Filling food, quick service, what more could you want at Chipotle? I've been to this location twice and both times were solid visits. It's a smaller restaurant that was neither the cleanest nor dirtiest on both occasions, and though the employees weren't exactly full of smiles, they were by no means rude. If nothing else, they're quick on the food line and helpful if you have questions. The food is always fresh and hot, and they never skimp on the serving size. This last time I ordered a Chicken Burrito Bowl with White Rice, Black Beans, Queso, Sour Cream, and Cheese. They prepared my order with enough of each ingredient so that I didn't feel like I was lacking for any one particular thing. The Chicken wasn't too fatty but was still pretty moist, the Rice was soft and fluffy, and the Beans weren't over or undercooked. The Sour Cream, Queso, and shredded Cheese made for excellent creamy toppings. The Burrito Bowl as a whole made for an excellent and satisfying hearty meal that was absolutely packed with protein. I feel like Chipotle's is kind of like Taco Bell but much better. You can almost always guarantee a tasty meal when you go here. They carefully create menu items that will appeal to the masses. This particular store has a lot of mediocre reviews, probably because it's right in the middle of San Antonio, but you know what? It's not bad. YES they run out of items, YES the employees attitudes are ok, nothing great. They are stingy with the protein and they should improve on that. But this place gets the job done. I'm so happy there's a Chipotle right off the River Walk, where I usually stay when I'm in San Antonio. Reason being, all the food I've ever had on the River Walk is overpriced garbage. The food at this location is tasty but I felt like they were a little stingy with their protein and guacamole portions. The employees weren't especially nice but not rude either but very efficient when pumping out burritos and bowls. However I will say this location seemed a little disheveled and messy and it didn't seem super busy to warrant that. The end result are good tasting beef burritos. The supervisor is hands on because though directing the staff she seemed to be getting less than expected results such as topping bins going empty. After waiting I received my cup to get my drink and there is no watermelon drink. My son ask when will they be filling and was told they were too busy....but when they had no one to serve they still didn't replace the empty container. If Chipotle doesn't change direction they're going to be out of business soon. There once was a time when I could walk into a Chipotle and get a burrito that looked like a chimichanga, and today I had to cancel my order because I was "not" going to pay $20 for a portion "that" small. I don't care what financials, what profit margins, what budget projections are going on in their higher up meetings. First principles. Chipotle was the place a person could go and pay $15 for 2,000 "cleanish" calorie burrito. This was WHY people ate here it's what made Chipotle my favorite fast food restaurant since I was in highschool. For the first time in my life I had to shake my head, cancel my order and walk out because for that same 20 dollars they charged me I can go to a store and buy enough rice and beans to feed myself for a week. To whoever's job it is to read them, "if" you "genuinely" and "sincerely" care about the company you work for, then you need to make it crystal freaking clear to the people making the decisions that if the practice of skimping the portion sizes continues then the company won't be around. Monetary forecasts mean absolute jack when people refuse to pay for your product. Until this day never have I ever been to a place getting food and just thought f*** this I'm out. I've had it with Chipotle.. I used to like this location until they started doing what other locations are doing. That's if you order online they put very little meat in your order. Ever since I discovered Chipotle I have been a regular. I love Chipotle! I travel across the country every week for work and I get to sample Chipotle restaurants everywhere. This location did me right. The staff was pleasant and helpful. I ended up with a decent order; however, they were nearly out of vegetables and I got the very last of the brown rice. It was 2:pm in the afternoon here by the San Antonio river walk and there was only one other customer in the restaurant. The place was dead and choices were limited. This was my first (and maybe last) time ordering from this location. When I arrived to pickup my order there was literally nowhere to park. The whole curbside in front of this location was stacked with horse carriages that were easily spaced out enough where they could move up the street towards the Alamo freeing up space for customers trying to pickup curbsides. Why no manager in this restaurant is doing anything about that is beyond me because it creates an awful experience for anyone that's not on a bike or on foot and there's a lot less traffic on this cross-street than trying to park on Alamo St than E Commerce street which would be safer. Beyond that, I had a pretty simple order which they managed to make incorrectly. And while it may not seem like a big deal to them, in today's world of allergies and dietary restrictions, simple mistakes can have dire consequences.
