I ended up grabbing a box of goodies and I was shocked at how reasonably priced she was. Upon arriving home I immediately tried the English Bakewell tart. It was lovely, I can best describe the taste as a cake on top with a buttery crust on the bottom. The shortbread is really good too, a buttery crumbly bite which is her mother's recipe. I wasn't sure which cake to pick because they all looked delicious. and her creative artistry seemed impeccable, but I know we didn't have time for that, but I'm keeping that in mind for other occasions in the future Note that this is a small business owner getting her feet firmly planted on the ground, has an interesting story and one that we should all be supporting. She is local in West Hartford, and while has an incorporated business still bakes out of her home, which is great, because this cake was full of love. Now back to the cake. This was amazing. it was layered with a confetti cake and layers of cheesecake. Yes, cheesecake! There's also a thin layer of fresh strawberry jam. I picked it up on Saturday didn't get to eat it until Sunday night and it was tremendous..highly recommend leaving it out for a while so that it gets room temperature and all the flavors meld together. My sister and I and our two little cousins under the age of 10 went to Dusty's for a sweet treat…read moreand some ice cream. The place said that they opened at 12 o'clock and we saw two members of the staff walking in and out repeatedly without acknowledging us or letting us know that they would not be opening at 12. We sat outside for 30 minutes or so, without being acknowledged once; and the lady was very awkwardly just looking at us. The door was unlocked, but the place was completely closed with the lights off and nobody seemed welcoming or friendly. I will say the ice cream here is solid, but the customer service is horrible.
