Oakberry is pure açai, while most other places blend their açai with other fruits and a non-dairy milk. I tell all my friends that their first experience with açai has to be with Oakberry and then they can try the rest lol. There are 3 different sizes here and I usually go with "medium", which is called "The Works". All the bowls are customizable with unlimited toppings which is amazing. I always get, strawberries, bananas, blueberries, peanut butter (a must!), chia pudding and granola. I'm not gonna lie, it's pricy. But a bowl will keep me full for 2-3 hours, so it is a complete meal for me. The one other downside is that it's not an actual "bowl". It's a cup lol. Which makes it hard to eat all the toppings at once. However, it's not that serious and it's still delicious lol. A visit to Oakville (which funny enough "Oakville" is what they call their factory in Brazil) is not complete without a visit to Oakberry! Also there's usually only one person working at a time, sometimes in can take awhile to get your order, so please be patient with them. They cut up all the fruits on the spot, so it takes some time.

The açai blend was smooth and rich in flavour while the fresh fruit and oats made for great flavours and textures. Atmosphere Can't really comment on the atmosphere here because the store is quite small and has minimal seating. There were about 4 high chairs to sit but it's more meant to be used while you're waiting for your drinks or bowls. It's small like most downtown cafés and this place is more so for those grab and go type of people. Service Service was really friendly and the employee was helpful in helping me make a decision about the type of bowl to get. No complaints here; they were really inviting and patient with my indecisiveness. Price I paid $10 for the açai bowl! A little pricy but you're paying for quality organic food here so it's worth every dollar. Verdict Refresh is indeed a refreshing experience has they use only the finest organic fruits to make their products. I'm excited to return here to try their juices and other açai bowls. I didn't think the presentation of the toppings was much to write home about. I think the learning here is that maybe juices are likely their top seller given the name. But it's interesting that they also serve coffee, tea, toasts, bubble tea, wraps and flatbreads. I would be interested to head back here and try their juices to see how they are!

Yes, this was refreshing after a day of hiking the falls of Hamilton. Yes, it was very healthy. Yes, service was amazingly friendly and cheerful. Yes, the atmosphere was relaxing and trendy. No, the smoothies were not amazing. Don't get me wrong, they were good, but they didn't exactly taste like what they were supposed to taste like. I think they just need to reformulate the amounts of the ingredients that go into the smoothies. All of their smoothies have a spinach and kale base. I ordered the Sobi-Smoothie "Strawberries and Cream", which had strawberries, bananas, coconut milk, almonds, and cranberries. My cousin ordered the Mumbai Mango, which had mangoes, bananas, and coconut milk. Our other cousin ordered the Chocolate Cherry. While I enjoyed tasting all the smoothies, I felt that they mostly tasted the same; the only smoothie where I could taste all the flavors was the Chocolate Cherry. The use of coconut milk in the other two smoothies was extremely heavy-handed because that was the dominant flavor in both of them. You couldn't even taste the bananas, which are usually a very strong flavor profile. It felt like we were mostly drinking the coconut milk smoothies with a hint of strawberries or a hint of mangoes, not the other way around. That said, you definitely feel good about yourself when you eat here because you know exactly what you're putting into your body. The GSB has a menu of foods, smoothies, and snacks that are all 100% organic and vegan; they are also an extremely green business (no pun intended) and compost all their waste -- even their cups, straws, and food containers are compost friendly. All in all, I'd check this place out again if I ever go back to Hamilton; I'd probably ask for less coconut milk though.
