Just wanted to add an update. We were on vacation in Waikiki again and, I brought my wife back to this office for the first time in several years. This is by far the best chiropractic office she has been too. Her hip and knee pain still exists and, is worse as she is on her feet all day due to her job but, she was still able to get relief and, Dr Toyooka was able to help. She does need longer term care. If we were in this area, I would definitely be visiting this office on a regular basis. Thank you for everything. We will be back when we visit Oahu again. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Chris at Piianaia Ohana Chiropractic for over a year now, and it's absolutely a 5-star experience every time. Chris is an excellent chiropractor -- he takes the time to ask the right questions, really gets to know you, and always explains the "why" behind his treatments. I always leave feeling 100% better after every visit. Most recently, I tried shockwave therapy on my knees. I was initially skeptical, especially because of how expensive it was quoted elsewhere. But Dr. Chris thoroughly explained the procedure, what to expect, and the pricing -- which ended up being very reasonable. After just one session, I noticed a slight improvement in pain and movement. He recommended a few more sessions, and after completing them, I was nearly pain-free and able to run again. Truly life-changing! The office is located above Times in Kaimuki, so there's plenty of parking. The office itself is small, but I actually prefer that -- it feels more personal. I had been looking for a good chiropractor since my former one retired. Its been a challenge to find someone who would prioritize my health and well being rather than an office that only cared about billing as PT and doing unnecessary X-rays to make the max amount of money. Ive found exactly what I've been looking for here! Dr.Anna takes the time to make sure I'm in good condition from head to toe at every visit, any ache or pain is addressed and attended to with excellent care. Mona is always friendly and patient when I'm trying to schedule amidst my hectic schedule and the chiropractic care definitely wouldn't be complete without Sumiko, one of the office's best massage therapists. As far as COVID safety precautions are concerned, this office is top notch. Thermal scanning when you walk in, mandatory hand sanitizing, chairs blocked off for social distancing/being asked to wait outside or in your car if area is too full, and everyone one masked up properly makes me feel safe. read more

After landing in Hawaii, I awoke the next morning with a dull backache. It progressed to debilitating pain over the course of the next 8 hrs, such that I was barely moving, icing, and could not sleep. I got a referral to Dr Chris, who was able to see me the same day I called. Some stretching, ice, and information (that I was not dealing with a pinched nerve or slipped disc) helped put me at ease. I have seen one chiropractor during my 7 years in Hawaii- and it wasn't Dr Toyooka- so I was obviously worried when switching providers! However, I gave Dr Toyooka a try since he was conveniently close to me and was a chiropractor that partnered with people who do body work- specifically, massage. I really wanted to find a provider that worked with a masseuse. Dr T was really honest and told me about the method he uses: the Activator- which is this gun type tool that sounds like a stapler but doesn't hurt. It moves the bone millimeters at a time. This is a minor adjustment (lots of them per visit!) that lead to less pain and discomfort. He also told me there was another chiropractor in his office who used a more traditional chiropractic method and I could also work with him if I felt more comfortable. It was a great start- I felt comfortable and not like I was making a blind commitment to a new doctor. On my first visit, he just used the activator and my pain in my lower back and hips decreased significantly the next week. The next week I saw the massage therapist first and she was great. It prepped my body for chiropractic work and helped with relaxation and relive tension throughout my body. Then I got to see Dr T again and he used the activator on areas that needed it. And all with only a $25 co-pay. I am really happy with the services provided by this chiropractor so far! read more

I've been meaning to write a review every time I leave this place because Dr. Anna is always so personable and nice but let me tell you, Kirt is the most amazing therapist I have ever encountered! I've been to many many different places over the years and Kirt's work is not only exceptional but life changing! I know it sounds like I'm exaggerating but I'm not. I pleaded with my primary care doc at the VA to send me to a chiropractor, since physical therapy was only making my neck pain worse! She would only consider someone like Michael Toyooka, because of his gentle technique. In truth, Dr Mike can fix many sources of pain and mobility problems, not just neck and back. I waited too long between appointments and my back and neck had really started to hurt (especially due to bad ergonomics working at home). I have been treated by Dr. Michael Toyooka for off and on for about 2 years. Recently, I wrenched my back and went t see him. He treated me with an "Activator" device on my back which does not look very powerful but I walked out of his office with less pain. As the day progressed and before I could notice, my aches and pains disappeared. It was so nice not to feel the pain anymore. I have been pain free since seeing him.
