I wasn't impressed on our first two visits, ordered a burrito wrap and it was unimpressive for the price so I didn't feel the need to write a review. I really wanted to like this place more. They have ample parking outside and a large restaurant and bar inside. There's also a sizeable patio for outdoor seating. They only have a small laminated menu at the table for drinks and no prices anywhere. I tried asking the server if there was a happy hour and it sounded like that's not something offered here. When I asked about the margaritas, I was told they started at $11 and beers were about $6 for pints and about $8 for 22 oz, so I ordered a 22oz Dos Equis (came out to $8.50). Unfortunately, it tasted off like the tap line was dirty. Our server was nice and friendly though. He was great. The menu prices differed with what they had online by about $2-3 for most of the dishes. Not a fan when they can't keep menus up to date. I opted for the street tacos which came out to $18.50. The pastor tacos were good though there was an odd bite or two of very chewy or tough pieces of pork. The rice and beans were not worth the calories. The chips and salsa were good and a sizeable portion but not enough to make up for the prices with everything else. You also find out at the end that they charge extra for using a card. You can pay in cash to get the extra amount taken off. The space had an overly sweet air freshener smell, almost like they're trying to cover something else up. I really enjoyed my experience here and have gone back several times. The service is always excellent and quick, the food is wonderful. It's a huge menu with lots of variety. The portions are large and you get a lot for what you order! I highly recommend dining here for Mexican food. This was our third visit. It took a very very long time to get someone to bring drinks then again to come to take our order. We had our chips completely eaten by that time. Like 25-30 minutes just to order food. Ordered a child taco and burrito but they brought an enchilada by mistake. Refills on some drinks were free and others we were charged for even though drinks were only partially gone. Steak was very grisly and easily consisted of more fat than meat. It was also ordered medium but came well done. No one asked how the food was, so there was no one to tell. Tortillas in foil were a bit cold and hard. The food is tasty so that's why the review isn't lower. Booths are not bolted down so if you try to get up, they can move and slide around. We will try another day and maybe ask more detailed questions before paying $4 for 4 ounces of liquid. read more

My family and I were devastated when La Chimenea in Germantown closed in 2018 and were not impressed the one time we ate at Matteo's after it opened in 2022, so we were looking forward to trying Sol-Agave after it opened in summer 2024. I got a chicken and shrimp burrito, my wife got a cheese quesadilla, one kid got taquitos, and the other kid got a cheeseburger. My wife thought her quesadilla was fine, but nothing special. Unlike me, she liked the rice (I thought it had an odd flavor). The kid that got taquitos didn't like them and I thought the bite I tried was super bland. The kid with the cheeseburger ate it without complaints. My wife didn't like the chips we were given, but the kids and I did (I thought they were fantastic). In my large burrito there were only four shrimp (although they were big ones) and the rest of the filling was chunks of fajita chicken instead of shredded chicken like I guess I was expecting given my limited experience with chicken in burritos at non-fast food Mexican restaurants. The chicken had some marinade/seasoning, but not enough in my opinion. The cheese sauce on top of the burrito was ok. Our search for a Mexican restaurant to replace La Chimenea continues. Like Matteo's, Sol-Agave isn't the answer. read more

First time trying Sol Agave in Germantown. We ordered the margaritas on the rocks - medium size and they were huge and came in a big goblet! Very tasty! Chips and salsa is provided at the table and refills are available. The chips were authentic and the salsa was so good with a nice amount of kick. I ordered the fajitas Acapulco and it included shrimp, scallops and chicken with plenty of onions and peppers. The shrimp were nice sized and the dish was fantastic. Overall the ambience was very nice and not too loud for a Saturday night. The service was outstanding and they kept our drinks always full and the chips and salsa coming. Mexican food is my favorite and I would eat it every day if I could. I have eaten many places but this place isn't it. The best thing about my meal was my spicy margarita. It had a cute little umbrella in it. My tacos al pastor were very fatty. I didn't eat most of the meat. My friend had the steak tacos and he said they tasted like the meat was overcooked. Our server only came over once to check on us before we even took bites and never came back. It has potential but needs to work on their food. read more

Came back for lunch, excellent service, absolute love the salsa here, and tried the guac for the first time and it was very good. This place is great, you get a lot of bang for your buck with great service and very solid Mexican food for this area. Have been here multiple times and always left very full with good food. Came here during daughter's soccer practice around 5ish on a week night. Very fast service even as the restaurant started to get more customers. The food services were enormous and have left overs for lunch. Love the ambiance and colors...it's cool and trendy. Every time I go with family they mess up someones order somehow. this time around they forgot the cheese sauce in the food which made it taste almost bland. I ordered for the first time today. My husband picked up as I had a dental appt and was in pain. I ordered a cheese and enchilada pick your own combination. In the app you scroll down, and I picked enchilada, scrolled down and picked cheese. Period. In the special instructions i put cheese and onion enchiladas as onion wasn't an option. What I received- spicy ground beef in a tortilla and nothing else. Not sure how they could screw this up. It was pretty specific! And (of course) I am super sensitive to spice, so the only way I could eat it was by adding a ton of sour cream and cheese to even be able to eat it. My husband and I went there for dinner and were seated right away, although the restaurant was pretty full by the time we left. Chips and salsa were brought to the table and drink orders were taken. They have a full bar, but did not try the margaritas during this visit. The chips were warm and the salsa was good. The menu is large and there were so many things on it that sounded good it took some time to decide. I finally decided on the carnitas chimichangas. I've never had such good carnitas, now I understand what the hype is about. My husband had the burrito fajita which he said was excellent. Decided to try this new Mexican restaurant in town. The food was good (the salsa was very mild). The drinks were good (seemed weak, but had a sneak-attack effect). The service was good (Spanish speaking server, but mostly understood my lame attempts at Spanglish). The ambience was cute. There was an error on our bill (being charged for large drinks rather than medium), but When brought to their attention, they did fix it. Some of the menu items were more "authentic Mexican" than others. But, living in an area where the majority don't like super spicy, the Americanized dishes also look tasty.
