos, I believe (Order: A-3-A). He seemed very irritated and unhappy throughout our visit and never smiled. At one point, he brought my friend her coffee and placed it on the table so abruptly that about a third of the coffee spilled onto the saucer. He did not apologize or acknowledge what had happened. He was not openly rude to us, but we simply did not feel welcome as guests. His attitude made us feel as though serving us was an inconvenience or a favor rather than part of his job. I was especially uncomfortable because I had invited my friend there and had recommended the restaurant to her based on my previous experience. It is unfortunate that the attitude of one person can have such a significant impact on the overall impression of a restaurant. Based on this experience, we are unlikely to return, which is disappointing because I had really enjoyed my first visit. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously, because the food was fine, but good service and making guests feel welcome are just as important.

Food: First-time visit. We're new to the area and have…read moredriven past La Cabaña many times, so we decided it was finally time to stop in. As soon as we were seated, we were served a complimentary basket of chips and salsa. The chips were fresh and slightly warm. The salsa was good, although I personally prefer a chunkier style. To start, my wife ordered a Dos Equis, and I tried the house Paloma. It was an excellent cocktail, although at $12.48 it felt a little pricey. We also ordered the fresh guacamole, which was very good. It had a nice chunky texture and fresh flavor, although I think it could have used just a touch more salt. For our entrées, my wife ordered the Pastor Tacos, and I chose the Drunken Tacos, one each with shrimp, shredded beef, and chorizo. The Pastor Tacos were unfortunately the biggest disappointment of the meal. The pork was dry and lacked the juicy, well-marinated flavor I usually expect from al pastor. Adding some of the guacamole definitely helped. They came with double tortillas, but unlike many great al pastor tacos, there wasn't enough juice to justify them. My Drunken Tacos were a mixed bag. The shrimp and chorizo tacos were both excellent, with plenty of flavor. The shredded beef taco, however, was fairly bland by comparison. Each entrée came with generous portions of rice and beans. While everything was served hot, the presentation could have been better. Some of the food looked as though it had simply been dropped onto the plate. A little more attention to plating would have made the meal feel more polished. Service: We received a friendly greeting when we arrived and asked for a table on the patio. Our server, Shaylinne, took great care of us throughout the meal. She was friendly, attentive, and helpful with our order. The service was consistently excellent. Atmosphere: We spent our visit on the outdoor patio. There were plenty of tables, and it wasn't very busy. Even though the patio sits in the middle of a shopping center parking lot, it was surprisingly quiet and made for a pleasant place to enjoy dinner. There were a few families with young children nearby, but everyone was respectful, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Overall, La Cabaña is a good choice if you're looking for a traditional Mexican restaurant. Some dishes really stood out, while others were surprisingly bland or lacked attention to detail. I'm glad we stopped in, but based on this visit, it probably wouldn't be my first choice for Mexican food in the area.

I knew I was in for a treat when my friend from El Paso described Cocina Mi Familia as "legit."…read more This was a five star experience through and through. I ordered two carnitas tacos and one lengua taco all of which were on point! The meat was tender and flavorful with a green and a red hot sauce served on the side that added just the right amount of heat and a nice added boost of flavor. They were served with onion and cilantro true to the street taco experiences I grew up with in Tucson. The rice was fresh - none of those surprise "crispy" grains that signal rice that has either been sitting out or reheated. The refried beans were fantastic and also reminded me of home. Even the horchata was amazing. Although the food was a standout what struck me most was the cleanliness of the restaurant. Clean tables, floors, and bathrooms all signal that this restaurant cares about details. Even the hot sauce bottles (which I am used to seeing cakes with old drips and drops) were absolutely spotless. I truly believe that things like this matter and suggest that the kitchen is also in good shape. Tye menu was a bit large and could be somewhat overwhelming so much so that I didn't bother to read everything. Besides - I already knew what I wanted. Service was friendly, prompt, and accurate. This place is an absolute MUST for when I return to Sheboygan and it receives two enthusiastic thumbs up from both me and my friend from El Paso - and both of us are experts on good Mexican food.

Everyone enjoyed their meals and 5 out of 6 took food home. Their beverages were above average but not great. The service was very good. Our server was polite and respectful. They only have a small laminated menu at the table for drinks and no prices anywhere. I tried asking the server if there was a happy hour and it sounded like that's not something offered here. When I asked about the margaritas, I was told they started at $11 and beers were about $6 for pints and about $8 for 22 oz, so I ordered a 22oz Dos Equis (came out to $8.50). Unfortunately, it tasted off like the tap line was dirty. Our server was nice and friendly though. He was great. The menu prices differed with what they had online by about $2-3 for most of the dishes. Not a fan when they can't keep menus up to date. I opted for the street tacos which came out to $18.50. The pastor tacos were good though there was an odd bite or two of very chewy or tough pieces of pork. The rice and beans were not worth the calories. The chips and salsa were good and a sizeable portion but not enough to make up for the prices with everything else. You also find out at the end that they charge extra for using a card. You can pay in cash to get the extra amount taken off. The space had an overly sweet air freshener smell, almost like they're trying to cover something else up. Similar to other reviews, this place is okay but it's not worth the price point in my opinion.
