I'm 7 weeks in and this is my first time at an inpatient facility and I absolutely love it here. Almost every resident here is about their sobriety and the staff is awesome. They definitely know what they are doing and haven't forgotten where they came from. They all care and want to make sure you learn life skills and how to maintain your sobriety. If you're truly sick of being in a haze or downright disgruntled with your life because of a drug or alcohol problem this place is the answer. Everybody from the higher ups upstairs to the guys that do the Peer support are caring and down right down for you to get better and to live a life that you might've been missing out on because of your addiction to alcohol or drugs. The kitchen staff is incredible. I've had and alcohol/addiction problem for 38 years and I can tell you that I'm not cured but my disease is being treated on a daily basis because I found the fellowship. I came here in 2018 with 4 1/2 months sober but relapsed after a month and a half. They sent me to detox for 12 days at VOA and made me restart my program. And I came back and went through assessment again only to be restricted to grounds for the entire time I was there (approx another month) because they claimed I was using and gave me 18 drug tests in 26 days. (all of which were negative). I was also never given one document along with any of my drug tests. once I realized what was going on, I told Vito to suck me and went back to eating my pancakes the last time he ever asked me to take a test for him. I never heard another word about that conversation again. Several of the counselors harassed me by making me lift up my shirt, while I would pee. Another one touched me below the belt, trying to see if I was hiding something. They even tried to bluff me and say my test came back positive for alcohol. I obviously laughed because I hadn't had anything to drink in nine years since I was 21. In the end, I never failed another drug test yet I was given the option to be terminated from the program or referred to Casa Raphael. Who is ever given the option to be terminated or receive a referral from anywhere? Nevertheless, I went to court after my outpatient was complete and probation and the judge said that I no longer had to do anymore inpatient treatment because i served nearly 6 months between two programs and detox so I was finished. The reason why my probation officer had no problem with me not completing the program was because in the midst of all of this, they did not contact her even one time so she knew something wasn't right. read more

As time goes by you start to see peoples real personalities come out. And with addicts, believe me, its not a pretty sight ! For example, they say your emotional/brain development stops the same time you start using drugs. Well, most of these people have been using drugs consistently since their teenage years... just imagine. The place is comprised of 100 or so addicts, and 5 or so counselors that tend to these addicts. These "counselors" are not too bad, but remember they used to be addicts as well, so you just never know. One day they seem to be normal, another day you'll be shocked as to how differently they act. if you can deal with sharing a small hot room with 6 other guys and sleeping on bunk beds like you're 10 years old again, this place will work for you. Good thing is its only 500 a month if you can't afford the standard rate of 1500 a month. That means the city pays about 1000 a month of your bill. read more

I've been here for some meetings and to take some people to and from meetings. Really solid place with great people, they help many get back on the right track with rooms to stay, meetings, job help ect. I've seen a lot of guys hold long term sobriety when they're all in for changing their life. I've also seen people who had the opportunity to go here and chose "Their Way" instead and are still living on the street years later. You get what you put into it. Sobriety took me a while to start feeling good but every second is worth it. The change is permanent and no matter what, your life will be better than it was before, IF you can be honest with yourself and do the step work with a sponsor. I got a year of complete sobriety when I got honest and haven't had a drink now for almost 5 years. My life is incredible now. This works if you're willing to do the work to change. Don't give up, do something about it! Time goes fast. I'm forever grateful for you guys even though I never stayed there as a resident, and for A.A in general. It all started with alcohol no matter how gnarly it got for me, to all you "special people" good luck! read more

I am extremely pleased with the intake process here at the Fellowship Center. Gina, the Intake Coordinator, was Very Efficient, Caring and Extremely quick to help my son. During the COVID there are very few beds available for help, but, after talking to my son over the phone she ensured she would hold a bed for him. She was very understanding, informative and helped my son and myself within a few hours of my calling the facility. When we arrived at the facility I was very impressed to see so many employees/people working diligently at the center. Everyone was working together as a team to ensure the process went smoothly and everyone was informed of what was going on. The counselor/person, I believe his name is Jim, who spoke to us was extremely informative and sincerely cared about helping my son. He didn't mince words which is what we both needed. The facility is clean and certainly in a livable at area. Amongst the many meetings that are held, there is a basketball area and work out equipment in a garage available to all that are there. Cell phones are allowed on day 1 so the clients feel as though they are still connected with their support/loved ones. Thank you for existing and helping individuals and families! read more

Hands down TFC provides absolutely the BEST SUD (substance use disorder) treatment and recovery programs in all of San Diego County. I have never met a more caring and committed group of hard working recovered addicts all extremely dedicated and passionate about the effectiveness of completing the program. I've been through other programs and not had anywhere near the same experience as I had at TFC. The program follows exact guidelines in order to qualify (10 clinical groups and 10 educational or support groups) and they follow a set schedule requiring those in the program to wake up early and there is a curfew but that's common anywhere you go for program in the area. The food here is really good you get fed very well and I personally had a special diet and they went out and purchased what I requested without even thinking twice or even asking! How considerate is that?! Time after time they never cease to amaze me. Detox here is 5 star treatment so if you are considering starting withdrawal management for yourself or a loved one I absolutely recommend TFC. read more

To be honest - the State has to spend more money in placement services to ensure that an adequate level of care is provided that actually help the patient overcome barriers to meeting goals. I should have honestly never been placed at this center as even though it did provide a solution I keep feeling that I have to adjust to everyone's treatment model and not actually doing anything as my attentions are being focused on items that I frankly have conflicts of opinion on. They were polite, they required a lot of janitorial services after that patient moved to the working stage and frankly the issue was that the patients accrued such a high balance that paying off your bill, saving to move out, and managing their expectations to stay in the program while meeting the demands of an employer became impossible to juggle. Employers supercede any demands of a program as it's the needs of the business over the needs of your agency. Accomodations can be made but frankly without providing a rigid schedule that does not change it is impossible to manage your janitorial duties if you frankly change them every damn week making it impossible to work with anyone on. I made every attempt to notify of my needs but the needs of the facility superseded mine causing me to find housing in a flash. This is where expectation, the reality, and the poorly executed design of a non profit model failed you as you were simply trying to label people as charity fraud models. I think you should be ashamed of yourself as it's clear that your model had to change as it didn't meet the level of scrutiny, almost broke your bank, and forced you into taking insurance allowing you to be monitored, reviewed, and adjusted as required by law. Additionally, when I asked for my EBT card back and you said no. You were engaging in EBT fraud by using my card and collecting benefits if I was not a resident. Luckily, I was nice and didn't want you engage in fraud so I canceled the card and reported it lost. How nice of of me. Being the adult in the relationship. read more

My cousin, who has been sober for 32 years, told me about this spot. He said "once you get in, they'll take good care of you for all your needs." He was 100 percent correct. At the end of the day, this is a rehab---it's not a vacation home. You have minor chores and are required to wake up in the morning to go to class, but you get what you put into it. If you're open minded and are really ready for change, this place is perfect for you!You are not required to pay any fees upon entering, but after a little while (everything is on a client to client basis so I don't want to give any specific time) you need to catch up on your fees (600 per month for government aid bed). You are required to attend AA meetings off property (in which there is a huge AA and NA community in Escondido and North County SAN Diego). TFC has a kitchen with cooks (Jared, Gavin, Bob, James) that provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner! They definitely provide you with good food and healthy choices too. The Fellowship Center also has a "client counsel" which helps us learn responsibility and leadership. Once you're ready to move on from the rehab, they have transitional housing and sober living housing (which are also on property). All the specialists/counselors have years worth of training/experience in rehabilitation and are very helpful. If you are honest and treat them with respect, they will pay you the same attitude. This isn't a place to come to if you think you're going to be able to slack off and be sneaky, because you will get caught. Metaphorically, this place gives you enough rope to pull yourself out of the mess you've gotten yourself into or hang yourself. For all of us that go into the center, it's a life or death situation, some just aren't ready to get sober and fight everything that the Fellowship Center has to offer. Shoutout to Toya, who was my specialist and always so mindful and compassionate with all my needs. The fellowship center also has an alumni association, so even once you're done with the rehab you have so many friends in sobriety you can rely on and the specialists are always there that you can talk to and confide in. Program provides an excellent curriculum. Freedom to go to outside meetings to build support group. Staff are all there for you. Staff are concerned about your well being and go above and beyond to help residents by meeting them where they are at. There's a level of comraderie not found in other programs ( I have been to several ) and everyone is there for each other. Resident from June 2006 to May 2007, just took 11 year tokens and cakes. I was born in Idaho in 1961, I'm the eldest of three children, raised in a family filled with love. My first real drink (approximately age 10) was an orange juice glass (about 4 oz.) I was having a beer with my dad! My mom was furious, she drinks about a bottle of wine per year. I had many drunken episodes in my teen years. My first DUI came at the age of 21, very shortly after my first divorce. The DUI class instructors suggested we "look at our relationship with alcohol". 24 years later, I would actually do that. Between ages of 21 and 45, came two more marriages, the birth of two sons, periods of sobriety, many blackouts, horrible behavior, another DUI, and one more divorce. At the age of 38 I married my 3rd wife, I was sober when we started dating....later I "drank like a gentleman" for about 3 years, then my drinking slowly escalated. In March, 2006, I lost an excellent high paying job I had enjoyed for almost 16 years. I was pulled out of a Kaiser Outpatient group on one occasion, accused of drinking. I lied and said I hadn't, but somehow managed to blow a .23 into the breathalyzer. Two 10 day in patient programs follow, I returned to drinking after both of them. I had come home drunk virtually every day for over 2 1/2 years yet, I could not understand why my wife left our home to live with her mom. Following my 8th and 9th seizures, I was taken by ambulance to Palomar where I woke up on life support. To the best of my recollection, my sponsor, his girlfriend, my mom, my wife and a nurse or doctor, observed me in the hospital with a look on their faces that said "are you going to die or what?" I was scheduled (for the second time) to go into TFC upon leaving the hospital. At the age of 45, my wife had left me, my job and career were gone, and most of my family would not talk to me and my sons wanted nothing to do with me. I stayed at my mom's after the hospital waiting to get into TFC. I ate well, slept fitfully, took medications exactly on time and learned my wife had filed for divorce. That hurt! Almost every day the phone rang and Carlos told my mom there was not an available bed for me yet. Every day I was relieved. I did not want to go to yet another recovery facility....."They" hadn't worked in the past, I was focused on fixing my marriage and getting a job, issues I could not possibly address in my current condition. June 26th 2006, I entered TFC reluctantly. I did not want to go there, but had been told about 100 times, I would die if I drank again. I was shown my room, my bunk, and where to put my gear.....and given about 1/2 hour to "unwind" before the next scheduled group. This, for me was a moment of clarity or a spiritual experience, I'm not sure which but I've been taught it really doesn't matter. I'm in a recovery home, my life is in a shambles, and I'm sharing a room with 5 other men and sleeping on a bunk bed. This was NEVER my goal. For the first time in my life, I took step 1 honestly and completely. While a resident at TFC, I went to the groups, ate in the dining hall, listened to others and followed direction. I took several council positions, went to outside meetings, participated as a volunteer supporting civic events, I read the big book and the 12 and 12, got a new sponsor and went through all 12 steps. In December of 2006 while a resident, my third divorce was final. This really hurt because life is supposed to get "all better" when we get sober right? My new specialist Phil explained it to me with two words, "not necessarily." I did what I was taught, I went to over 20 meetings that week. As low as I felt, as much as I hurt, I listened to people share much worse things than I was going through. In January of 2007 (while still a TFC resident) I lost my first friend in recovery. Alex decided to try heroin "one more time" and died of an overdose. I've lost many friends since. With 15 months of recovery, I moved in with a wonderful woman, I had a car repossessed, I started my first job as a sober man, and my older son suffered a catastrophic brain injury in a High School football game and almost died. I took all this to my sponsor with the obvious question, "What do you call all this?" He replied, "Brian, in recovery, we call it September." Since then, much has happened; good and bad....I don't handle every situation perfectly....I don't walk through every issue with grace... What changed? My willingness. I was broken and done! I was taught that we "hit our bottom" when we learn to stop digging. I did not want to live as I had previously, and learned that I did not have to. No matter what bad happens today, it's always better than it used to be. My life has improved dramatically and I know the credit for this goes to God, to AA, and to The Fellowship Center, a place I never wanted to go. read more

This place really changed my life. I use to be really in a bad way, but coming here to this center, it really changed my life and turned it around for me. I have nothing but respect for this place and I plan on keep coming back as an alumni. I still plan on coming here for some meetings and to visit my friends who are still here who came in after me and say hello to my specialist and other counselors who watched me throughout the program. So I came here in the past and left . I came back last year and I was tired of living life on my terms . I seen where that got me . Miserable , tired , exhausted and at my all time low . I got released from prison with nothing . Not knowing who I was cause that place made me lose sight of myself . Upon coming here it was a very comfortable arrival . I was first resistant to this place but came to find out the staff and residents are no different they just know how to live life on life's terms and are aware of the disease of alcohol and drugs . Personally I can say the ceo mr. Rick Peterson is a very humble and reserved person . Can't really tell his style at first until you actually talk to him as for ray diCiccio very calm collective and funny guy . He's the director and honestly is involved with the resident as well and doesn't use his position to sit down at a desk all day but is interactive with us . And as for Ed this gentleman by far is no different than us but has a little more time and a lot more awareness and understanding of this life of alcohol and or drugs . Doesn't or hasn't done anything we haven't done and is a very blunt honest and caring person . If you see this ed thanks for everything. Very flood staff from kitchen to maintenance to therapist . I came here with nothing was miserable lonely and a two stepper . Now I'm living a happy and free and joyous life without substances or alcohol. I gave this place a chance and they had hope in me . Im writing this review to say just how much I got what what was needed for myself while I was at the Fellowship center in Escondido CA,they were extremely interested in helping me with my addiction to meth my addiction specialist was Vito and I have to consider myself very fortunate to have him because my needs we're tailored to what he had the utmost experience in. His recovery skills were easy for me to understand and Vito would be there for me whenever I was in question of how to address the problems that occurred during the early stages of sobriety. From dealing with family matters court matters all the wreckage we accumulate while we're in our addiction. I stayed in the program for 91 days then was able to move into sober living here at TFC, my life today 6 months sober is absolutely beautiful I am surrounded by people whom are focused on recovery and freedom to live my life by being a productive member in society having a job now just waking each day feeling good. I owe all my growth to TFC they gave me the tools in a well run professional environment with groups my favorite awareness where you could talk about what's important in your life today being sober and how you feel about change.
