    Almond Croissant

Cute little cafe in downtown Oakville with an antique charm. The almond croissant was delicious! Service was friendly & quick. Seating is limited.

THE best croissants I've had in the GTA, hands down. When I first saw the prices, I paused and doubtfully thought that, surely one croissant couldn't be worth that steep-ish price ($3.00 per Chocolate croissant). Until I bit into it, and then I understood - yes, this croissant is worth every penny. Authentic, chewy, melt-in-your-mouth, and so addicting. First, parking. Located in downtown Oakville, street parking in front of the shop is metered and only takes $1.00, $2.00, and $0.25 coins. Second, the shop. There's only a handful of tables, but it's charming, clean, and very welcoming. It's a little shop with a large variety of drinks and pastries. And as the name implies, this is definitely your stop for all things croissants - they had Almond, Hazelnut, Plain, Chocolate, etc. I was in a hurry (my parking was running out!) so I grabbed just one Chocolate croissant - in short, it was amazing. Delectable. Literally, oozing with chocolate. The pastry itself was so chewy, and the brioche texture really stood out. In terms of texture, it wasn't so flaky as much as it was fresh, soft, and chewy, which I loved. The shape was also different from usual croissants - more elongated, and stuffed with melted chocolate. I can't wait to come back and try out the other 'flavours.' Highly recommended if you're in the area. For one Chocolate croissant, with tax, I paid $3.15.

I was in a rush and I had been wanting to try Criossant Express for awhile so thankfully I had a meeting nearby so I popped in to grab one of their locally famous sandwiches to go. It's a small place, with tons of yummy looking baked goodies, hot and cold sandwiches, fresh breads, and of course croissants. There isn't a ton of seating but with the summer weather they're able to add a few extra seats on their patio where you can dine in a sort of french cafe style (facing toward the street). Amazing, simply amazing! I went with the hot turkey sandwich that was made with your choice of bread (although I LOVE Rye bread, avoid it as it means you get a smaller sandwich) along with the standard toppings. The sandwich uses freshly baked (in house) bread and is toasted until crispy on the outside (like a grilled cheese) and gooey/piping hot on the inside. I carried the sandwich to my car and proceeded to go to town on it while driving to my next meeting and simultaneous scalding the roof of my mouth. Burning mouth and swerving aside the sandwich was fantastic, full marks! Looking forward to returning and trying out they're name sake baked good! Eatcrest Out

It's a really good thing the owner was there that day, or it could have been a real schmozzle of a breakfast. For starters, it's a beautiful space; warm and cozy, with about six tables for two and a bold marble-top communal table by the window with high stools. There is a mix of provençal and modern in this joint, which is probably thanks to new ownership which stepped in (summer 2010) and gave it a much needed facelift. But it's clear they're still working out some kinks. My date and I snagged a simple quickie breakfast: croissant, two coffees, and quiche. After 15 minutes only one of our orders had been fulfilled, and having to wait for my first coffee of the morning makes me homocidal. Kudos to the owner, who picked up on this and offered us a complimentary cheese croissant for the wait. When my quiche finally arrived, it was the wrong one. It was my month of vegetarianism and while I'm not against bacon in principle, this is a shocking mistake to make. This time the chef came out and apologised, and offered to make me a fresh veggie omelette however I wanted. All in all the pastry and my omelette were really quite good, though our quickie breakfast turned out way longer than we wanted it to be. I have to give props to the staff for taking full ownership of the mistakes made, and doing all the right things to correct them. I would return. Obligatory Title Pun: EXPRESS yourself. Menu Readability: I can't remember, but their business cards are splendid. Need to mention: They have a front patio. What this place teaches me about myself: Being a vegetarian is tough in a meat-eater's world.

Cute little coffee with great paninis, baked goods and a variety of delicious deserts. There is no reservations, so you just walk-in. Also, no table service.

    Hazelnut croissant a must have

Happen to see this place while running by and knew that I would have to come back and check it out. So the next day that is exactly what what we did! I got the hazelnut croissant and my boyfriend got the plain one and we shared a cappuccino. We asked for the croissants to be heated up, properly, as in not in a microwave. Oh my gosh, this was the best croissant I have ever had. The hazelnut filling was to die for. It was like white chocolate and hazelnut all mixed together. The cappuccino was really good as well. I am so impressed with the quality here. I saw a lot of people eating brunch and I think we will have to come back to try it out.

I liked it so much I ate here twice this weekend. First time I had the first option on the menu (I think it's called Sunnyside?). I'm veggie so no meat. Poached egg with a lightly toasted buttery croissant. I loved the giant fresh roasted tomato! Today I had the eggs Benedict with the veggies and it was even better than yesterdays! Perfectly poached eggs on a bed of fresh baby spinach with a buttery croissant. The hollandaise sauce was perfect amount of butter and lemon with beautifully cooked asparagus and a fresh fruit salad accompany it. I would argue this may be the best egg Benny in town. The coffee was really good too and I like the large cups, they have nice grip. The atmosphere was very French style. They have cute tiny tables and you have to sit close to your neighbours table. I quite enjoyed this because both times I got into lovely conversations with the people next to me. It is easy to get a table as a group of two. I have seen a group of six eat there so it can accommodate most people but there may be a short wait and it may be easier to go as a two. Breakfast will be around $11 with coffee. Great place for a break! Lots of delish pastry, good coffee, nice little and cozy room, tables and seats out front. :)

A popular stop for cyclists that come from Toronto and need to refuel for their bike ride home. It's a small location, but filled with amazing pastry and sweets, along with some great sandwiches and coffee. I love it! I've come and gone many times throughout the years and am happy to say that the high quality has been kept, making the ride to/from Toronto always a worthy adventure. Great croissants! Great espresso! Great sweet! And some lovely small tables outdoors for when the weather is good. :)

Had an order of French Toast ($10.95, with side of fruit), Melted Turkey sandwich ($9.95, no side included), and a cinnamon bun croissant. The cinnamon bun croissant was excellent. Flaky on the outside, soft in the centre, just the right amount of sweetness. The French toast and Turkey sandwich were very disappointing. For the price, there was nothing included beside the sandwich and the two pieces of toast. The sandwich and the French toast were both greasy and oily. The turkey was deli-style slices, and no vegetables apart from a slice of tomato. Some lettuce or onion would have been nice. For $10-11 I'd rather go to Stoney's and get a decent sized sandwich with real ingredients. I'll be back but only for the baked goods.

It looks really tired and dated, in desperate need of a refresh. Interior is more small town general store as opposed to French patisserie. The refrigerated display was covered in condensation so honestly, it wasn't invited and difficult to see the cakes/tarts that were hidden behind the water droplets. I felt as though this did a HUGE disservice to the baker 'cause this definitely prevents people from being able to properly see the products. Adjacent to the display case, were croissants (chocolate, almond, plain) and pain aux raisin. Clearly some items were in demand because there were less of certain items. Plain Croissant was $4 which, based on the size isn't too bad. "Fancier" croissants were closer to the $5 range. I didn't see any fresh bread, but they had frozen bake-at-home ones in the fridge. Not sure if it was because they were sold out. I got the pain aux raisin and it was pretty good! Not super flakey, a bit more moist, but not dry either. Not super buttery. This was in the early afternoon. And the pain aux raisin was DEFINITELY better than the poor example that I had at Gouter (Etobicoke). That was tiny and not very fresh! Overall, Patisserie D'Or could've been better, but if it's in your neighbourhood, it's probably a bonus.

However, the size was definitely smaller than before. In the past, 1 box can only hold 3 pieces of eclairs and now 4 pieces can fit in. Same price as before. Since I didn't see Monica in the store for a couple times, I asked the lady who served me the whereabout of Monica. That lady told me that Monica and her husband (the French chef) are no longer working there, and she is the new owner now. That's why I noticed a few changes there. The TV was gone and they now have breakfast menu for dine in. New changes are good. Hope they will have more new baking items soon. Unfortunately, since the French chef Mr. Jean-Luc no longer the owner, why they still keep the original website from the old owner. That is misleading.

Let me start by saying there are not many authentic French bakeries outside the downtown core, so it's such a relief when you finally find one in the GTA. In comes Tradition de France. Right when you walk in, you are greeted with a "Bonjour!". They offer a wide variety of items but I mostly just come for the croissants and more specifically now, the almond croissants. I'm not gonna lie, they're pricey. It's $6 for one almond croissant BUT, take a look at my pictures. The size of one of these is my face+. You're insane if you think I personally, could finish one of these in one sitting lol. This is defs a two-part pastry lol. This croissant is so big and does not look like your average croissant but boy is it GOOD. It's buttery, no fake almond extract taste present and the almond filing texture is just right. It's filled to the point where the bottom of the croissant gets a little soggy, which is exactly what I look for in an almond croissant. The plain butter croissant is also perfect. Flaky and buttery with all the layers. Again, it's so hard to find authentic French bakeries outside of Toronto, so Tradition de France is a good place to start, if you're looking to get your croissant fix.
