An excellent place to start over again after substance abuse or for those coming out of incarceration.

My father and myself had such an amazing experience here from the staff who cared beyond any expectation I ever had . Please know that my dad is not an easy guy to like or take care of. Yet every single time I was there, their kindness and care for their patients was truly amazing . The nurses and the physical therapy staff were exemplary caregivers. I'd like to specifically shout out to James and Matt in physical therapy and Demi. The nurses were all so good, but there were so many it's hard to remember their names. To all the kind wonderful people that work here at this facility thank you for taking such good care of my dad and being so nice to me as well. This is hard work and often thankless work so I was beyond surprised at how well they took care of my and kind at the same time. So thankful to you all.

All they are interested in is discharging people that are unsafe discharges. The thing I learned at this facility is how uncaring and heartless the case workers are with people that have memory care issues like dementia and Alzheimer's. Part of their job is to help you with resources to help you with your loved ones find a safe place to go after their stay has ended at Vista Knoll. However, their nursing and CNA staff are very nice. I would 100% never recommend this facility to any one that truly cares about their loved one!

She stood in the bathroom waiting for help to pull up her pants but nobody came so she struggled to dress herself in agonizing pain. She received no shower and just sat in the bed with little interaction from staff. The facility is old, worn down, no paintings or decor, just joyless and depressing with a broken tv in the room. We chose it for this reason, as we know many of the nursing team and she feels comfortable knowing there will be familiar faces. It is also easily accessible for me to go daily to check in and make sure things are going as they should. I want to be clear that while I am giving a poor rating to this place it is primarily due to the administrative staff and "care team"- I was never contacted by the care manager or social worker to talk about my mom's care, EXCEPT for after I reached out multiple times. And even then one person didn't know what another was doing/telling the family member. If I wasn't so frustrated and angry I would have been embarrassed for them. The nurses, CNAs and therapists are all fantastic- caring, patient and doing the best they can considering their limitations. It seems horribly understaffed and the communication is virtually nonexistent. Again- NOT the people actually caring for your loved one. They are great. But any coordinating you need to do or information gathering or support you need... good luck! In the end, it was literally laughable how many balls were dropped. If you find yourself or a loved one in this facility plan to have an advocate who can be actively involved in coordinating. I'm hoping desperately that my mom won't need another stay in skilled nursing. I'm not naive enough to think the grass would be greener in another facility, but I would be very hesitant in sending her back to Vista View. Having said all of this- MANY thanks to Ruth, Brenda, Anna, Norchell and Sam. Your care for my mom has not gone unnoticed amid the sh*#show going on in the rest of this place. (There were other fantastic nurses but I can't remember their names.)

He was in a very bad place when he entered Green Oak. It is Christian based and has worked wonders for my son. No more beating himself up for things he has done in the past. Yes there is a lock down period of two months - Yes you cannot have a phone while at the ranch. If you leave the premises you can take your phone for the day. You can work outside the facility after two months. There are random drug tests and when returning from a day out a breathalyzer test. As far as the food - no it is not great but edible. I don't know what people expect when you are paying $750 per month. You get a roof over your head - continual help and sober living. Classes for you to get sober & stay sober. Yes you do have some chores. When my son first arrived he would feed the goats, Tortes, peacock, horses and two pigs and one llama. Not hard work. Animals got fed twice a day and the goats 3x a day. There is also gate duty. He has been working the gate, teaching men how to study for their GED and has found purpose in his life again. It is learning that life is tough and there are restrictions in many things we do - but the rewards are priceless. My son may stay longer than the 9 months - and hopes to find out what he would like to do when his time is up to leave Green Oak. One Day At a Time. Thank you for Giving me My Son back.

Worst experience! I…read morehad an emergency surgery & was too weak to go home from the hospital 1) I was told Dr. Novac was my doctor while at the facility. Dr. Novac visited me once after I was admitted & barked questions at me. A couple of days later, there was confusion on my new prescriptions & I was concerned about my abdominal surgical site. I requested to talk to him again he refused to meet with me in the 11 days I was there. Husband called facility asking to speak to him & was told it wasn't permitted. (Red Flag) 2) Not once but twice, I had to correct 2 different CNA's? Nurses? about my meds being changed. In fact, I was already given meds that I wasn't supposed to take & I brought it up but was told I was mistaken. The young man who dispensed the meds, double checked & later apologized. The 2nd time it was a nurse, she argued with me, went out & grabbed the blister pack of pills to prove she was right & I had to point the name of meds on package & show her she was calling the meds by the wrong name! That was where the confusion was, both meds started with the same 2 letters. Scary! These are supposed to be professionals. 3) In 11 days, I was moved THREE times to 3 different rooms! I'm supposed to be resting to get stronger to go home. In all fairness, I initially requested to be moved to a quieter spot. The door to the rooms are generally left open & I had a light shining in my eyes all night long plus was in a very noisy busy area & they did move me in a day or 2. I was so grateful. This room was more quiet But every time the bathroom door was opened the stench of MOLD was super strong. I noticed there was a hole in the drywall under the sink & towels wrapped around pipes under the sink. One day, I had to let a cna know there was water on the bathroom floor which was mopped. Safety Issue! A few days later!! I was moved yet again. 3) In each room there are 3 beds. 1 bathroom. WARNING! It is not unusual for your roommate to be a sundowner. Be prepared for screaming and disruptive behavior all night. Nurses also come in the room at all hours to change their diaper and of course the lights go on & disrupt any sleep you might get. They are not quiet, either. I can't begin to tell you how anxious & stressed I became. Even with earplugs lights being shined all hours was so disruptive to sleeping. 4) Physical therapist & occupational therapists were very nice. However, I was super weak, had to use a walker, just had abdominal surgery & after a couple of sessions, I was so sore that I had to take tylenol and place ice on my abdomen for a few hours for 2 days. Knowing this, they continued to nudge me to do the exercises until I mentioned it to the head of the department in passing, then the exercises did become lighter. I was told by both therapists at different times I should have told them I was in pain during the session. But I tried to to tell them the discomfort did not happen during the sessions. Knowing how weak I was plus just having abdominal surgery possibly from the beginning warranted a gentler approach. 5) I had noticed that some "problem patients" would use the call button repeatedly for the nurses with stupid questions, etc. They were eventually ignored. But there is something so disturbing about hearing someone yell "NURSE" sometimes for hours. I was so stressed out. I was determined to be a good patient while here. It was clear to me that this facility was extremely understaffed. But ONE day I really needed to speak to a nurse. ONE DAY out of 11 days I pushed the nurse button only to be told the nurse would be right in. An hour later, I pushed the button & was told the nurse just had her break but would be right in. An hour later I tried again and was told yet another excuse. Nurse never came, I gave up and the next morning she came in to see what i wanted the night before without much interest. Very disappointing & frustrating. 6) Not always, but for the most part the food was less than cafeteria food. Some meals were ok. You fill out a meal form when you get there. I tried cold cereal for breakfast & it upset my stomach. I told 2 different people and also filled out another form but continued to get the food I couldn't eat. Sometimes, my roommate got my food by mistake and I got theirs. That's my experience. I hope it helps someone. In my case I was discharged from the hospital unexpectedly & my husband was contacted by a social worker or insurance agent (?) & was told I was going to La Paloma. This all happened within a couple of hours. Knowing what we know now, check with your insurance & see which facilities are covered. And if possible check the reviews. This was our first experience with a nursing facility and I'm not sure if they are all this bad, but it was a horrible experience.

I found the house to be beautiful and spacious. AST director Michael M was gracious enough to give me a quick rundown of all the rules, and a urinalysis, as this is a zero tolerance drug-free facility. As I settled in and got to know the other members of the household, I realized what a great find. Very friendly residents who are very outgoing to show you the ropes. There is also all you can eat food 24 hours a day as long as you clean up after yourself one group meal is served per weeknight with a house meeting on Sunday I found the whole experience of the way the house was brand to be very professional and organized And were quick to handle situations among the other residence. Another great aspect of the facility is that they will be responsible for handing meds out to the residence as needed. Believe me, I did my research when looking for a facility to move to. I had heard all the horror stories of people stuffing four individuals into a room made for one! I assure you this is not the case and every bed is a least a queen size . The house is clean and immaculate at all times as all the house guests help out. Truly an awesome place to start if you want to stay sober ! I would give this facility five stars and another five just for the staff! They really make the place what it is. Respectfully, Michael

I stayed at Casa Paz for 6 months and boy It was a experience. I chose this house because they provide transportation to and from work and because of the beautiful house. They also have a food program that's included in rent. They do a great job stalking the house with food and getting anything special that you request. I shared the master bedroom with two other awesome girls. I totally appreciated having a queen size bed too! I swear every other sober living has as many twin size beds as possible crammed into a room. Our room did have ants tho... and no we didn't have food in our room. They provided us with ant traps but the traps would just leek sticky gel everywhere and the ants would be back in a week. One of the main reasons I gave them such a low rating is because it felt like staff went out of there way to sure you didn't feel at home... I tried to hang up one of my paintings and got yelled at, accidentally leaving a notebook downstairs and it gets thrown away, and management seems to threaten to kick you out over any thing. You would think paying 1700 a month would offer a more home vibe. I personally didn't clash well with management. A couple of staff had a toxic masculine /aggressive way of handling things. Lots of anger, yelling and heated confrontation. Even staff verbally/ physically abusing clients. I've always been the type of person who wants to know the reason behind things so I could have better understanding. They say they deal with everyone on a "case by case scenario ". But it's really just a huge playing favorites game! It's clear as day to house that they were certain people(clients) who were treated better; such as, not having to do there chores or/and always have the easier ones, getting extra rides, rides to and from airports, outcome after relapse and etc. When a client relapses they either get kicked out , have to pay for hotel for 3 days, temporary moved to the other Casasober house, or no punishment at all. I have even witness managers covering for the clients after a re-lapse and pushing it under the rug. It seems the main factors are monetary gain and personal favorites when dealing with this type of situation. My personal option is they shouldn't run a co-ed sober living. A few of the house managers evecross professional boundaries and take advantage of female clients in the position are in . It's fuck up place and I would avoid. At the end of a day I forget this place is a business in the main goals to make money, The owner has no problem rolling up in her Escalade and flashing her money while clients pay almost 2g a month to share a room with 2 other people. . But yeah avoid like the plague. Recovery is amazing but places like this just take advantage of people in a rough spot.

I wouldn't recommend this facility for a patient that requires significant help or has mild cognitive impairment. Post stroke she was wheel chair bound and required assistance for everything. In summary: Dr. B was excellent. Thoughtful, problem solving mindset and treated patient and family with respect, and some humor when appropriate. Rehab Team: Competent and caring. Speech. OT AND PT good therapists. Management: Poor. All patients receive 2 consecutive days with no therapy. That is 2 days isolated in your hospital room with no activities. This is truly detrimental to the healing process. In my experience this exasperated anxiety and feelings of isolation, reversing progress made during the week, disturbing sleep cycles and recovery. It's very important if you are considering this location for a loved one that you reflect on this. Your loved one will be sitting in a hospital bed for two consecutive days with no interaction except a nurse popping in to check on them briefly. Of course family can visit and we did, however it is not a substitute for professional engagement. This workaround that administrators have finagled to ensure patients hit the certain hours required while limiting weekend staffing is absolutely horrible and very transparent in their motives. Nursing Staff: Very inconsistent and overall not good. Didn't appear in alignment with goals of therapy. I didn't feel safe most of the time with the quality of care my mom was receiving. Not all the time, there were a few standouts that were excellent, but overall very lacking. I share this info. so if you're considering this facility you know what to expect. And with hopes that administrators will make changes for future patients. When searching for a rehab facility I admit I was influenced by the the gold star ratings from outside organizations, but after my loved one's experience, I realize this is more a reflection of savvy administrators working to get accolades from governing bodies vs. true gold star care.
