The shop is smaller, but clean, cute and easy to pop in and out. The area of Newport where it is, is very nice. I enjoyed both of these cupcakes a lot. The lemon curd filling in the lemon was super good. Both cupcakes were moist, not too rich, and the frosting was amazing. It still had a very "frosting" flavor but it was thick and creamy enough to hold its shape, but not totally like you're just eating sugar. The chocolate raspberry cupcake was amazing. The raspberry frosting is extremely memorable and the chocolate flavor of the cupcake was very good. I am a big vanilla cake fan, as a lot of chocolate cake sometimes tastes funky, but I assure you this one is very good. The girl at the counter was very nice, and helpful with other customers questions. I recommend!

Desserts for the day were a Salted caramel bon bon, Strawberry frosted Donut macaron, and Lemon cheesecake petit four. Everything tasted excellent (except the lacking chicken salad sandwich) and was well prepared. I thought the experience was well worth the money, definitely recommend. It would be nice if they offered a selection of teas to buy and take home.

I enjoy eating many different things in small bite-sized portions and I thought all of the food tasted good. The portion is a full meal, albeit it's mostly carbs and sugar. That would be my one critique--it's a bit too sweet and there weren't enough savories. Price-wise, it was $50 per person. I really like that the price is inclusive of taxes, service, and tips. The photos show food at $100 for two people. It was filling, but a very sugary filling. The decor is cute, but some details could have been better. For example, the tea cake tower is black and modern-looking and honestly, not cute or matching. Some light piano music softly playing in the background would have been nice. The customer service is fine. We did street parking and while we came at a rather odd time, we still got a bit of traffic due to construction. Overall, I really enjoyed tea time at Sweet Marie's and would consider coming here again for a special occasion!
