Found myself way down Randall Road and in the mood for pollo rostizado but given that it was close to 8pm I knew the likelihood of that happening was very low if I headed back home so I did a quick search and found that Elgin had their own (original?) Casa del Pollo Asado that stays open until 9pm. I took that as a good sign and headed that way. The restaurant is pretty big with a good amount of tables and booths. It's counter service with self-serve fountain drinks and salsas. They also have beer for sale. I originally was just going to order an 8 pc of only chicken but since I had driven out I decided to make it worth my while and get the 12 pc meal. They were unfortunately out of corn as a side so I got mashed potatoes and beans. They have big TVs in one section of the dining area and a World Cup match was on. My order was ready in about 5 minutes and I'm happy to say that the roasted chicken was still steaming hot and delicious when I got it all the way back home. The salsas are all very good although I didn't get any pico de gallo because it looked pretty soggy. The beans are good and the fries are fine but the mashed potatoes and gravy could use some revamping. Also, I felt like I we didn't get very many grilled onions or chiles with our order. Those things in combination with the slightly high price is what make me not so confident I'll make the trek back to this Casa del Pollo Asado soon. read more

Quaint authentic Mexican restaurant in Elgin. I was recommended this place for the mexican style rotisserie chicken. What we ordered: * 8 piece chicken with onions and jalapeños * Mac and cheese * beans * extra jalapeños * chips and salsa The chicken was phenomenal! Perfectly seasoned and cooked, it came with corn tortillas. The beans were deliciously flavorful. Chips were served warm and we chose from an à la cart of 6 different salsas. Some of the salsas definitely had some heat. The restaurant was clean, service was friendly. The only con was the plastic forks that were super flimsy. We ordered the three taco dinner and carried out .The steak tacos were piping hot and loaded with tasty steak onion and cilantro. We were given two plastic cups for hot sauce station.There was a side of beans and a very generous side of rice. The Tacos were outstanding. read more

El sabado13 de abril yo ordené 1pollo y mitad de otro con 3 sides , al llegar a mi casa me doy cuenta que mis sides no son lo que yo ordené , prosigo a revisar el pollo y me doy cuenta que está incompleto , me falta medio pollo , llamo por tel , me dicen que me van a dar crédito por medio pollo y mis sides ,hoy domingo 14 llego al lugar con la intención de recoger mi crédito y ordenar un pollo más ! First time coming here I order and family 12 piece meal with rice beans and corn the where out of Mac and cheese. I also ordered a torta cubana. The taste of the chicken and sides is amazing. I highly recommend this chicken and side are great. The torta cubana is very good as well and it comes with two sides. I ate at the location but not a fan of the inside. My girlfriend's sister brought takeout from La Casa del Pollo Asado for dinner one night, and we were stuffed and satisfied. She brought us LCdPA again, and we were hooked! The chicken is absolutely delicious and juicy, and the sides are also very good. They serve their chicken in four sizes: 1 1/2, whole, half, or quarter. You can get either the grilled chicken (asado) or the BBQ (en salsa barbeque). We've gotten the grilled chicken, which is bursting with flavor (especially since the skin is left on) and is accented well by the grilled green onions and jalapenos that come with. I recommend picking up a "Family Order." That comes with either 1 grilled or BBQ chicken, which is cut up into 8 pieces or 1 1/2 grilled or BBQ chicken, which is cut up into 12 pieces, plus your choice of three sides. The beans are excellent, although they are not what you might think of when you think of Mexican-style beans. These beans come with more broth and have pieces of bacon floating around in all that brothy goodness. I don't even like beans, and I found myself gobbling these up. We also get the rice and the chips / guacamole, which are both very good. There's also a salsa station where you can pick from an array of sauces. The prices are very reasonable and the food is great. For $15-$20, you get a delicious, well-balanced and fairly large meal. You can't beat that! So skip that KFC or Popeye's family meal and head over to La Casa del Pollo Asado! (I understand that LCdPA and KFC / Popeye's serve different kinds of chicken, but with the family meals you're essentially getting the same thing: chicken + sides). read more

Gave La Casa del Pollo Asado 4 stars (Yay! I'm a fan.) because of their chicken. It is delicious. It is moist. Wish the skin was a bit crisp though. The place is spacious. Almost too spacious (could've used the space wisely or could've been in a smaller place). Food's good. No problem there. Problem was, when we went, the restaurant is poorly ventilated. We smelled like we worked in their kitchen to make our meal before dining! Hopefully, the ventilation/exhaust issue's remedied for the next visit of current and future customers. I'd love to visit again to dine in or for take out. However, if the ventilation/exhaust issue is still an issue. I'll refrain from visiting for now. read more
