Yes, I understand that it is nearly closing time, 9:50 pm on a Friday night, and the staff wants to leave. But this location was a disorganized mess tonight. There is a line of at least seven people, and one of the employees comes out from the back carrying her things, grabs a burrito bowl for herself and interrupts to begin scooping rice. After three large scoops, she moves to the meat and takes a double portion, then sticks her bare hand in the cheese and takes a full fist before finishing off her burrito and just walking out. Come time to make my fiancé's and my own, the guy making our food says that he can't give us any more cheese than the (literal sprinkle) because there are other people in line. They were being stingy with the rice too. They were also out of chips and guacamole, which they did politely inform us when we came in. So why are they giving away free food to an employee when they have paying customers? Then it gets worse. The next lady behind us was in to pick up an online order that she already paid for. The girl at the register gives the lady my bowl, then has to subsequently chase her down outside to retrieve it. They return and inform the lady that because they ran out of guac, they did not make her burrito. The customer was nice and asked to have the guac taken off of her bill. The cashier said they can NOT do that. So then the lady asks for a refund, which the cashier also replies they cannot do. So they offer to make her a burrito, that would be bottom of the barrel meat, no rice, no guac, no fajitas and no cheese. No real solution was attempted here. By far the worst Chipotle I have ever been in. The place was filthy, almost call the health department filthy. The bathrooms were a disaster, the finishing room was disgusting. So, they're running a promotion of buy 1 get 1. I go in at 4:30, on the only day of the promotion. They aren't busy in the restaurant, but there was a wait while they were filling online orders. I order a steak bowl and a carnitas bowl. I'm told that they're out of carnitas. i turn around and left and asked the girl at the register, "how can you be out of carnitas"??? I called the restaurant and asked for the manager. I told him that I had just left, because his restaurant was out of carnitas, during the big BOGO promotion. This is the closest chipotle to my home so I try it all the time because I usually love chipotle. Every time I go I become more annoyed. They are always out of multiple items. They just opened and are out of chips and queso for the day. They are frequently out of items. The last couple times I have been here I have not been able to get a drink, queso, chips or the new steak. I even payed for chips and queso online last week but they were out. They argued with me regarding my refund for the chips that I did not receive. Hands down worst chipotle. read more

Would go to negative stars if I could. We placed a catering order for almost $500. When it arrived, the driver just shoved 2 boxes at my boss and took off again. When we opened the boxes, we realized that more than half our order was missing. Then it took me an hour and a half to find someone to complain to! The number on the order confirmation didn't work, calling the store got me an automated voice system. When they finally connected me to the store, the phone rang for 10 minutes. No one ever answered. I tried the link in the confirmation to report an issue, got it all filled out, and then was unable to submit it. Tried the online chat feature - automated again - and then when they asked for an order number, they kept telling me that the order number on my confirmation was no good. I finally Googled "How do I complain about Chipotle?" and came up with a number that worked. The gentleman on the phone was nice, but after my full rant told me that Customer Service and Catering are separate and he couldn't help me. He sent my email on to Catering. Bottom line result? They refunded only 10% of the purchase price, with no explanation and no response when I asked. Worst catering experience ever!!! This Chipotle is very hit or miss and lately I've been having mostly misses. And my experience today was pretty bad. Granted, it was pretty busy, but nothing a seasoned Chipotle shouldn't be able to handle (ever been to a Chipotle in the loop during lunch rush?) Anyway, I waited in line for about 10 minutes, and when I got up there they were out of carnitas, so I ended up with chicken and my husband tried the new carne asada. Fine. Then I ordered guac on each of our meals as well as a large chips and guac (so like $8 of guac) it looked a little chunky, but I decided to get it anyway (more on that..) I paid and went to the drink fountain, where I found everything to be filthy, Coke was totally out of syrup and there were no forks left. I got root beer, and took my items home. Upon opening our food we found the rice was undercooked and the guac was not just a little chunky, but barely even mashed at all, avocados were barely ripe and it did not taste good. I had almost a half of an avocado in mine (see photo). If this was the first bad experience I had here, I'd say it was a fluke, but unfortunately that isn't the case. read more

Disappointed with this location. Generally I love Chipotle. I ordered from this location several times through Uber eats. Multiple times they forget something in my order. Yesterday I ordered tortilla chips with salsa and guac. They remembered the salsa and guac but no tortilla chips (my receipt states I ordered it as well). I did give feedback to Uber eats about this but it's not their fault. Chipotle staff should be re-verifying that all the items are completed before they package it up. Also sometime their portions are way less than the usual (meat bowls), usually other locations are generous and fill it to the top but not this one. I feel like the workers there are not really mentally there, they can do so much better! Management needs to look into this because judging for the previous bad reviews. The South Elgin location is a joke. Placed an online order for pick up at 6:30pm. Arrived at 6:30 to find 18 PEOPLE waiting for their online orders with another 12 in line to order at the counter. People waiting had pick up times ranging from 6-6:30. Most received their orders 25-45 minutes AFTER their pick up time. Meanwhile the walk-in customers were in and out - while online customers waited and waited. Counter orders should have been halted until online was caught up. How is it fair to make someone who ordered AND PAID wait but walk in the door and you're taken care of immediately?! I will NEVER order from this location again. 4/2021 Stopped in today with our grandkids. Food was plentiful and tasty. Service was kind and as expected. Nothing out of the ordinary. Did not like the arrangement for the tables for social distancing. But they were doing what they think is right. No big deal. Our grandson, the football player, really liked his Burrito. It was the size of a football!!! He enjoyed it immensely. Our granddaughter had a smaller one, but she enjoyed it none the less. My wife and I each got a bowl and took half home. Staff here truly listens to you... And will make you what you want and any size you want. My son is 6'4" 260+ lbs and they completely accommodate his requests for extra rice and meat (meat has addition charge of course) and whatever else. Food is seasoned very well and we've never had any issues at this location... we'll even drive here before going to Geneva's (where they have yet to pay attention and always need to be asked 2,3 even 4 times for things or have to remake something when they use the wrong salsa). South Elgin's location has a friendly team who gets it right, clean location and tasty food. Five stars for a fast food joint in our book. read more

The food always taste great wherever you go but at this South Elgin location, I have never experienced such lack of food! When I walked in the door the line was pretty long and the line wasn't moving very much. 15 min later I finally was able to order a veggie burrito bowl to dine in. I asked for brown rice and both beans which I was barely served a scoop of each and a very small amount of fajitas. Ok so this bowl has no meat so please take into consideration how some people need to consume more veggies to fill up. I asked for corn and green salsa and after that the bowl was closed and sealed. Like hello? I'm dining there and they didn't even top my bowl off with guacamole! I just wanted to leave now so I asked what happened to the guacamole? So she put a small container of it on the side no apology-and I took out the bowl while staring down at the bowl it honestly looked like I was being ripped off. I told her this bowl looks so small and feels very light. She asked me if I wanted more rice which I declined because there was more rice than veggies. Pass on this Chipotle at this location. I love chipotle and my friend and I decided to go right after school at around 3:15. I ordered online so that I could just pick up my food when I got there. It said the promised time would be 3:30. 3:30 came around and my food wasn't there I go up to the register and my order wasn't even printed out I don't know whose fault this was but it was pretty inconvenient because we waited for my food for sometime. The person at the register said they would start making it and like 10 minutes later they brought me my food. I like the food when I am out of ideas on what else to eat. BUT Sometimes the food seems dry and stale like it has sat all day and not fresh. They seem to also stingy on portions, bowls not full like they should be with nearly every topping. Also, they have gotten 2 delivery orders incorrect (both times we were missing items in the kids meal). They did try to remedy the problem and said we could pick up the missed items, great but that's defeating me having a delivery person come to my house in the first place, so they instead gave a partial refund. read more
