So my temper was rising by the time I got my order and all I could think was that this food better be amazing. Wings are pretty standard and this place should have had some form of a special sauce to reflect what they do. And the YOYO sauce is not the answer. Chicken tenders had good flavor and nothing was greasy, but the chicken was tough and way overcooked. Their YOYO sauce is good, but tastes like BIG MAC sauce to me. The burger was nicely cooked, looked like they make their own patties...but was nothing special. What WAS really good was the grilled chicken over the rice. Really enjoyed their rice. But the chicken, tasty as it was, was also overcooked. I don't know if they had new people in the kitchen, but they seemed overwhelmed...and it was not busy. My hope is that they solve their problem with the air-conditioning and get rid of the flies, figure out how to deliver food in a reasonable amount of time and stop overcooking their proteins. Warm chips in a paper bag tasted homemade, and the "small" order of guac I ordered was actually a huge portion and ultra creamy. The chicken burrito was packed with fresh ingredients (although I would have liked more chicken); the $2.00 surcharge for adding hefty avocado slices was well worth it. Soft tacos wrapped in corn tortillas made with large seared shrimp were delicious. I liked that they didn't use too much cojita cheese in the tacos, but plenty of healthy avo. I didn't much care for the spicing of my marinated steak taco, but my partner loved it so no accounting for tastes :) Each item comes with a choice of two sauces so I tried them all. The pico and green sauce were my personal faves, I used them liberally to spice things up. Ordering directly from Homemade Taqueria's website is the most cost effective method, and they offer loyalty points as well. Can't wait to try some different items next time!
