I celebrated a promotion with a friend and chose Silver Spoon Bakery to make the cake! The cake was absolutely delicious. It was made out of a buttercream frosting and funfetti cake - a perfect mix. It was a small cake but thick and tall. Cost about $80. They didn't have black ribbon so I added ribbon afterwards myself - fun tip. I wish the heart shape of the cake was more pronounced. The shape looked very circular and the frosting was off white, more light yellow looking (hard to tell in the pic cause I edited the color of the picture) the cake was delicious though so made up for this. The bakery is in a busy area of East Greenwich on Main Street. You can find street parking but be sure to go early if picking up during prime time. read more

What a gem!! My husband ordered my birthday cake from here (chocolate/hazelnut) and we all really enjoyed it. They used swiss buttercream on the cake which I love compared to American buttercream. I also recently went in to pick up some cupcakes. I felt like the price was very reasonable and they had a great selection. My favorite of the ones I tried was their chocolate peanut butter, the cake was moist and the frosting was super sweet but also very peanut buttery. I also learned that they do wine and cocktails. This adorable bakery prides themselves on including homemade gluten free sweet treats. My husband had a few of the cupcakes this past weekend and said they were flavorful and moist. He also enjoyed their iced coffee. Although this bakery sits on Main Street, I have walked by it hundreds of times not realizing there was a business inside. I thought it was a house with apartments. Upon entering, I was greeted immediately by the sweet smell of baked goods. The bakery is located in the back right side of the building. Every time! I cannot say enough about the Silver Spoon. My husband is lactose intolerant and it is really difficult to find a cake that won't leave him in a bad way or is just plain dry and flavorless. I am never disappointed with this bakery. They have made another beautiful, moist, flavorful, coconut cake. I really find it so hard to believe there is no dairy in this cake with a frosting that is so soft and decadently rich. Such a great place. As soon as you walk in, the sweet smell of cupcakes baking greets you. The lattes are amazing, great foam on top! And they have many cupcakes that are decorated beautifully, along with some French macarons and a couple of other baked goods. They have a cute sitting room, as well. The atmosphere and look of the place and the goodies was lovely, but, the macaron that I had just tasted meh and way sweet...cute but too sweet with no distinguishing flavor. The beautiful Boston cream muffin which my husband had was missing the creme anglaise and had, instead, a big dollop of frosting. While it was generous, it was super sweet and not as expected. I'm a little torn on how to review my experience at Silver Spoon Bakery. First of all, the decor is absolutely charming! I love the Tiffany blue highlights and all the Parisian accents throughout the space. I could see myself hanging out here and never tiring. I actually tried several cupcakes on a recent visit. I must say, they are all expertly decorated and delicious. The frosting is not too sweet, just the way I like it. If the cupcakes were simply called vanilla or chocolate I'd say these are some of the best I've had. However, none of the cupcakes actually taste like the flavor they are supposed to be. I tried the S'mores cupcake which is chocolate cupcake filled with whipped marshmallow and topped with marshmallow frosting. There was no filling, and the frosting tasted like regular buttercream. Absolutely nothing tasted like marshmallow. So to me it was a chocolate cupcake with basic buttercream. The Strawberry Champagne cupcake is a champagne cupcake with strawberry champagne frosting. It tasted nothing like strawberries. It was delicious, but simply tasted like a plain cupcake with plain (albeit fluffy and tasty) buttercream. The Lemon Blueberry did contain blueberries, but essentially lacked any discernible lemon flavor. I'm sure there was some in there, but not enough tartness at all to call it lemon. The Cookie Dough cupcake is a bestseller. I found it to be a unique idea, and a bit sweeter than the others. It probably sold it's "flavor" much better considering it's actually filled with a chunk of cookie dough and has a cookie on top. It didn't really blow me away though. With that said, I do think the cupcakes here are good, but just not really flavored as advertised. I have a good palate (I went to culinary school and write a food blog) so I know that I can pick up flavors where other people cannot. If I was blindfolded and ate these cupcakes, I wouldn't be able to tell you what flavors they are supposed to be. That's really my concern here. They cupcakes are BEAUTIFUL and very tasty, but don't expect to be blown away by how "flavorful" they are in their creative and unique flavor profiles. They just need more actual flavor. 3 1/2 stars. read more

I have so much love for Silver Spoon. It's one of my top three bakeries. I love the decor, very Victorian and upscale but with a friendliness and comfort level a lot of places can't achieve. Staff is always friendly. The cupcakes are to die for. My favorite is the watermelon cupcake that I hope they continue to make. The flavor is unreal. Cupcakes are always moist with the perfect amount of frosting. I like that you can get coffee and cocktails as well: Thursday night is ladies night which includes a bottle of champagne and two cupcakes for a fee. I first visited Silver Spoon Bakery at the recommendation of my sister while I was searching for a wedding cake vendor. We scheduled a tasting, and we sampled three cupcakes in our chosen flavor combinations while also enjoying a glass of wine. The cupcakes were so fantastic I booked Silver Spoon on the spot without ever visiting another bakery. The cake they created for my wedding was absolutely delicious. It was fresh and flavorful and looked exactly as I hoped. I was also able to rent a beautiful cake stand from their selection, and the bakery worked with my florist to have fresh flowers added to the frosting. Yesterday, I stopped in for the first time since my wedding. I was looking for a gift for a gluten-free friend, and I was thrilled they had 3 GF cupcake options in fall flavors. I bought one of each for my friend, and I bought an assortment of 4 regular cupcakes in different flavors for my husband and me. The cupcakes are out of this world delicious. Highlights of the Silver Spoon location include the ability to have a glass of wine or a drink in the bakery/cafe, and their location in a historic house in East Greenwich. I'm an architectural historian, so they get extra points from me for being great stewards of a historic building and creating such a cozy space. Tips: -Silver Spoon has a little known "Cupcake of the Month" club that is a fantastic gift for any cupcake lovers in your life. You can choose the number of months and number of cupcakes per month and give a little punch card to your chosen friend to redeem each month! -Many nights they have specials that allow you to combine drinking and cupcakes (what's not to love about that?)...for example, a free cupcake with a drink purchase. -You can rent out one of their cute and wonderfully decorate rooms for a small birthday party or bridal shower and guests can decorate cupcakes or enjoy a meal prepped by the Silver Spoon chef. -Located on Main Street in East Greenwich, it's a perfect place to stop after a meal at one of the many restaurants nearby. There are two sitting rooms & the bakery counter in back with a variety of cupcakes, macaroons, coffees, teas, yacht club sodas & adult beverages. We headed to dinner but then came back for dessert. This reminds me of a little Duck & Bunny of Providence in East Greenwich. We all got cupcakes. I got the Caramel Salted Chocolate, & my friends got Lemon & a Double Chocolate.
