I didn't like it though...I got a gritty texture on my tongue from the crust. I associate this texture with Dunkin Donuts, as the same thing happens there. I believe this could be from using commercial lard with BHT preservative or maybe palm oil? I do know that when I bake with butter or lard from a local pig, this doesn't happen, and when I buy commercial frozen pie crust and avoid these ingredients, I don't get that texture. Either way it's a taste/texture all too common in commercial baking, and I loathe it. I also could personally do with a little less sugar in the fruit filling. Again, I feel like if you are used to most commercial sweets and that doesn't bother you, this is a a great little treat and looks like a small business, always good to support.

So I scrolled bakeries on Yelp and saw photos of Borrelli's shelves with cakes available for sale. Perfect! I hopped in the car and Wow, do they have a lot of cakes for sale! There are several display cases with cupcakes, pastry, donuts, cakes, calzones, spinach pies, breads. So much deliciousness. The person I was buying a birthday cake for does not particularly like cake so I wasn't quite sure what to get. They do sell the large frosted cookies, but I wasn't sure that was quite right. Then I saw it. Tiramisu! A great big round Tiramisu cake! Yes! We stuck some candles in there, sang happy birthday and cut it along the lady fingers around the edge. A 'two finger' slice or a 'one finger' slice made serving easy. And OMG, this is SO. Good! Creamy, coffee tiramisu cream with layers of lady fingers in between. Not too sweet, lots of coffee flavor. We easily got 12 servings and everyone loved it. Even the non-cake eating birthday recipient. Yay! There is no price list posted in the shop so I ask for the price of the item I was interested in. Credit card sales have a small transaction fee added (one dollar for my order) or use cash to avoid the fee. The entrance does not appear to be wheelchair accessible. Not sure if they have a different entrance? But there is a curb between the parking lot and the door. Just fyi. There were three staff members out front when we arrived to assist customers. Two were working with another customer and I spent a good deal of time checking out all the display cases and talking with my husband. No one interrupted my perusal. When I looked up to ask a question a young woman made eye contact and assisted me with my purchase. Very pleasant to speak with and she quickly boxed up my cake and wrapped it with twine. All together an excellent experience.

It was made out of a buttercream frosting and funfetti cake - a perfect mix. It was a small cake but thick and tall. Cost about $80. They didn't have black ribbon so I added ribbon afterwards myself - fun tip. I wish the heart shape of the cake was more pronounced. The shape looked very circular and the frosting was off white, more light yellow looking (hard to tell in the pic cause I edited the color of the picture) the cake was delicious though so made up for this. The bakery is in a busy area of East Greenwich on Main Street. You can find street parking but be sure to go early if picking up during prime time.
