Finally got around to trying Mochi Girls. The last time I tried to go, they apparently sold out in…read morean hour and closed for the day! :( Anyways, for those mochi donut fans out there, you know Isabella's is pretty much the standard of mochi donuts in the GTA. So that's what I will compare Mochi Girls to. I got half a dozen for $26. The flavours I got were 2 strawberry, 2 black sesame, maple bacon and fruity pebbles. The first one I ate after a 6 min chilly walk back to the car was half a strawberry. The strawberry flavour was really strong which I liked. It had the right mochi donut texture, as well. I didn't eat another one until getting home, after a couple hours of errands. I ended up trying to split the fruity pebble and maple bacon donut with my bf but all the icing just completely crumbled and fell off. I guess at this point it had really hardened and did not stick to the donut. That was really disappointing. So I can't say much about the fruity pebble, as I only ate a quarter of the donut part lol. Then I decided to eat the rest of the strawberry donut and noticed it was really oily. I hadn't noticed this before but I guess after a couple of hours the oil really settled in. This was even more apparent the next morning. Typically mochi donuts should be pretty bleh the next day because they have hardened. However, with these ones, they were bleh because they were so soft from all the oil. The black sesame donut next morning just wasn't enjoyable at all. Needless to say, I won't be returning. They do get points for the aesthetics and packaging, which is all super cute. I know they're a new business and I am so rooting for them and wish them the best. Their donuts just weren't to my liking.

Heard about this spot through tiktok so decided to give it a try since I love mochi donuts. They don't have a wide selection of flavours compared to other mochi donut spots I've tried. The 6 out of the 7 flavours we chose included churro, taro, original, cinnamon toast, chocolate banana and matcha Oreo. Sadly, these donuts were not as soft and chewy as other mochi donuts I've tried and the flavours were not amazing. The one my boyfriend and I liked however, would have to be the cinnamon toast flavour. I'd say if you've never tried mochi donuts before you may like these but there are so many other mochi donut spots I'd prefer over this one that overall taste better and have more flavours. These tasted more like regular donuts in my opinion.

Oakberry is the epitome of açai. Currently in my Açai era…read moreand have tried açai bowls from 4 different places around the GTA. NONE of them compare to Oakberry. Oakberry is pure açai, while most other places blend their açai with other fruits and a non-dairy milk. I tell all my friends that their first experience with açai has to be with Oakberry and then they can try the rest lol. There are 3 different sizes here and I usually go with "medium", which is called "The Works". All the bowls are customizable with unlimited toppings which is amazing. I always get, strawberries, bananas, blueberries, peanut butter (a must!), chia pudding and granola. I'm not gonna lie, it's pricy. But a bowl will keep me full for 2-3 hours, so it is a complete meal for me. The one other downside is that it's not an actual "bowl". It's a cup lol. Which makes it hard to eat all the toppings at once. However, it's not that serious and it's still delicious lol. A visit to Oakville (which funny enough "Oakville" is what they call their factory in Brazil) is not complete without a visit to Oakberry! Also there's usually only one person working at a time, sometimes in can take awhile to get your order, so please be patient with them. They cut up all the fruits on the spot, so it takes some time.
